It's a nice shark illustration, but that's doesn't really have anything to do with golden ratio. That's just a logo made up of elliptical shapes. The circles are all over the place so there's no actual relation between them, so the rule of thirds doesn't apply here.
The golden ratio is not the rule of thirds.
You're right I meant to say the golden ratio is lost in the logo design.

Closed my account there. Little to no sales, clunky interface, RPD was disappointing.

veterans need to be more encouraging to newbies while at the same time "keeping it real".
Veterans don't need to do anything. Why should it be their job to encourage young newbie competitors? Posting some info about a new camera, or reviewing a rejected photo, sure, why not. But actively encouraging people to get ahead in this business? It's tough enough as it is.
We're all in the same boat, but if the boat is already sinking from the weight, it's every man for himself.
Yep... I'm doing fine but when I say so I get called BS. So why bother helping competition.
Is Noodelhap Nederlands?
Yep.

Third BME of the year so far, thanks to some nice VB sales. Shutterstock and FT/AS didn't disappoint either.

Remember there is a major holiday (Labor Day) on 9-4 for the U.S. Most folks have already taken off for the long week. Sales should be back to normal by 9-7...
A translation for the rest of the world.
9-4 = 4-9

Well, it's kinda obvious he didn't mean April 9th, isn't it?

I've been wondering this as well.
PhotoJPEG often gives me terrible banding issues with smooth gradients, even after applying a light noise effect. So I decided I wanted to try ProRes, but there just didnt seem to be an option to use that codec on a Windows machine. Fortunately, with AfterCodecs I was able to render with the ProRes codec and since then I no longer have ugly banding.
As for sales, I think it doesnt play that big of a role, but ProRes should give the end user the most possibilities when it comes to color correcting or editing your videos.

- Not really a mistake, but I regret not having heard earlier of microstock. I would have loved to join iStock in 2005-2006 instead of late 2009. - Joining Shutterstock and other agencies even later (late 2010) - I should have started doing video a lot sooner as well - Spending too much time uploading and submitting to low-tier agencies without sales to make up for it

Welcome to the forum and the microstock world. Be careful though, the 'doing it for fun' will soon become an addiction

Is SS going to follow iStock in its footsteps as the next big stock business slowly sinking under the weight of its own size and mismanagement? I'd like to think SS is fundamentally different from iStock/Getty, but maybe it's the same kind of corporate/technical mess after all.

I've had two 4K sales so far (one in February and one in March this year), but HD sales are much more common.

You act as if this surprises you. Didn't you know 0.02 is their minimum? They made their new royalty plans known months ago.

Although the word 'discrimination' implies a negative aspect, it's very common and in most cases understandable. Especially second-degree (quantity discounts) and third-degree price discrimination (different prices for different consumer groups). Example: of course you're not going to charge an individual hobbyist programmer the same price for your software product than you would a multi-million dollar corporation. Simply because the product is is much more valuable (even indispensable) to a corporation. When you offer a quantity discount, you're rewarding the consumer for his loyalty (and because of scalability, it reduces your own costs). Nothing wrong with that either. "Consumers buying airline tickets several months in advance typically pay less than consumers purchasing at the last minute. When demand for a particular flight is high, airlines raise the prices of available tickets. In contrast, when tickets for a flight are not selling well, the airline reduces the cost of available tickets." In this case it's simply a matter of supply and demand. "Airline passengers typically pay more for additional leg room as well." That's just paying for extra service or comfort.

Unbelievable how some people are jumping to conclusions without reading the sources they quoted themselves Google is doing this to show loopholes and allow software makers to develop new methods to counter these algorithms. Like a hacker who is hired by a software company to find exploitable bugs in their software so it can be fixed. If anything this kind of research helps developers extend their knowledge when it comes to securing our images. They even offered some solutions to counter their own algorithm. It's up to other developers to use this knowledge and improve the watermarks currently in use. It's tempting to see Google as a corporate beast intent on world domination and exploiting its workers, and when it comes to privacy and image search Google sometimes acts as if they are, but this research and development is actually beneficial to us image creators. Shutterstock is the first agency (AFAIK) to actually introduce some randomness to their watermarks, making it more difficult for watermark removal tools to do their job. Every image agency should take note of this and do the same.

Odd... I don't have that many sales either, but culling your portfolio is just weird. How long have you been a contributor and how many images did you have?

I can't access the site. I get an Apache 2 Ubuntu default page. Apparently it's been taken down.

In the case of the starving African child (who according to Sammy the Cat, wasn't actually starving) the photographer could have done little to aid her.
In the Charlottesville situation, there were medical professionals aiding the victims. A reporter would only be in the way if he'd try to give medical aid. He could however help by taking pictures to cover the story (as long as he keeps his distance).
Where did I say that the child was not starving?
Try and keep up
You did say: "The child was never in danger". Implying it wasn't starving, because that would classify as being in danger.

Videoblocks for images? I thought it was video/AE template only. Don't you mean GraphicStock?
If u already have a Videoblocks account, u can easily upload photos, illustrations, vectors through Videoblocks to GraphicStock. All in one nice
I have, but I don't see where I can upload images? All I see is an upload media button which allows me to select Footage, animations, templates, 360 VR. Edit: I found the option in my account to apply for image contribution.

I left Crestock a long time ago because sales were non-existent. Waste of time.
