I've 8 agencies that give me just 10% of the revenue.
I hear you Steve and your results speaks for itself. My biggest concern about submitting to smaller low-earning agencies is that they may struggling so much that they decide to have a garage sale on your images, and/or change their contributor terms and conditions to make it a worse deal for the contributor. What do you think?

I had a similar situation (Selfridges building in Birmingham) which I had as editorial and someone wanted to license it as commercial. I asked how much and it was for about $150 gross, so I went ahead and took the risk.
Makes sense to be careful, but also worthwhile to ask how much would be the license. There's been some reported cases on the Alamy forum of sales over $1k on Alamy...

I have about 70 images and no sales at Arcangel. Maybe I'm not doing it right ... https://www.arcangel.com/C.aspx?VP3=SearchResult&VBID=2U1HZOQJK390P Nicely done. Clearly you invest a lot of time and effort into each image. I got in touch with the Director of Arcangel Michael Mascaro about a year ago when I had 174 images and he had the following advice: Your email regarding sales was forwarded to me. I've looked over your images and it's a great start to a portfolio but 174 images is only a start (especially when you consider that 50 images is the absolute minimum we accept as a first submission). Submit regularly, add the correct location details to your images and ensure you have uploaded the necessary model/property releases and the sales will start to come in. A year has passed and since 400+ accepted images...still waiting.. Here's a link to my portfolio: https://www.arcangel.com/C.aspx?VP3=SearchResult&VBID=2U1HZOO9ZKGI#/SearchResult&VBID=2U1HZOQ3UAC8QI looked at Trevellion but I find that my style suits Arcangel more since i like producing artsy dark imagery. Trevellion seems to be more like Stocksy (if I'm not mistaken). Also, quite difficult to get in. Angela: Did you know that within Arcangel you have the option to submit to a non-exclusive gallery? It's called "NX". So you could submit to Arcangel and other Rights-Managed galleries. I've started doing that because I can't wait forever to get earn.

I gave up sadly BUT I stopped submitting to shutterstock and looking for a more "secure" agency for my images. How are you getting on at Arcangel (if you don't mind me asking)?. I'm at 574 images and no sales yet...

One more reason to submit premium images to Midstock, especially as RM.

I would also add www.photocase.com which has awesome images and I've heard has fairly good sales in Germany and Internationally.

Considering this isn't the most commercially appealing and versatile of shots, perhaps he should be happy to earn 25 cents.

This is a really long time for contributors to be holding up valuable images! If they were editorials I'd be seriously annoyed since they have a shorter shelf life but my pics are kinda timeless (don't know about yours). Agreed, a long time to wait...no news is good news.......maybe the people waiting are on the reserve list.

Shutterstock is (once again) having issues with customers downloading, according to FB. Dreamstime beat SS for me today, that's how bad things have gotten today lol Back to normal tomorrow, I hope.

But I love checking each site one by one. It's part of my morning routine. A nice cup of coffee, some news, and checking up to 20 sites to see what I earned while I slept. (not sarcasm, I truly do enjoy the process). I like it too, it's like scratch and win tickets. Sometimes there's a big prize...

On a note of 10 how much would you rate your actual revenue based on the efforts going into it? Are you living solely from ms? How do you see ms in 10 years? 6 no SS to be the first 1 billion image agency. We must adapt or die.

Perhaps you are leading people on with inflated dreams? I suppose DT wouldn't publish the truth that the average person here, 79 of them, are making $35 a month on DT. That's one of the good sites. Average means the top people are doing better and using your same assumption of a bell curve, a similar number are doing worse. I made some mention of Midstock sites and Rights-Managed, which they edited out. DT is a low earner that's for sure...it's a tough market out there and they'll struggle to stay competitive. Have to give them some credit for their fun incentive for contributors to get these articles up.

Shall I assume a rejection? No news is good news until the bad news.

Thanks for the mention, Steve.
Hope you try again to have your article accepted, it sounds like an interesting/useful theme.

Are this photo editorial or not? Yes, editorial in my opinion, although if you use general keywords you may get away with it as commercial. Don't put the name of the museum, for example. Some images aren't allowed, even as editorial. SS consider them "non-licensible content", for example Michelangelo's David.

I decided to write about a tricky subject how to come up with ideas (and images) to illustrate things in the news. Interesting topic, I look forward to reading.
