I often struggle to find more than 15 relevant keywords. More then that and the less relevant they get is my experience. But maybe I'm just lazy

I'm selling sound recordings/effects at Getty and been doing a steady $100-200/month the last 2+ years. Now it's down to $2.50! It's like the shut the whole audio section down! Anyone else?

I'm selling sfx there since 2017. They suddenly stopped accepting new sfx 1-2 month ago. I don't know if it's temporary, haven't tried to upload since then. They are my third best seller, after Audiojungle (second), and Getty (first).

Maybe they were too short. Most files are under 2 min long. But anyway, how am I supposed to know when they don't tell me anything? That is what irritates me.

I am new to Pond5 and have uploaded 36 files of nature sounds. Some of them are selling on Getty. I dear say they are of high quality with birds, wind, water and so on. All of them got rejected with no comment. Is this normal?
I also have uploaded a few pretty crappy video files, in my opinion, and they got all accepted...

Hehe, yes the situation is familiar. I feel audio is doing well at Getty, and that is why I would like to have some more sounds up in my portfolio.

ESP doesn't work, but what about Deepmeta? I can find no audio option there.

We only get paid quarterly now?
Last Remittance Advice mail says "Payment Date: 23-Jan-2017" but no money.

I have tried a few times in the last weeks, changed password, checked the username, but doesn't work for me. It worked before, a few months ago.

Myself I just write 'Various sound effects' in the description and use it for every sfx file I upload. You yourself as the recorder are the 'talent 1' for sfx.

A generic talent release will work for sfx!

From my Audio point of view, I'm uploading very few files per month and my sales have increased slow but steady since beginning of istockaudio in 2009, which was right after the last economic crisis. My sales are still growing (slowly) and I haven't uploaded anything since june. So one possible answer could be that the audio-market isn't as flooded with files as the photo-market.

I have been thinking about this some more. Sound recording ("sfx" if you prefer) and music should be separated in the stock system. As long as they are baked together as one market recording can never achieve profitability, because they are constantly compared with each other, and music will always be counted higher. Recording have more in common with photography and the pricing of these two categories should be similar.

I can't help have a feelin that sfx recording will never be as profitable as photography, because the market will never be as big as for images. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe in the future. At the moment there's no reason to invest more than a few $ 100 in gear, because you will earn the same royalties whether you used $ 500 or $ 4000 gear when you've made your recording. Well, I will try not to sound negative , I do audio because I love to and selling stock is so far just a funny thing, just as you say microstockphoto. But if profit doesn't improve in the not too distant future, then at least I will consider my involvement in the audio stock business.

I'm not sure, but for Sound effects (sfx)/Recordings and Music I think the buyers are pretty much the same. There's more money in music, but of course takes more time to make.

The big problem with doing sfx recordings (I hate the word SFX, but thats what they call it!) is to make a profit in it. To make a high quality recording, say of a bird soundscape, it take a long time, and the gear isnt cheap, but I earn less compared to what photographers gets for the pictures.

In general, being on these few sites I earned much more than I was earning on Istock. The move from Istock to these other agencies wasn't easy, since I had to upload and configure everything again, but I didn't regret it.

Interesting! I am exclusive on istock today and doing only sfx. I dont know much about how other audio stock sites works and it's always interesting to hear other peoples experiences. I was checking pricing of sfx on some of the other sites but couldn't see there was a big diffenece from iStock, but maybe the royalties are better?

I read on Audiosparx about that they don't accept artists who sell audio through Istockphoto and some others, but one of the first artists I found there is also selling on istock (as nonexclusive of course) so I dont know how hard they really are on this.
