Great idea, go ahead :)

To answer the original question... neustock put it quite short and simple. Three (or more if you can afford it) powerful lightsources set in relation to each other and either bounce them around or apply huge sofboxes. Nuke the studio ;)

What you think about the style, yuri, the tendencies of buyers and so on answers nothing to the orignal post...

that was fun watching, thanks for sharing :)

Was wondering the other day if I like all those publicly available stats.

Did you agree with yourself on something?
What's not to like about those public stats? (Other than the obvious that some self-appointed masters would find it a tad embarrassing...). People claiming to be targets for ripoffs are themselves getting inspiration from others. Theres not that much original material out there.. and if someone wants to copy others work, they'll get numbers elsewhere won't they.

I'd like to see public sale stats at SS too.

Hi Larry,

I'm sorry but I can already say I wouldn't for compositional reasons.
Why are the people walking out of the image? I guess you have their backs to the camera to avoid MR hassel, but then I'd think the image would be better if the people where down in the right hand corner, on their way into the image. Or turned around, on their way towards the camera so we could see the smiles and "oh how fun a field trip they are having."
I'd imagine most people pictures that sell well are ones with faces on, people relate to faces, and emotions expressed by faces can help sell a product. I see no sensation in this image, but faces could change that, and add a feeling, mood or emotion. I don't know if they are on their way on a trip and are having fun or if they are leaving some dull museum and are tired and can't wait to get home...
I'm not sure what commercial use could be put to this photo, some of the inspectors liked it though, that should be good enough :)

best regards

I still hold (hope) that they will announce it in sweden tommorow morning.  That would coincide nicely with the opening of Europe's largest Canon store in Oslo.. which also happens tomorrow.

Hm.. that would make sense if they where announcing it in Norway.. I've been wondering for some time why they would announce it in sweden the first place?

1600$ is too much.

1200$ I would give for a body, but 1600 no.

Lucky you dpreview lists the list price for body as $ 1,299. Pretty close to the 1200.

Exciting! Now with those specs im seriously looking forward to seeing what the 5d can show :D

Best advice would be for you to try it yourself. Bring your camera down to a store that has it and ask if you can take a few shots in the store with it.
I tried one for a few days on a canon body and wasn't to impressed with sharpness and saw alot of fringing, but maybe I'm just picky. I don't know whats typical for  wideangle lenses, the 10-20 was the only one I've tried out properly.

If you haven't already, you should read this. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/digital-wide-zooms/comparison-index.htm

The test itself is on a Nikon body but he also mentions the canon alternative.

Lol, no I wouldn't think so. When you let one go it spreads out, and doesn't just rise in a coloumn. Even if it did you'd have to take an extremely deep breath to help the very least.
I think you'd be better of moving around a bit to create circulation so it gets "diluted" faster and smells less.
I usually just say I let one go, bad stomach, sorry bout that, and thats that problem solved.
Don't eat too many beans :P

That was a wierd question...

I might be a bit slow on the uptake here, but when ppl complain about a site not making any money, an about what a waste of time it was to upload their images; why then want to waste even more time deleting the images from the site again.
I mean, its free to have them online, it doesnt cost you anything, neither time nor effort, and you already feel that youve wasted your time. I can't see how it could hurt to have them online, once theyve already been uploaded. They could actually produce enough sales for a payout, sure most likely in a long long time though.

So why do people want to delete their port from non-producing sites, at the first signs of slow sales?

(and who had honestly thought theyd get a fair amount of sales at a newly founded site already before theyd started their marketing campaign. It takes time to get a customer base.)

What sjlocke said.

Can we see, please ? :)

I was thinking it would be the upload process without the actual upload.. I mean the process from the point of actually having the files on the server and onward.
So actually just the asigning keywords, categories, titles, descriptions, releases and such.

Anyway that was what I thought first time around I read it. If it isnt done that way it should be in my opinion. It would be most useful for others.

I'd like to think that the forums are more than just a corkboard showoff. They are there as a means for contributors to communicate with each other and the site officials, a place to get answers, inspiration and friends. At least thats how they appear when you look at the structure of the forums. It seems the intention of the sites was to create a community around the site and not a brag sheet.
The forums would be more comparable to a huge lunch room/canteen, where people chitchat.
If what they want is a corkboard showoff, it would save a lot of time and effort to just shut down access to the forums for everyone and create bots using different names that post random stuff praising the site.

Of course they can censor as much as they want. Its their forum. What would you expect? Its up to them whether we think it morally acceptable or not.

Thats just lucky for forums such as this :)

Edit: sharply_done: also a good point. No company, say a cardealership, would allow their salesmen to go around and badmouth cars to the customers. "I only get ten percent of the salesprice as a commision if I sell this chevy to you, its crap. But if you buy this Dodge I get 15, you should go with this one instead. By the way I wanted to import a few suzukis but the boss wouldnt let me. He is dumb as an ass, knows absolutly nothing about the biz."

As far as I remember istock states, somewhere in the faq or introduction for submitters, that such info should be placed in the description along with camera model and such if it could be relevant to the reviewer... I might be mistaken though :)

Yeah i  heard that too its true!
I found a way around it tho', i own their system!
Heres a tip to you guys.. http://zapatopi.net/afdb/build.html
I mean, laugh all you want, but try it first it works!

Also I hear that ALL the companies are hiring people just to browse through forums and newsgroups and hack mails to see who is badmouthing the agencies.. and teach them a lesson... ouch...

THE BIG BROTHER is so evil :/
