I think his point was that the child was not dying alone on a street corner without any help. The child was already being helped (allegedly). Nothing wrong with taking a picture. How else would the public know there is an issue if it isn't being reported?

I'm in Canada and have a US bank account in the US. I'm not active in microctock anymore but if you are still making a decent income it would be worth having. I pay 3$ fee per month (it might get waived for a certain balance). The account was set up while I was with RBC Canada a few years ago (I did not physically go to the US). The Paypal dollars stay in US dollars and I use them when I go to the US.

Is small claims court an option? In Canada, claims of up to 25000 can be made in small claims court. This would vary by country but could save you some lawyer fees.

anyone know how often these tax interviews have to be completed? I had filled all the tax forms for all the sites initially and no tax was withheld (Canada) but recently found some sites were withholding tax (I let it go - a gift to my neighbours to the south).

Do we have to fill the forms annually?

the search doesn't pull anything for stock photo - not sure if it is just down - nothing happens at all. There is always small claims court, I suppose. Where is Fiverr based, anyone know?

since you are shooting with canon, you should have a look at the magic lantern "hack" - it really is a huge help (not just for video). I love the focus assist options for macro photography as well. The disclaimers are a bit scary but I think they are just covering themselves. I installed it recently and it works great.

I thought Stockxpert accounts were transferred to IS. I did not know we had to request payouts still from that site. I just checked and had some money sitting there. Are these old sales only? I had deleted my log in info. Fortunately, the password recovery is quick...

I agree with Pixart regarding the verification of the bank account. They would have sent you an email - check your Junk mail folder.

I have never had any issues with Paypal and never heard of anyone else having issues. Most people here are probably using Paypal.

I use this site to find the "blue hour". This is my favorite time for night photography (just before sunrise or just after sunset). It works for cityscapes and also for any building or monument that is well lit.

no point in deleting - still get a few payouts per year mainly from SS and IS. I just have about 400 images online. I had seen microstock as a way to supplement my income once I retired but I am still 10 years out from retirement and don't see microstock as "sustainable" now and even less in the future. In 10 years, the collections will be in the hundreds of million of images and my "exposure" would be a tiny fraction even if I could work on this full time. So I'm looking to invest in real estate instead :-)

I'm a retired microstocker (was a hobbyist - I quit a couple of years ago as the drop in revenue was too steep to justify the work). Chemist and Industrial Hygienist now specializing in emergency response (hazmat).

Still reading the forum by habit but I must say it all seems a bit depressing.

great deal if you're a buyer - not so much if you sell images (Facebook ad from this morning). Not very sustainable I would say for the industry. The company can make a few bucks in the short term. I know this is an old thread but but just came across this this morning.

thx - I kind of figured it would be 18. I think I might just work with him for a couple of years then let him have the account and equipment when he turns 18. Probably the simplest solution.

I quit microstock a couple of years ago but my son has shown some interest. He is just 16. Does any one know if there is a minimum age to submit to stock agencies? I have about $10k worth of equipment sitting around picking up dust. Someone might as well be using it. I would, of course spend some time teaching him the technical aspects. He is very artistic (more so than me) and has more time than I do to invest.

I have a US account with RBC Bank (USA). The bank is in the US. The bank charges me a 3$/month fee, however. If I had more $ in the account the fee would probably be waived. I had opened this account to avoid conversion fees. I was also told in the past that I couldn't use the Canadian RBC US dollar account because Paypal would pay in the currency of the country the bank was based in (i.e. if you select Canada as the country, your US dollars would get converted to Canadian by Paypal and then the bank would convert them back to US dollars...). At least that was my understanding -I never actually tried it. I also didn't try using the Canadian US dollar bank account and identifying it as a US based account as was reported above. It might be worth a try for easier access to your $.
