Let me get back to you on this one, you cant use "World Cup 2010", that's 120% certain.

I work in the design department of one of the worlds biggest bookmakers, and I remember the guys working on the world cup promotions had a major road bump in regards to the whole copyright thing a couple of months ago.

I'll check on Monday, I know they had their legal dudes double check everything was OK before progressing. How exactly they progressed im not 100% sure of(since i didn't work on it). If memory serves me right, "world cup" on its own was acceptable. But again, let me double check that on Monday.

Anyway, in the case of key-wording. I cant see the big issue. Just use terms as football, stadium, crowd etc etc.  Unless somebody is looking for a actual picture of the cup (as in, the trophy) it wont really matter?

It's a waste of time. I upload by batches of 10 to all sites with Filezilla (to IS with Deepmeta) then forget. The only rejects I watch are on SS, DT, and IS. This ispending/isrejected/isaccepted thing is typical for beginners. The people/persons that use iSyndica and Prostockmaster typically. The sales are the bottomline. Just shoot, edit and upload. I removed Lightpro from my disk since it's an amateur tool: it can't clone, it can't reduce noise and it does things with your image beyond control, things you can do better (and controlled) with Photoshop.

do you mean Lightroom is for amateurs? Sounds like you where using it as a photoshop replacement, something its not (and where never meant to be)

I was just wondering if the Lightroom users here uses the software to keep track of what pictures they have uploaded on the different stocksites?

If so, how do you manage this? I have been using keywords like "isaccepted", "isrejected" etc to manage it, but it proved a bit unintuitive/cumbersome, so I've created a simple little plugin that adds a metadata tagset to lightroom. Giving you the option of setting the status of a photograph on each of the big 4 (pending, accepted or rejected).

This can then be used to create smart collections or as panels in the metadata filter.

Anyways, back on subject. It works pretty well, but I kinda want to extend the thing. So I'm trying to get some feedback here to how you guys use lightroom (if any of you does) to keep track of where your photos are uploaded.

call me crazy, but i actually think the istock+deepmeta combo is quite good. Embedded metadata + copy/paste of categories within deepmeta makes it pretty fast to work with.

Sure istocks keywords might be a bit of a pain, but I actually like their keywording system and think its worth the extra time.

I use a Nikon D300, however, I'm pretty keen on:

* Going FF
* Getting more pixels to work with

The D3X is out of my price range, the D700 don't have more pixels. I'm stuck

Since I'm narrow minded and tend to see everything from like, my own little perspective.. i think Nikon is gambling a bit ATM. It seems like people are moving towards FF sensors, which means some people, like me, is having to replace quite a bit of lenses (I only got two FF lenses ATM).

So, a Canon 5D mark II move aren't all that "big a deal" for alot of people?

I'm still holding my breath for a Nikon alternative though, so fingers crossed we'll see a D700x (or whatever) in 2009

The 6 months are fair play, you're agreeing to it when signing up. The "you have to delete the pictures one by one" part is a bit...  "somebody needs to grow up"-ish

I was just wondering, hows your experience using generic model releases with the different agencies? Is some more rigid or other? Have you actually experienced rejects based on not using one of the agencies releases?

thanks for the replies, both of you and just to clarify sjlocke, since you where the one actually putting me straight about IS not having a problem with a picture being uploaded elsewhere as long as its done by a nonexclusive, the reason for this post was to try and determine if any of the other agencies might have a problem with getting content uploaded which is uploaded elsewhere. It wasn't that I didn't understand what you where saying, I'm simply just trying to do a bit of research so I don't step on anybodies toes

Right, I'm a bit confused about one thing. When you submit to different agencies, do you submit the same or different images to the agencies (I'm asking people with nonexclusive contributer accounts)

I always thought you weren't allowed to submit the same photographs to different agencies, but it have recently came to my attention that you are allowed to do so.  Can you lot tell me if this is true for all agencies? I mean, are there any agencies where you aren't allowed to post material thats been posted on other stock sites?

And what is your thoughts on the idea of doing so? is it a good idea or a bad idea in your experience?
