Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock "Losing" Model Releases?
« on: April 03, 2020, 13:14 »
I haven't had that happen but they are saying all of a sudden a model release is "invalid" which is frustrating.

It happened to me several times.

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 Sales Dropped Off

unfortunately it is happening not only with pond5 but with all agencies. Too many clips and pictures customers more and less the same. The imagery market it at its end.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Worst month on shutterstock
« on: June 27, 2019, 13:12 »
unfortunately, SS is going to become a common agency and revenues will be lower and lower. As you can see they allowed everybody to produce pics, most of them are craps, but that is their way of business. It is happening the same thing as with istock. I personally upload pics just for fun as I don't pay a model to get back cents but use it to train my photographic skills.

yes, shutterstock is replacing istock as an agency everyone loves to hate.

So we've got one person saying they use controlled revenue because their sales are gradually decreasing, we've got one person saying they use controlled revenue because their sales are gradually increasing, we've got one person saying they use controlled revenue because their sales are wildly inconsistent, and in the majority of previous posts on the subject... we have people saying that they use controlled revenue because their sales are extremely consistent.

Very compelling evidence.
I think the only evidence is that the more you upload the less you earn in ss and this has been happening since 2017. Almost every old contributor is experiencing this. This is fact.

SS has been a disaster, 30% compared to march more than half than last year, 123 the same as march, istock excellent the double compared to march, fotolia a slight decrease compared to march. On the whole revenues are decreasing quarter to quarter, year to year. The worst is SS which is performing very badly month after month. SS after the quotation in the stock exchange has started to accept everything and good pics have started to mix with the bad ones and the big supply has overwhelmed the demand. So next future will be just a pure amusement to take part in the microstock world.

General Stock Discussion / Re: JULY SALES
« on: July 29, 2017, 04:53 »
my july has been the worst too, I am not positive anymore, the more I upload the less I sell. Well, digital world changes continuosly, I had already put a limit in the profits for the future shooting for microstock, time has arrived. It is high time we gave it up if we wished the profits we have had till 2 or 3 years ago. Microstock companies have opened up to everybody, there isnt almost any control of the quality of the pics, almost everything is accepted so it is almost impossible that our pics, even of highest quality, are bought as before. you cannot help it.

I am experiencing the same thing, I am uploading more and more and sell less, most of the photos sold are the old ones. I think with all this bulk pics it is also difficult to choose the best pics for a customer, I hope they will change something or we will ear just some coffee and enthusiam will die out, better doing something different.

I am experiencing about 30% drop in sales with all the agencies. Maybe the wind is changing.

Sundays tend to be slow

i said saturday, sundays are someone else's saturday or monday, so they are better than saturdays. saturday is the slowest day of the week for me
I agree that there are too many new contents so it is normal that  sales with decrease. Besides so many new contents confuse perpective buyers as they have to scroll among a huge amount pics that maybe the best pics are hidden somewhere in the deep hole of the digital pics produced daily.
