Why can a "personal use" sale be refunded? The buyer downloaded it, used it and asked for a refund? I just had one of these, not happy about it

RPD 0.67, previous month was 0.31, impossible to see trends or draw conclusions, constant up and down, worse than lottery

if you want to exlude lots of domains/agencies or if you do many searches you could just write a userscript and load it to tampermonkey (chrome) or Greasemonkey (Firefox). Or just use one of the existent ones like google hit hider ( http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/95205) and block all the sites you don't want to show up in the results

for Alamy Live News you only need a caption to the IPTC description field and a headline to the IPTC headline field. Individual tags are not needed at all, and you can update the pics with tags once you are home

I have no idea what's going on or what these people are doing. Just received an additional clarification of the original clarification lmao!! I give up. So long as they fill my PayPal with something I'll be happy
they don't seem to have a clue. which is quite worrying

Is anyone showing any high value sales from being included in Getty collections? If so, are you exclusive or indie?
The only way it would be worthwhile to continue with istock would be if there were enough high value sales (earning hundreds each) to compensate for the minimal ones. So far not the case for me.
got 2 huge sales from Getty, which actually saved my January stats. I'm not exclusive so it was a bit surprising, before I only had those 1cent sales from Getty Connect. the other thing I was wondering about and never saw it before is the sold files marked as "Microsoft COO/Portal" in "Agent" column. Does anyone know what are these?

the text file is comma separated, so you can open it in Excel. When opening in Excel an import file window pops up, you can hit next, next, next.
Once it opens in Excel, select Insert menu and then "Pivot table", New worksheet and hit OK. Once there you can select the columns you want to display and get access to analyzable data. It's a real pain.
They have a detailed guide about the steps above, not sure if we can link it here: its under resources/getting started/royalties guide

i think it will take days to decipher the new reporting scheme.
i've also spotted some files with 0.00 commission, but in those cases I also see another entry with same file and buyer with a 15% commission.
what makes me really unhappy is that i see a lot of files with 0.05 and 0.09 commissions from subscriptions

I finally got access--- is this only for Jan? My balance was twice this and more when access was shut off. have not been paid either since before shut off. Did I suddenly lose a lot of my royalties?
I was taking a wait and see approach as whether I choose to upload or not.
in the detailed text file, which i converted to excel I have an entry called "payment carried forward", it's the amount which disappeared in january in deep meta 2 and the istock site

but how to estimate?
amounts disappeared in january, when accounts were reset due to technical error incompetence, as for PP sales we are kept in the dark and the new system is not working due to technical issues.
I think it's highly embarassing for a company like Getty/IS and I'm sure it would have an impact on customers if they knew about it. Unfortunately that would hit back at us, contributors, but still I wonder why there are no news articles about such a failure, and the non-transparent, shady business management.

protest photos sell quite well, especially if they are about an ongoing issue, like the ones in Seoul. The pictures I took from protests here in Brazil 2 years ago are still selling well, mostly to illustrate news or blog articles about economy, corruption, political crisis, etc.

same here 92USD missing. First I assumed that with the unreported subscriptions I reached payout and they are preparing the payout. But it`s not the case. It is this shady, non-transparent transition they will be blaming all technical difficulties for a year or two.
According to their forum our balances will be restored only on February 20th with the new sales report. Until then our only option is to trust them, which is from my perspective getting harder and harder.
With the deactivation of many of my editorial files, the incompetent transition to the new system and the new royalty scheme I will close my account once I get the payout after february.

got the notification too and it affects me really bad. I was waiting to see the new system and then decide whether to close my account or not, but with the editorial deactivations just got one step closer.
I had a bunch of editorial political photos mostly from African countries taken during elections in the past 10 years, they were not the "breaking news" type, but were selling quite well as secondary editorial whenever those countries were hitting the news pages and niche blogs. Also had some high profile politicians rallying in the rural areas usually not covered by professional news journos/photographers.
I simply can't get Istock's logic, they were making profit from those pictures, as I was making money. Now they simply demoted iStock contributors with editorials to second class contributors and are deactivating our files. So not, I won't be applying to Getty, instead will try to place them on Alamy once the files are gone on iStock.

my port is almost entirely based on editorials, they sell quite well on SS and also on Alamy

my November was really good when compared to last year`s November. December so far seems worse, and during holidays it will go down even more as I don`t have any Xmas thematic pictures.
In previous years I had big increase in editorials during the last week, I am not completely sure why but could be related to agencies, newspapers, websites burning what`s left in their 2016 budget and stocking for 2017

as for volume iStock still wins, but it's almost exclusively subscription sales for 0.28. I stopped submitting there a couple of months ago. At Alamy not so many sales but much higher revenue ranging between 15-150$/sale

I'd change the title of the topic to New Images not selling well at all on DT
