Actually the world map is much better...its vectorial now, just zoom with ctrl+ or command+ if you want it bigger.
Plus the pics don't disappear anymore and that was really annoying  8)

I can't correct you - I'm not an image thief or buyer. But buyers will buy and thieves will thieve, whether it photos, music, clothes, cars or groceries -- whatever. The problem is much deeper than a weak watermark. The term 'Royalty-Free' is no help, and that so many think that everything on the internet is or should be free. I just don't think anybody is going to wholesale copy your portfolio and sit there and remove 1200 watermarks. Doesn't sound cost effective. They'd probably get a subscription and just download the whole lot without watermark, or more likely use Google to find un-watermarked images.

It's just one opinion but I think those who are suspending uploads, deleting images and even whole portfolios are 'cutting off their nose to spite their face".

If anyone thinks all this hubbub will really affect the way SS does business is sadly wrong. They will do the things they decide will help their business, not your business. We are not partners, their success is not dependent on any 1 or 500 contributors. They spent the time and money to give us a 'final' watermark - don't expect anything more.

Their success IS dependent on each of those 500 contributors, because every contributor is important, your work is important and must be protected. If a big company can't protect/represent your work because there is a watermark that everybody can clean up in a minute with the clone stamp tool or even the brush, they are failing in their job.

remember: chance of stealing decreases = more $$$$ in your bank account

Probably because there is a large preview (1500x1100 pixels) of all pictures with a non-existent watermark?  8)

The grid of the preview v2 (black footer) is not even visible on black backgrounds....

And since some pics are blatantly given away now, customers wouldn't be "thieves"...they are just regular customers that accept a big xmas present from SS

30th october 2015, 14:15 in Rome, Italy. The preview with white footer is still there...among million of images.

next step: they will show the large preview directly on the sky like the Bat-Signal :)

I've noticed this large preview a few days ago...
I usually make my vector images very fast, so it's not a huge problem for me if somebody downloads a few of them without paying. But I know, there are many of contributors who put large amount of time into their works.
(The images I've put the most work into are never purchased...)

Am I right, that now previews are not as large as a few days ago?

Yep, they look smaller

Anyway it's not a problem of sales only... it's a problem of copyright...

I don't like the idea of some random people saving image with invisible filigree by right-clicking on it and put it on fb cover :)

"This new watermark and larger image preview is designed to drive more download opportunities for your creative work while protecting it."

1) if a customer needs/likes a pic, he will just buy it anyway without staring at the large preview

2) if a customer does not like a pic, he will take it anyway since it is for free now...:D

what a shame...
