Hi guys,
@ Increasingdifficulty, I've asked my boss if I can openly clarify which deals Clippn has with each agency, if you could email me I'll get back to you privately on that.
For now, we solely distribute through other agencies yes.
The Clippn model is optimal for people who don't enjoy the post-production/meta data side of the stock footage industry.
I understand we may not be what your looking for if you already have a existing library of curated content already available for sale on the agencies but perhaps consider uploading your next 1000 raw clips to us and see what we can do for you.
You own the footage you give to us, the contract gives us the rights to sell the edited clips for 18 months initially I believe and then 12 months reoccurring afterwards.
speaking personally:
Before working with Clippn I was just submitting stock on the side, I found the exporting, uploading and meta data especially to be very time consuming and I didn't enjoy that. Personally I love the Clippn model because it allows me to just go out and shoot - that's the bit I enjoy the most.
There are a lot of shooters like me who favour this way, yes we split the revenue with Clippn 50/50 but I've found their model to be more fruitful. The curators know their stuff and due to the number of agencies Clippn works with we sell around 50% more than the "average" contributor, this statistic is based off discussions we've had some of the agencies. I believe most of the people on this board are seasoned professionals however and that probably doesn't apply to them.
Once your approved by one of our curators your given access to a dashboard. I don't know why I can't post links ect but if you google Clippn Dashboard and go to images the first one by prweb is a picture of the UI. You can track which clip has made what for you at which agencies, what rating we give it, what you personally could do to improve, ideas and demand based on requests we get from the agencies and your monthly sales ect.
If anyone wants to know more try skyping me or sending me a email at william . hunter @ Clippn . com (remove spaces)
If anyone reading this likes the idea of Clippn and would like to work with myself please sign up through www. clippn. com/ william-hunter/ (remove spaces)
You can sign up through the site as well if you like but I won't be able to work with yourselves on a more tailored level
I'll be able to explain more over email, I don't know why I cant post links ect. Outside of work i'm a long time lurker on this forum but never posted.
I hope I've answered some of your questions, it's so cool to talk to other shooters
Thanks
William
