There is some money to be made in stock , but it is a numbers game.  The more images the better your chance of sales.  Also, when shooting, try to keep in mind "what kind of customers will this image be useful to?"  For instance, your shots of Amsterdam would certainly apply to the travel industry, so make sure you keyword them with words like travel, travel destination, landmark, and such.  Shoot more close ups, details usually sell well. one of my popular shots was of french fries cooking at a local outdoor fair.  My port has about 17000 images and generates between $800-1200 per month consistently.   Nice passive income.  All photos, no video.   Keep at it, and always have your camera ready.  Good lluck

I agree with the rest, it's really not worth the risk.  A real estate broker I shoot for asked if she could but images from me directly instead of through IStock where I am exclusive.  I told her no, because I did not want to risk my 13 year relationship with Istock/Getty.  for a few extra $.  However, an excursion boat I shot in the Virgin Islands, contacted me to ask if I could change my file from editorial only to creative so they could use it in their ads.   I asked them to sign a release, they did, and it was a win-win all around

Good month overall.  $ 45% over January 2020 29% over February 2019.  RPD 25% over January 2020

Good month financially.  80% over December 2017  (very bad month) and 30% over November 2018 but 33% of d/ls were for $0.22 or less and 25%+ were at $0.00.  I would be in pretty good shape if I got paid something for the hundreds of shots given away.

Way back in the early days of microstock, iStock, after accepting you into their fold would allow you to submit 15 images PER WEEK.  If you were serious about building your port on line you made sure those images were the very best you could provide.  After several hundred downloads they would raise you to 30, 50, 100 then unlimited uploads.  Now, as you mentioned, everything seems to be accepted.  Is it right? who knows. If you have an image that is very unusual yet a bit out of focus will a buyer use it? perhaps, but I really feel that good quality, interesting, creative images will come out on top in the long run.  Those folks who are uploading everything are doing themselves and their agencies a disservice as are the agencies who are accepting everything that is uploaded.

To get a very rough idea of how you are doing on a real time basis, you can keep track of your daily downloads by marking them down at the same time each day and then multiply them by last months average $per download.  This is not an exact science but it will give you a very rough estimate.
