+1 more to the RAW method here.

I'm using a 350D and setting the CS3's RAW converter to make the image a 17mp image does the trick.

I did a test between using the RAW method, CS3's bicubic and genuine fractals. Personally I saw little difference between them even at 200-300%, so RAW won based on ease of use.

I use lunarpages.

My blog is hosted on them, as well as several other sites.

My magic 8 ball says:   ;D

As more companies start using microstock for advertising, more companies are going to get burnt when the images used are used by someone else simultaneously. Microstock companies will attempt to combat the negative outcomes of this by moving their top exclusive content into a more RM style of licensing.

I think the RF side will have a greater variety of pricing, with web sized and low quality images  prices staying as they are or getting even cheaper, with larger file sizes and higher quality more popular images gaining in price.

The subscription sites will implement new subscription options (think a cheaper web size only version).

Rights buyouts will become more and more common, and the pricing for them will increase.

And if these don't come true, it is because a super advanced alien race has messed with the space time continuum, and not because I don't have a clue.

Latex, get a VISA card.

I just transfer my money bookers earnings straight to my credit card.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Tilt Shift Lens

Thanks for the replies. I am less interested in the shift, and more interested in the tilt ability. So no, no architecture.

For me controlling the focal plane in studio/product shots seems much more interesting. Though I think I might not end up using it nearly as much as I hope.

Cameras / Lenses / Tilt Shift Lens

I was wondering if anyone here owns and uses a tilt shift lens for their stock photography.

I was wondering what lens might be good to add to my meagre lens collection, and it strikes me that the added DOF from the tilt function might be quite useful in stock photography. Are they worth the cost?

First time I'm posting these stats. I don't have a huge portfolio (all around 70 images).

As usual IS was over half of my income, and for the first time since I started last year, DT had no sales.

IS    64% (65 images)
SS   18% (70 images)
StockXpert    19% (79 images)
DT      0% (77 images)

Check out the number of downloads vs the total earnings for a particular image on my downloads page.

Perhaps I hold the record for the most number of downloads, and at dirt cheap prices.  ::)

I'm not laughing though, not sure what to make of it  :-\

Looks like you have -1 downloads (cast to an unsigned 32 bit integer). Sorry for the programmer talk, but the bug will be simple enough for them to fix.

P.S. How it got to -1 however, is another matter altogether...

well if you take the 10mp image down to 8mp i am guessing you would have significantly less noise, especially if the noise on the 40D is improved allready.

As I understand it, the reduction in initial noise from a larger photo sensor, outperforms what you'd gain from reducing the image size in post production.

What I'd love (and seriously consider upgrading to) would be a 40d that kept it's 8megapixels with vastly reduced noise at all ISO's (think 1D MK3). Add in Digic III and perhaps a few other tweaks and I'd be happy.

What we'll probably get is a 400D with higher fps and metal body.
