The error is uploading to shutterstock in the first place. 10 cts sales are ridiculous.

2
Shutterstock is so bad since this 2020 that I reach a payout maybe twice a year so yeah I upload systematically to adobe and have avoided shutter since they reduced my pay cut.

I am in the same boat and think I should stop uploading anything to shutterstock. All I get are 10 cts sales and that takes me no where.

Hi guys, I was able to see the available earnings before but now they're gone and I have no way of knowing how much I've got available for payouts... On another note I have no way of knowing what has sold recently as I used to so I can't tell what is selling and what is not...

Glad it is finally happening. Too much content that should not be there. SS is not doing enough because it is profiting big for doing nothing most of the time. I hope this time it hits them hard.

Adobe Stock / Re: Low Adobe sales past few weeks
« on: September 01, 2022, 21:23 »
I've had the best month ever on AS.  Despite having a very small portfolio (around 300 images/clips), I managed to sell around $150 in this week alone, so I'm a happy bunny.

Wow wish I knew what I was doing wrong, Inhave 1300 images and only make payout every other month. But at least Inget that so Im not a looser haha Ill gladly take any advice!

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 Sales & Discounting
« on: July 18, 2022, 11:51 »
Today I sold 3 clips on P5, and 2 of them were discounted by over 50%. I checked and none of those clips are available as subscriptions when you filter as Subscriptions in the search under Collections. So I am assuming it cannot be that.

I know that P5 reserves the right to lower pricing for non-exclusive contributors if they believe its too high for that type of asset, but when I checked the listed price they are listed as $57.00, not $26.00. See below.

I am interested in what other P5 contributors are experiencing with their sales there, after the SS takeover, plus it might be a good opportunity to collect some collective info here. Plus any thoughts.

You mean you guys are making sales?

Email now reads:
"This is an automated notification. Your portfolio includes images that have been online for more than 4 years with no downloads up to the present. In order to keep up with the current standards we recommend transferring them to the free section, allowing fresh content to be more visible.

The following action options are available for you to decide:

- donate the image to the free section which can provide significant portfolio exposure and increase your sales; images can be disabled at any time later. Wasn't the default that the image stays on line? or at least you could set it to that?

Also the "old files" page now only gives the re-keyword (for a fee) or move to free section with no option I can see to just keep it online, even though the email says this is an option. Is this a new policy?

Why i left them and wirestock. Theyre just waiting for you to slip and take your images

Hello

A little rant from me for hearing too much about Wirestock: https://xpiksapp.com/blog/never-use-wirestock/

Let me know what are you thoughts! Do you think this is all wrong and actually WS is a good time investment?

I was there for a little while amd left once I found my images were being given away in a free site just because they didnt sell well. That really sucked.

You mean the instant pay program? I cant recall Wirestock giving images away for free other than instant pay, which you can opt out of.

They don't give away photos that don't sell well, Wirestock sells nothing, doesn't give away anything, and some of the other comments are also nothing but what if, as they go out of business? Facts are they distribute our work and take 15% for doing that. Like it or don't, but that's not why "you should never ever work with Wirestock". [end of quote] [repeat line] Wirestock sells nothing, the agencies, which are the same agencies, are the same as if we upload ourselves. How can anybody blame Wirestock!

Whatever helps you sleep at night but thats how they do it. Thats what they did to me.

Hi guys.

So, for once, I'm not going to complain (that much). I was slowly starting to work on my June report, and I noticed my numbers on AS significantly improved. I started to make some year to date comparison, and I realized it's something pretty recent, as the first part of the year was pretty disappointing. RPD is still lower, but not that much compared to the first part of the year.

I wanted to know if I was the only one to experience such changes (and, if there are some guys from AS passing by, if they can tell us something about some recent news that could have impacted sales that well).

I could have agreed untill this month, since they started with this give us your worknsonwe can give it away for free my sells went to aero.

I've been lurking in this forum for a while now, and it was very depressing lol.
It seems like the microstock market is a sinking ship, and I was really serious about starting to upload some of my art, but I don't know anymore.
Maybe people only post when they are unhappy and want to complain and successful people are silent lol. Can anyone tell some recent success story?
You mention your 'art'.
Stock and art are not the same thing, and you might be better served looking at some art selling sites.
(That said, there have been people posting here specifically asking about outlets for their "Fine Art Photography", which was anything but.)

Imhave a question here. Been uploading since 2018, and wonder how do you know what youre doing? What sites do you recomend to get metric data on tendencies? Thanks!

Adobe Stock / Re: strange rejections
« on: May 11, 2022, 11:42 »
I keep getting photo rejections for 'technical reasons' on adobe when there's nothing wrong with them, they are at least properly focused, lit & exposed. Is there anything I'm missing there? I even shoot in RAW now and get slightly sharper and better quality images. Some photos rejected had a small DOF area in focus intentionaly but will the rewiewer realise that?
When I started over 2 years ago I hardly ever got any rejects apart from IP rejects even though I only shot in JPEG and was a stock beginner but have improved greatly since

Me too whole batch on technicalities. Perfectly exposed, always use exposimeter and in focus. Dont get it.

In March i had about 12 000 connected sales, mostly from Australia (revenue ~$53) . This was the first time while I am in IS.

Did I understand correctly that you sold 12,000 images and made 53 bucks?

Got this:

Sounds very bad. Does anyone know how to change default option for "keeping images online", or "delete images"? I've tried to find it but I can't.

I don't want to "donate" anything to free section, I've never opted-in for anything like this and I hate seeing this as a default option.

I talked about this before in other forums and people got mad for some reason thought I was lying. Anyway this was the reason I left them. They had 3 of my images in a so called free site but the site did charge a one time fee.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Sale have stopped?
« on: February 23, 2022, 13:22 »
They have dropped for me like 60% compared to how it was a few months ago.
You should not compare your February sales with sales from a few months ago. Sale numbers are very different in different months, depending on what your port has to offer. February tends to be a rather slow month for most contributors comapred to other months.

I uploaded about 1000 images and around 300 videos and guess how many got accepted? around 300 photos and les than 10 videos.

Not useful info really... I didn't star yesterday in this.

Compare to Adobe stock they accepted around more than 500 photos and about 100 videos.
If you have a rejection rate of 90% on Shutterstock and 50% at Adobe you should really re-think your strategy, because there is something seriously wrong with your content. It's not Shutterstock, it's your photos.
A rejection rate of less than 5% on both SS and Adobe would be normal. With everything more than 10% I'd really re-evaluate the quality of the content I submit.

They have dropped for me like 60% compared to how it was a few months ago. I mean it wasnt like I swimming in success or anything but definitly feel that images that sold all the time suddenly stopped selling. While others have gained traction.

Anyways they reject half of everything so I guess theres hardly any new content for clients. I uploaded about 1000 images and around 300 videos and guess how many got accepted? around 300 photos and les than 10 videos.

Compare to Adobe stock they accepted around more than 500 photos and about 100 videos.

Looks like Yuri isn't exclusive anymore or has made some weird deal with istock.

It seems that Yuri Arcirs is uploading images to Dreamstime.

It is not an old abandoned portfolio, it is new uploads, today 10,000 photos and 21 sales

What a disappointment when he upload it again to shutterstock.

Exclusive is great if your sales are consistent and steady in the same company. But if sales go down and become a hit or miss its logical to opt for other agencies.

Funny Yuri is still on several different sites. I thought he had his own gig going but tells you how the industry is performing.

« on: February 16, 2022, 11:19 »
Our biggest enemy is free stock images and videos. Those sites are becoming more and more popular. Those sites are owned by companies like dreamstime, wirestock etc. Wether you are aware of it, agreed to it or not some companies like ones mentioned give your work for free in exchange for a small rate. Smaller than what shutterstock charges but without the overhead of reviewing photos, categorizing or keywording since thy come straight out of our ports.

If nothing was given away we would have a business.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Sales are so slow this days
« on: January 18, 2022, 18:00 »
Adobe has become a ghost ship. Tripled portfolio size on last year and the sales have dropped off a cliff for several weeks. I've had 2 sales in the last month despite being on page 1 of quite a few images. Ive seen my portfolio shuffling about with images rising to the top and sitting there but nothing gets bought. Then they drift down again. I know what that looks like to me.

Interesting, so you are personal proof that being on page one, doesn't really mean automatic downloads and more money? I always thought page one was a prize.

You have personally seen your images get a boost, as new or just some other reason, and then go down into the average area? Does AS have a new image boost? I never took the time to do research and make notes for verification.

Adobe is slow to adapt and learn. Its like a giant corporation that gets it until its late in the game. They're problem is the same problem they have with adobe CC, its called regionalization. Every image and customer is regional. For instance If youre in Central America, some countries there cant buy any adobe stock images, you just cant subscribe to them or the CC cloud for adobe software. So theres a lot of customers that can't buy stuff from all over the world. All they do is search for references and either shoot the images or get them from somewhere else.

21
It took 6 days to reach level 2 and earn $33. It's 33 cents per download thanks to today's $18 single. How is your progress?

By the way I have the same earnings on Adobe with 32 downloads.

* I must be doing something wrong hahaha

Dreamstime.com / Re: deactivate dreamstime account
« on: December 08, 2021, 17:12 »
Hi I contacted this lady [email protected], and she helped me close the account. I closed it because of the same reason I closed wirestock, my images ended up in freeware sites.
quote:

Content appears in freeware sites with Wirestock?, this is interesting. This industry is beyond dirty and nothing but a ticket to bankruptcy. Thanks for outing that one, glad I didn't try them, I bet the mainstream sites are doing the same thing with our content but through various "global partners" and shell companies that remain anonymous and we wonder why we aren't getting sales and can't make a living at this anymore.

Wirestock does not license off to freeware sites or do any underhanded trick opt out deals. If someone comes here and doesn't understand the system, and didn't read the terms, the first thing they do is accuse the agency, then others pile on with more false information and it's not worth explaining anymore after the lies are posted and quoted and believed.

Instead of taking the time to write and explain, (since I've been criticized for long clear and accurate answers) I'll just say Instant Pay Program which is https://wirestock.io/terms_of_use#:~:text=Wirestock%20refers%20to%20this%20as%20%22Instant%20Pay%22%20or,Content%20be%20included%20for%20the%20Instant%20Pay%20Program.

Go figure it out for yourself. That's how the images get to free sites, not because of a hidden check box.

Yeah its a shame, we keep wondering whats going on only to find our content being made available for free just because we "Didnt opt out" of some hidden check box or email we didnt notice. But yeah its going down the drain...

Not True

That's a really good find, I know the various agencies are "trafficking" our video and photo content over the world with their various partner programs and deals but I guess these submitter sites like Wirestock as doing the same, nothing is free so I guess that's how they make additional revenue, by selling our content wholesale to the free sites.

It's not a find, it's not sold wholesale, the program is clearly documented and identified. If someone takes the time to read on the Wirestock site instead of accusing them of trafficking our work behind our backs.

They pay $4.25 for each image chosen by the client. If anyone doesn't want to, they should NOT check the box when they upload that says Instant Pay. In other words images are OUT unless someone checks that box when they upload and select what agencies. Just the opposite of what the OP and you are claiming.

Attached is a screen shot of an email I got after I asked what was going on when I found my stuff out there in the wild, where they explain clearly, "They give you a chance to opt out". Otherwise your stuff is out there for them and others to profit for nothing.

Good luck but I stick with what is clear to me and am not waiting on emails for opting out or whatever man.

Hello everyone, I would like to deactivate my dreamstime account, does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

Hi I contacted this lady [email protected], and she helped me close the account. I closed it because of the same reason I closed wirestock, my images ended up in freeware sites. Turns out if you dont opt out when they send you some email about images that dont sell, they then give them for free but for a fee in a site that is a spin off of they'res. I thought it was shady. I much prefer straight forward practices like adobe, they pay you 5 bucks and after a year its back to business as usual. They're not waiting and hoping you miss an email or an opt out check box.

best.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Sales are so slow this days
« on: November 22, 2021, 12:19 »
Adobe stock has given me zero sales for about a month now. Shutter is doing better than it was before, but Adobe has taken a huge plunge ever since this free stuff and regional sales started.

Two weeks of nothing, then a week of four sales (0.66, 0.40, 033, 0.33). At least better than nothing, but it's not much.  :-[

Yeah agree its something hehe good thing is I got around 500 plus pics and footage I've manage to do that have to key word and upload but am not done editing some videos but am almost there...
