Shutterstock.com / Re: Anybody getting reviews?

Interesting to note that since SS aquired Pond5, the speed of them reviewing submissions has gone from about 4-5 days to a few hours.

Congratulations on getting $1.88. I once got paid 10 cents for an image that ended up on a classical music CD cover. Furthermore, it was an image that was classified as editorial, because it had IP content. Understandably, I was very unhappy about this and contacted SS complaining that an editorial image had been used for commercial purposes. They politely told me to sling my hook.

There may be another explanation. As an example of this, on Alamy, some sales do not show up in your sales history for ages. On one occasion, I noticed a shot of mine that was exclusive to Alamy had been used in a calendar. The actual sale did not show up for at least 3 months.

October & November were OK for me, with a slight decrease in sales/earnings in December. In January, the amount of sales was the same (around 130), by my earnings were less than half what I did in Oct and November with the same amount of sales.  So far this month, I've had about 40 sales, where normally it would be around 60. Revenue is still on the low side.

Whilst at Adobe and with less than half the amount of images and clips than I have at SS, sales and revenue are pretty stable.

are anybody recieve payment from shutterstock this month?
usualy 3-5 of the month
but this month no letters no money

I received payment today.

Despite doing the same amount of downloads I do every month (around 120), my earnings from those DL's were about 45% down from previous months. My downloads and earnings on Adobe are where I expect them to be.

Looks like a little bit of updating has been done.

You can now copy and paste keywords by clicking the '...' at the end of the keyword field. Plus, the Location field has been put back.
Hopefully they will add the filter/keyword search field back in the Catalog Manager too.

I normally get to the $100 mark every 6 or 7 months. I do find it curious that as soon as I get around the $95 mark, sales always seem to slow down to a snails pace. I'm sure it's just a coincidence...

Shutterstock.com / Re: What happened to the Catalog Manager?
« on: December 24, 2023, 12:12 »
I'm not sure why they bother having the Catalog Manager at all. If you can't even do the absolute basics - such as searching for a specific image using a keyword, it serves no purpose.

Why do they do this?!!

It's terrible! They've removed the search / filter facility in the Catalog Manager, so you now have to trawl through pages of images to find the image you want. It basically makes the manager completely useless.

Shutterstock.com / Contributor Dashboard down?

I can't seem to access the contributor dashboard on both my desktop and app. Anyone else having the same issues?

Just come on here to ask the same question! About $50 has been added to my earnings.

More than likely, no.

Might be worth backing up your stuff next time...

Adobe Stock / Re: review times??
« on: August 27, 2023, 12:45 »
Yes, their review times are ridiculous. I've been waiting around 3 weeks for some images to be reviewed. Sites like Shutterstock and Alamy only take a couple of days to clear at their very worst.

It's a pity. Despite having a very small portfolio (around 300 images) on Adobe, they sell quite well. I would supply far more images to them if their submission page was more user-friendly, and if their review times were massively improved. If they want to compete with the other libraries, they really need to get their act together.

My hunch is that the lower payout figure is to butter people up in preparation for an 'exciting' announcement, where they are going to lower the commission rates, again.

Shutterstock.com / How many people hit Level 6 on earnings?
« on: July 25, 2023, 12:37 »
Curious to know how many people manage to hit Level 6 on image and / or video sales. Does anyone know? The highest I've managed to hit is Level 4 on images, and TBH, I think it's unlikely I'll hit Level 5.

Bosh!

Nice start to the day.

About a year ago, I used to get a video clip sale about once every 10 days or so. Now I'm lucky to get one sale every 3 months.  :(

Pond5 / Setting prices for photos on P5
« on: January 03, 2023, 07:53 »
I know that most people go to P5 for videos, but I thought I would have a try uploading some photos on P5, so I'm going to submit some photos that have sold well on other stock sites.

For people who submit photos to P5, what price do you set your photos at? I see P5 set $5 as a default price, but what do you set them at?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Not Editorial use?
« on: November 02, 2022, 08:46 »
Not worry about it.  End usage is the buyers problem.

I appreciate that it's the buyer's problem, but surely if it's being used for commercial purposes, then I should be paid appropriately for that?

Shutterstock.com / Not Editorial use?
« on: November 02, 2022, 08:15 »
I think I know the answer to this question, but I've just discovered a photo of mine that has been used on a cover of a CD. I've only sold it once through Shutterstock (I got 10 cents for it). It is marked as editorial. As the image is of a sculpture with wording from a poem on it. I would assume that usage on an album cover is not classed as editorial, but commercial?

I am going to write to the person concerned to ask where he purchased the licence (the shot is with 2 other libraries), but what would you do under these circumstances?

When SS say something new is 'exciting'. You just know it probably isn't.

DL's at normal levels, but the actual earnings on those DL's are about 40% down.
