Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Down?
« on: September 06, 2020, 09:48 »
Hello, is 3-4 days Adobe dashboard is unreachable for me, blank page, via Firefox as usual.
But pasting the url in safari it works

I have a D700 as main body, but use a D200 for water sports, think at the sensor size DX, so the focal lenght is about 1,5; I use a nikkor 70-210 2.8 VR (absolutely usefull VR)  and I think that longer lenght for surfer is better, like 300-400 mm on the FX sensor size. But it is a range of expensive lenses.
Look at mine work in www.fotoregata.it.
P.S.: very difficult to shot with the boat on movement, consider stopping and waiting for the surfer.....

They may be rolling this out gradually and only some contributors see it at this point.

Alamy does this all the time.

Istock in the past did it the opposite way and failed many times when going live with new features (available to everyone).

Sorry click_click, maybe my english is bad: where is in alamy? I never see this function. Dove sta?

@click_click,
can you tell me were I can find in alamy this nice lesson of geography?

Adobe Stock / Re: New prices for unsold files at FT
« on: September 03, 2010, 01:18 »
Today I have a mail sent by fotolia, 130 of my files was unsold for 24 months, and they suggest to give them for free, locking for five years in they partner sites. In that batch of photos there are many that sell well in other agency, and one was sell yesterday for 360$ in alamy as RF. I agree with a survey warning that images very low seller need some work in keywords, category, etc. But I can't imagine how giving it for free will improve my sales.

I don't think there are earning in microstock for editorial, so I upload only in L at Alamy

Alamy.com / Re: I got first sale on Alamy
« on: April 05, 2010, 02:52 »
As I read interesting comments on this thread, I can add my experience with Alamy: I have 7 sales from 2008 when I start with Alamy, 2 RM and 4 RF and 1 NovelUse, so the gross is 630$.
I have now 1000 images, half RF, with not too many problems for quality check.
I think Alamy is more RM oriented but for my experience there are more traffic in RF than RM, sales and zooms said it, so I don't know how to best assets my strategy. Ah...the sales are all without zooms.....can you imagine a buyer who buy without zooming the image? Having zooms increase your rank, my RM portfolio is good quality but with  0 or little zooms, so I can't imagine how can i sell my pictures not showing them....

Hi group, there is no way to fix in the shooting, and the only way I know to fix it, is to paint with paintbrush in color metod, but I feel it is not the right way. How do you fix it?
Thank you

Alamy.com / Re: Site problems and hostility
« on: June 09, 2009, 17:14 »
the biggest issue I have with Alamy is unreported sales and sometimes very delayed payment system. I hope they will make the buyers pay at the time of sales, not a few months later.

Unreported sales? this is a big issue if this is with bad intention... you are very luckie to discover it... About the delayed payment, when I was working with traditional film stock agency they report the sales only when they was payed from customer and it was sometime 180 days after the publication....this is the editorial world....

14
.... and 20% of the earnings are not so fine for a newly beginner agency, don't you think?....

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Digital Back for Medium Format?
« on: November 20, 2008, 23:50 »
When I buy my imacon flexframe 30x20, maybe 7-8 years ago, I own a zenza SQA system and , because there was not the adapter plate for zenza, my mechanical lab modify (say destroy) a film back holder for it. Only to know too late that because the zenza sqa don't fit motor grip (onli SQA-I can) and for it don't work with digital backs. So I have bought a new mamiya 645 pro TL system, with 3 lens, extension tube, viewfinder, motorgrip, etc... Four month after Mamiya announced the new AF body and the new system with lenses that don't fit the older body.  Times are changed but I don't know if SQA work with today digital backs. Now I want to go Hasselblad, so if you like to buy this gear I will be happy.

question is: are the photos taken with your camera good enough?
I have a nikon d200 and i see a lot of noise in the dark area also in the shot taken at 100 Iso in the full day light. Of course it will be rejected or over filtered if you try to remove noise.
So better camera better accetance rate i think. Any similar experience?

17
Don't worry about the rejection, on fotolia you can resubmit some day after and you will be accepted maybe because another person is checking your photos. In Istock a rejection lower your rating, you lose more time than a week and one of 15 chance to upload for every rejection you have, and some time the reason are very silly, take a look at this one

Thank you chumley, but let me be surprized:
have tou in the past years done 1500$ per image , total of about 1.800.000 $ in five years time?
Where I was sleeping? looking in my Outlook emails I have found a letter from Alamy of about ten years ago, so I remember I was lookin for at this time, but not following that path. Maybe I have loose my train, now? In november will be one year I am part time working for MS, but at now only a dozen of images are decent selling rate, over an average two hundred. I know I will work better focused on, but I have not too much time to invest. A prevision of the Return of investment time shall be an incentive to work more focused

...referring on the lasts replies on the "are we slaves of microstock industries", how old are your older images that are selling steadly today? and hoping that have steadly downloads for the next future, How long you think is the life of average selling pictures?

Adobe Stock / Re: FT subs already started!
« on: June 02, 2008, 23:17 »
on the average time I think buyer don't reach to download the total number of photos they subscribe on, or if they do, never use more than a little part of the downloaded. In the first case, there is a gain for the agency, and not too much interest for the photographer, in the second case there is a loss for the agency (0,33 x 750=247,5$ to pay photographers ) and interesting income for photographer. Is like a bet, we hope for the second behavior....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Feasability Study
« on: May 18, 2008, 09:25 »
I start uploading on microstocks in november, only to see what happen in this industry and if it can be part of my full time photographer job. I upload about 15 to 30 pictures each week usually preparing in the early sunday morning, when family are sleeping. You need time to shooting, time to edit, time to apply keywords, time to upload, and time to learn from others people.
In may I hit 200 photos in some microstock and 100 in istock with various acceptance ratio and little less than 50% in Istock. My sells are about 500$ in SS and 200$ in IS, plus 20$ each one of the others principal sites. You must consider the archive you have and the photos you will shoot tomorrow, and as well as you have some thousand of stock photos in your personal portfolio, the one that will sell more is the one you shoot for this market. I have 10.000 slides to scan, 30.000 digital file  to browse for the stock photos, and some daily job to do. And a wife and two children. You need time to go up but you can. I think the best way to go in this market is to begin and learn all you need to do your best. Ah.... of course, I assume you know what you need to know to be a good  photographer.

23
The question is still there... what you sell as Rf and what as RM?
I am still uploadin on almy the same images I upload on the big six but I don't understand why a customer will pay 300 $ for a RF on alamy that is also on Istock...
I think I continue to upload on alamy My RF shots but one day I will begin to Upload some travel shots that I feel don't sell too much on microstock; think you this is a good way?
P.S.: about * up.... I really don't understand why photographers are so conflictual with customers, there is some frustrations in this job...

Software - General / Re: Lightroom vs. Aperture
« on: March 29, 2008, 23:32 »
Hi, Know you if there is problem importing in lightroom all the job you has done in aperture (albums, projects, keywords not embedded, etc.)? I am thinking to migrate but if can't import the job of 37000 and over photos, it is simply crazy to think.
