99% of "art" is bought to impress.   It doesnt matter what it is.

Why is the customer buying RF directly from you?     You can hardly beat the orice, or?  This is more common when it comes to Rm or full rights

Tip of the day:  Never do what is working best for you!  Always check how the coolest person around does it, and do the same!!

Its obvious you get a special treatment from Fotolia.  Id do the same If I had an agency.  Its just a waste of time and money, reviewing 99,999% perfect photos.   Anyone who sells images every 10th second get the same deal;)

One thing that bothers me though is that I can never find the information I want to find...

"Dashboard", "Workspace", "Member page" and new menus popping up all the time - "The Skinny" ? "The Fat" ? "Ideas Home" ? "Manage Trash" ? What trash ? "Portfolios" ? Not my portfolio obviously. It seems you really need to sit down for a while and teach yourself to navigate through the labyrinth

What happened to the good old "Earnings", "Upload" and "Request payment" ?

:)  +1

Its a mess...

Its well isolated I think, but not sharp enough.

Erlier I worked as a roofer in my own small company.  Microstock woke up my interest for photography, and got me to start with 3d.  And now after 2-3 years Im a wellpaid 3d artist on a big company.    Thanks for the inspiration:)

Its nothing wrong with asking questions.   We are all different.   He was just giving you a tip in a rough way. Happens all the time on forums.

Search for "3ds max tutorials" for example, and you will have things to do for years. Other software has less tutorials and some nothing at all.
Unfortunately 3ds max is most expensive :-\  But there are a free trialversion

This place would be pretty boring without  questions...

Who was it here recently that got $2000 for a picture of a sign or something?

That was me:)   I made a customized version of an existing image and sold it for $2000.    Also part of a logo.  There was no need to deactivate the first image.

I applied with photos 3 years ago, and submit 90% 3d now.   But ask them, first so you dont blow the chance again:)

Id say Maya or 3ds max.   You need to be able to 1. make the model  2.  rigg it ( for movement )  3. animate it     Not as easy as it looks.    well, if you make only one image its easy, but youd want to be able to use it in different scenes and in different positions.

Its possible to submit photos also. Even if youre planning to make 3d.      Its not like illustrations.  Photos and 3d are in the same queue.    And some reviewers really hate it, unfortunately...

Simple clean stuff, no jagged edges.  High res materials / maps is important.     The rest is up to u...

Hi Magnum,

i don't really understand your question in detail. Please drop me a few more lines.

How much is a camera like that? -> What does a RED One cost? -> About 25.000$
http://www.red.com/store/red-one/product/red-one-s35-mysterium-x

What computer hardware is preferred? -> For what to do exactly - using r3d files? ->
You can use a Windows PC or a Mac. We prefer Mac, because the files are easier to handle.
But i also work wirh r3d files on a PC AMD Quadcore with Windows 7 64bits, 8GB Ram. You dont need a high end machine. If you encode the 4K files into another format (e.g. FotoJPG) as proxy, you can work on a dualcore system and for the final rendering just turn proxies off.

What software is needed?
-> To work with r3d files? -> http://www.red.com/support
You can download the free software REDCINE-X for Windows and Mac to convert your r3d file in every codec you have installed on your system.
To work with 10bits depth we encode it to Apple ProResHQ422. Adobe After Effects CS5 for example supports r3d natively.

If you need more informations, keep me posted.

You did understand correct.     I thought this was a RED only agency...

Thanks for the info.

Has anybody else come accross some weird reviewing, type what we had during summer? funny I just had a reviewer telling me same old crummy stuff about 2 machine-part shots, yet theyve already sold 28 times in less then a week.

He said "no on camera flash"  when it was studio-flash, some 10000 joules power. Oh well. talk about part-time reviewing.

Its beginning to show, IS, does not want independants to supply and especially not bona-fide commercial sellers.

Show the pictures, 1000W without lightboxes = harsh camera flash light

Nah!  much more power then that! If theres one thing I know its studio photography, been doing it since 1980, I cant even be bothered to be honest, thats the kind of state Ive reached when it comes to incompetant reviewing. Fed up with it.

So show us the picture.   If you know studio photography so well,  whats the big deal ?

Why? are you qualified then?  here you go.

No Im not qualified in titanium gear studio shots. I just wanted to see what you were whining about.   It looks good.  Maybe the reviewer reads this forum...
