General Stock Discussion / $365 sale on Alamy
« on: November 19, 2012, 18:23 »
I waited until the money cleared and I was paid... So it's not a mistake. I sold image BDDJ0P on Alamy for $365! Is this what people used to get for an image sale?? I could get used to that. That's 1000 times what I get on Shutterstock!

Why is everyone so happy about this??

Soon it'll be being run by suits squeezing every dime out of each and every one of us. SS has been great until now, I fear this 'lovely heartfelt letter' from Jon is merely a harbinger of changes afoot.

I bloody love Alan Watts, he's quite an inspiration.

The rumours are they're updating the Mac Pro line in the very near future. Top spec pro machine in an Mac Air case. The new Intel chips ship in April, Apple are typically first in line. I'll be upgrading for sure :) went Mac in 2007 and never looked back.

Alamy.com / Zooms on Alamy
« on: February 22, 2012, 04:49 »
I've often wondered about the accuracy of Alamy's statistics in 'Alamy Measures'. I used to see quite reliably (at lesast I thought it was reliably) the number of zooms on my images, but recently I often see more sales than zooms. Can this be right?

Hopefully the attachment shows you what I'm talking about.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Online Backup
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:05 »
I did a TON of research into this, I eventually found these guys: http://www.livedrive.com/?tid=B88WKKYP

*Disclaimer* I get three months free service if you choose to sign up with them from that link :)

I got 5TB online storage and free real-time HDD backup for 131 if I remember correctly. Way cheaper than owning a similar amount of hard-drives... and without any maintenance. The only trouble with cloud backup like this is having the bandwidth available to upload that volume of data.

I managed to get a Slick 614CF Carbon Fiber tripod on ebay, WITH a Giotto MH1001 head for 70. Highly recommended. The tripod itself weighs just 860g

Nicely done :)

It's a really silly ruling. I think I might pop into London, do something similar and add it to my portfolio!

That's pretty incredible.........
