Newbie Discussion / Does Aboutpixel.de work for you?
« on: November 19, 2017, 16:48 »
Hi, folks couple doubts:
1. Do you get to access the link: http://aboutpixel.de from your place? It isn't working here and I wonder if it is just from here?
2. Are you an AboutPixel contributor, if so how is it going?

Thanks.

Hi folks.

Does any one here uses the SD Toshiba Flashair (Wifi SD)? I wonder by using a camera with this wifi card, how to get to download to computer multiple files, or one right away I shot, to my computer to a folder I wish? By using the browser, it is a pain, you need to click one by one!

Does anybody uses another solution that would share? Thanks.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Are u happy with Photocase?
« on: October 24, 2015, 15:04 »
I'm OK with Photocase, I have regular sales, but to got the regular sales are needed at least a couple of hundred images online.
How about selling images at Creativa Market?

I removed my work from micros last year finally (slow process started in 2013 and even late 2012), some useless files left on SS.
Now I upload only to macro agencies, self pricing agencies, my own website (direct sales) and POD sites and I set up my pricing up to $300. Do I regret? Have no reason as I doubled my income in the first 6 months after the change! I sell less, but I'm more happy with results...

As Paulie said, micro was good to learn the base elements.

What are these macro agencies in the marketing now a days that ar the top tiers which worths to upload and put self pricing?

General Stock Discussion / Microstock Affiliation programm
« on: May 21, 2015, 06:37 »
Hi folks, I wonder if somebody is making some dime with affiliation programs (AP) from any Microstock Agency?
IMHO I just drive traffic to them with my banners and links and receive nothing in exchange. Do you feel the same way?

Is some AP working for you or bringing money for you? If so, what are the agencies that AP really works?

Have a nice day.

If you had waited only a few more days, then it would have been an even 5 years between posts.  ;D
Kkkkk. Didn't noticed that. kkkk. And it had shown older than 120days message and I thought, how can it be if it is April. kkkk. My fault! I'm sorry about that.

...Seems like I've been complaining of dropping sales for 5 years - ha!
Well, it isn't only you. Actually my MBYE was on 2010 at iStock. After 2010, the sales just went downstairs.

Quote
To put things in perspective, my April 2015 earnings at iStock (not including the yet-to-be-reported Getty & sub sales) was 25% below my April 2010 earnings from all sites.  :'(  My portfolio size (which I pretty much stopped adding to during 2013, once it was clear new files were not being seen) is about 5x as big as it was then.
Thanks for sharing the info. Even after 5 years. kkkk. Have a nice Sunday.

Those percentages dont amount to much information when you compare 5200 files on dreamstime and shutterstock to 100000 files on iStock.

I think we will never have a perfect data infomation comparing agencies due several different factors. For example at iStock where I have 7760 files online, 2707 never had a single download as you can check this lightbox.. ;0)

Print on Demand Forum / POD monthly average income
« on: May 02, 2015, 04:07 »
Hi folks, I'm wondering what is your monthly average income at POD sites such as:

Zazzle
RedBubble
Twenty20
Fine Art America
Society6
Crated
Displate
or any other from this 250 places list.

So, what is your POD site/average income. I'm wondering if it worths the effort and time consuming. I will appreciate your honesty. ;0)

After next few months I'm surprised to see even few sales daily here on RB (even with my mark-up up to 200%). Today got almost $40 net, yay! I've had over 100 files for few months since joined and last days I uploaded (yeah, no IPTC is a real pain, but I have my system to fast copy/paste) hundreds of new stuff... Effect? That was really good time investment! :)
In comparison to FAA, still there's nothing to compare as stuck with zero sales with FAA.

Hi Ariene, these 40 bucks you said "Today got almost $40 net", are that you made a day, or "Today" you withdrew $40 as a monthly income or year income at RB?

Thanks for sharing, but I wonder how did you get that SS is 26%? I mean 26% of what?
26% of total income, presumably.
That's how these stats are usually reported.
Yes.  Thanks Sue.  I would have thought that was obvious. ???
Ops, thanks for the explanation and I'm sorry. It wasn't obvious for me once I'm used to the method of "top income agency" as posted on the OP (Edited and added now the obvious method). :0)

By using the "Obvious" method :0), here is my data.

Data based on MAR/15
Agency (#files) - Percentage:
iStock (7763) - 45% (IS+PP+EL+Ss).
Shutter (5287) - 33%
Fotolia (5565) - 7%
Depositphotos (6575) - 4%
Photodune (6377) - 3%
Dreamstime (5182) - 3%
123RF (6731) - 3%
BigStock (5234) - 2%

How strange. You'd think you'd like to know whether it's worth the effort.
And it's really, really easy to do. Just sort your portfolio by age, 200 images per page, and see how many of your most recent files have sold.
Most people who report are finding that over the last few years, in many cases the cut off date was September 2012, uploads have hardly been selling, across a wide range of genres and experience, even among the highest sellers.

I'm sorry for the silly doubt, but I wonder how do you get to sort by age and 200 images per page at Shutter and also get to see the sells, downloads or any other infor in the portfolio view.

I have no idea about SS, but my original question was specifically about iStock, as that's the one where most people report new files getting few/no sales, yet you report it's your best-earning agency/distributor.

Hi good morning. I see, I had read it wrong as SS instead of "iS", I'm sorry about that. My fault. Well, talking about IS, this kind of checking how the new uploads sells doesn't work so well once they do those secret adjustments once a week that reflects on the search results. Anyway, answering you doubt, I did in another way. In the details page, sorted by latest downloads (Lasd DL) which shows 20 per page, then checked their uploaded date. The more recent uploaded data that was downloaded was 2011, the rest are from 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. So, none from less than 2004, none from 2009 or higher than 2011. So, maybe their adjustments this week has some old years settings. :0)

By using your method, filtered 200 per page as "New", I had 10 images of 200 with 1 download each. By checking the details the download was on Feb/2015.

Maybe this script from Theasis can be interesting for you just in case you don't know yet.

Have a nice weekend

Ah, but what if he had a lot of Getty sales of these Vetta files? Some Getty sales are good value, even though sales are for peanuts. Still, he'll be making up the Getty Peanuts from the PP, maybe.
My iStock portfolio files never got into Getty or had Vetta files or better collections. Just regular files at iStock (PP+EL). ;0)

Your portfolio is about 5x the size of mine, so there's a very good chance that it would act differently from mine.

But to answer your question, Feb '13 happened to be the third-best month of that year for me.  Removing GI sales from the comparison, April 2015 was down 60% as compared with my Feb '13. As a more accurate comparison, compared with the "average" month in 2013, April 2015 was down 55%.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I appreciated that. Taking that value as a reference I would say that today I'm making the same income as non-exclusive when I was exclusive. I know it is not a real way to compare, but just a way to fool myself. :0)

Well, I am not a whiz with numbers, so I just post my actual percentages.  If you want to put them in some other format, go for it.

SS 26%
IS + PP(march) 25%
FT 14%
DT 9%
123 8%
DP 6%
Big 4%
PDune 3%
Can 2%
P5 1%

I submit to a few others but they were only 0%, so not worth uploading to.  Maybe on the chopping block soon.  Except for Alamy which I will make great money one month and practically nothing the next.
Thanks for sharing, but I wonder how did you get that SS is 26%? I mean 26% of what? Who is your 100% income agency that you got these percentual as reference to compare the others? What is the agency you made more money? ;0) Anyway, thanks for sharing your numbers we can see how are the differences between agencies income. Have a nice weekend.

In honor of my worst month ever as an exclusive iStock contributor, and my worst month as a contributor since 2008 (when I had a few dozen images in my port), I thought I'd start this month's earnings thread.  ::)

My April earnings were down 34% from last year's April earnings (exclusive of subs and GI), and down 35% from March earnings.

To give an idea of how far I've fallen, April earnings were almost exactly one third of my BME (which was only in Sep 2013) ... and over 40% off my average earnings from just last year (which itself was my worst year as an exclusive).
I'm sorry to hear that. Just as curiosity, I have left exclusivity on 2012. I wonder once you are there since 2008, how much your April earning are down from your latest Feb/13?

I have just posted in another thread that:
Yes, in my case, the exclusive income started to drop like a crazy starting on Mar/11 (35%+). I quit the exclusivity on 04/12. Since then I didn't get to make even the income as non-exclusive based on the latest income as exclusive, but the times were other and the income was better in that time for exclusives. The things has changed a lot since then and as you said, the market is really oversaturated now. So in sum, after 3 years as non-exclusive, summing up all agencies income/month, the actual income as non-exclusive, represents 52% of the income I was receiving as exclusive at iStock in 2012 average month. By reading that you assume that non-exclusive doesn't worth, but it is hard to say, once I have my doubts if I was exclusive today it would be the same average income as I was receiving on 2012.

...when you start to take self portraits to don't have to pay models or ask friends and family members for signing MRs.  :0)

The both posts of the "huge hairy spider" were the best until now. I laughed a lot with them:

- you find a huge hairy spider in your bathroom and your first thought is: "Hm, if I move it to the white part of the wall, I will get a better shot!"
- You know you are a Microstocker when the huge hairy spider in your bathroom earn more money that you...

Congratulations!

That's interesting Lucato. I am still too young to post such numbers as it has been only 1 month that I am independent.
Welcome to the hard independence word. :0)

Quote
But on this first month Shutterstock and Fotolia take the lead by far. I don't upload to Dreamstime yet as I want to have my options open in case I don't see that independence is working for me.  The 6 month lock and deactivation of files one by one make stay away for the moment. With Deposit I didn't like at all the 3% matter so I will wait with this agency too and see in the next months what people say about it.
Yes, Shutter is a good income place. Where did you have to deactivate exclusivity file by file? Was it at iStock? That is crazy. When I left exclusivity was 90 days advice and the whole portfolio was non-exclusive.

Quote
Bigstock is selling ok but the revenue is very low as there are very few credit sales and the subscription rate is very low, 123 RF is ok, Envato is Ok, Canstock only have few images up as the review seems stucked at the moment, Pond 5 I like their upload system and prices a lot but no sales so far. Veer the upload limits and keyword striping makes this the weakes option at the moment.
Thanks for sharing the report. ;0)

Quote
The first month at Shutter I have sold over 1000 files and have arrived to the 0.33 $/download although the numbers don't seem proportional by portfolio growth so I am worried about it. Fotolia has started more gradually but the growth in earning is equivalent to port growth.
Maybe you should keep uploading in little lots and not all at once. So, IMHO the keep uploading is a good thing. Well, my 2c.

Quote
And Istock....well I remember when I got exclusive my earnings jumped 8x (I could not believe it at the beggining). Making now the opposite way on the first month my earnings have fallen about 60%. I hope that in 6 month the picture will get clearer and I will take a decision if I stay independent in micro, go back to exclusivity or just dump the whole micro adventure all together. The last year I haven't produced anything for micro and have concentrated on macro RM although revenues are low too. The market is really oversaturated now......

I would be willing to participate, but like Teddy, I don't get your maths.  Later when I do my April stats I will post my % if anybody cares.
