Exactly my thoughts.

Let's get some facts straight:

That tax thingie isn't a new thing, it's just SS avoided to pay their taxes to the state, and now is forced to do so. True?

If true, this is simply highly unprofessional and unfair behavior. We all signed our contracts with SS under exact terms of acceptance, and if they are in problems regarding their constant breaking of federal law in the past, it's just their problem, and they should recalculate that loss of money into company's profit, and compensate it so no contributor gets any significant decrease in earnings.

They have cheated, not us, and they should suffer, not us.

Yes, of course, this is a business, you can take it or leave it. But I hardly see a reason to have any understanding for them.

Ok, I'm from Serbia, should I expect the same email to be received? Or they act randomly on this issue.

Just curious to see how they'll implement best match 2.0 the way it should be. Let's say the biggest problem are keyword spammers. How's that going to be solved? Reducing old bones' kw spam in amounts of 80%? This is not going to happen.

Just to mention, I'm a IS newbie, dropped in a month ago, doing vectors only. My files contain only 7-10 kws, 100% relevant. Performing a best match search, it is hard to find them among the first 400-500 matches. I have no clue how's that going to change noticeably.

Noticed a certain increase in J/P sub sales this month, but nothing spectacular. 13% vs 87%

edit: oops

General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Artist wannabes!
« on: January 19, 2009, 15:23 »
Well, maybe we can agree that the quality of photos that sell differs a lot from the quality of vectors that sell. At least at IS, where acceptance of photos depends mostly on a technical quality, no matter if you're uploading whole bunches of business people and whatsoever isolated on white (that get accepted, of course, and sell very well).

Btw, when talking about vector stock, are we talking in terms of art, or illustrations aimed to sell well, therefore strictly within the boundaries of so called "suitable for stock" variations?

How that thing works? The only information I have found is for customers/byers.

Mine too.

Are you saying that a Mac zealot started this thread to convince us?

13
You're right. Me too uses powerful and $0 NeoOffice on OS X.

14
Guess what - I hated it!  In spite of dual quad core processors and 4 GB of ram it was slower than my old PC!

Sorry, but I can't believe this. It turns out that I can afford a new Porche, state that it is much slower than my old Daewoo from 2001, and expect everybody would believe this.

Let's stay within usual comparisons, pros and cons, please.

Macs don't play well for web developers because of the need to test sites in various browsers. So if you plan any semi serious web work, stick with PC.

? You have the same whole variety of web browsers on both platforms. Not to mention you can run both systems regularly on Intel Mac.

16
The only benefit you'll get from this discussion is to face yet another OS war, so well known on the various forums around. So, my advice to you is to visit a mate who has a Mac, check it for yourself and make a decision. Simple as that.

Mac. No viruses, no threats, no registry cleaning, no overall system cleaning, no HDD defragmentation, no chance for the configuration to become obsolete in 3 yrs, no custom assembled chinese desktops.

Of course, it's up to you to choose what suits your needs.

Edited some keywords on a freshly uploaded stuff (just to match the images better), and they are up in the best match ranking. It seems something's really happening.

Dreamstime.com / Vector sales on DT
« on: December 31, 2008, 17:26 »
Plain and simple - I'd like to hear from you vector artists about your experiences on selling vector content on Dreamstime.

I have small portfolio of about 120 ilustrations, and sales are here and there. There is a period when I sell almost on everyday basis, and then nothing for weeks. Bottom line - started uploading in August, the first payment is yet to come ($85 so far).

Thanks in advance.

General - Top Sites / Re: Fastest review times among the "Big 6"
« on: December 28, 2008, 09:18 »
In some cases, I got reviews on StockXpert literally in seconds. Upload, refresh page and images are approved. Talking about vectors.

21
I have one big problem regarding DT policy towards contributors - it's that 6 months you have to wait in order to close your account. Few months ago, I decided to disable the allowed amount of my images there (think it's 30% within the 6 months I have mentioned). Disabled a few, and then this

This image has been rightfully reported as having bad keywords and an editor approved the needed corrections. At this time you can add more keywords only through the key-mentoring system.

shows up beside every single image in my portfolio. So, all of my keywords were ok till the moment I decided to disable them. Well, gimme break, the fair agency.

This thread is slowly turning into the one we already have, named "which is your best agency".

And, in addition, it is hard to keep consistent quality when you're forced to upload min twice a week in order to keep your sales on a certain level. Personally I don't like such kind of policy.

Dec = another BME.

Looking at he first 12 days' earnings, December is going to be BME of the BMEs for me.

Again, I'm all in vectors. Maybe that fact makes things slightly different. Xmas/NY items sells are outstanding.
