General Stock Discussion / Re: February 2015 sales
« on: March 10, 2015, 00:40 »
Seem to be a bug with image subscriptions for me,when i add all individual sales in image subscriptions section( tools contributor)this do not match the amount added in monthly statistic or my daily balance $94 is missing. This seem to be getting worse for February images subscriptions(almost $200) even if the monthly payout is not over yet not adding money properly,so faris this a bug.Anyone else have the same bug.

I noticed a worrying glitch,a sale of $7.80 not added up to the total amount, that happened 4 hours ago still not added, but the next 3 sales of $1 from 3 differents files were added. So if you do not follow every sale wich is almost impossible to follow, hard  to known this is happening.Glich or something else...

General Stock Discussion / Re: Istock extended license issue

But again, there is such a small number of us that want to do the right thing and leave.

Fair enough, but following this forum for a couple of years doesn't make me think that moving elsewhere would be morally any better. There are regular complaints about the other micros, though the current iStock shenanigans trump everything that's gone before.
A lot of the agencies which start up promising a fairer deal for the photographer either don't deliver with sales (60% of nothing is more than 10% of something) or fold very quickly.
Aren't bulk discounts the norm in business?  Even before the revelation of these 70c/credit sales on iStock, deep bulk discounts were in force.
Rightly or wrongly, that's how business works. Seems the other micros work the same way.

I've been using a Logitech Trackman Wheel for over a decade (wired). I have them on all my PC's. Your hand is resting on the desk and you mainly move your thumb and fingers so no issues with RSI, etc. They take a tiny bit of getting used to but I wouldn't use anything else.

Read the reviews;

iStockPhoto.com / Re: A Fable for those considering exclusivity
« on: September 21, 2010, 15:52 »
I think "never put all your eggs in one basket" sums it up more succinctly for me.  I would never feel comfortable only being able to sell RF with one site, as they have too much power and then they get greedy.

I feel the same way!   As a contributor it makes better business sense for me to not go exclusive because there isn't one company I see me being able to earn more than what I do earn from multiple sites.  I'm following the same principles of investing in real stock by diversification.  These Microstock agencies futures are still too uncertain for me to just settle with one!

As an assignment photographer for the past 25 years i never sign up with stock agencies before 2007,because before microstock some RM  agencies were asking for a production of 5000 images accepted a year, that was not suitable with my business. In live and in business there are no warranty, the only warranty you have is that things will always change,so you always have to adjust,be more creative and working harder.Yes you have to diversify, but do it at something you are good at it.I am not sure about contributing to all those agencies, they supply the same images and only compete on prices...Exclusive with iStock for the last 18 months has been great for me better than to be with all those agencies, this year my assignment revenue has gone down, and my stock revenue gone up quite a bit.Not the same business than 25 years ago when i started.

The 20% part is on par with the other sites, but the fact that the referral commissions keep coming forever is a huge bonus.
"Forever" sounds very long, considering they won't most probably be around "forever". Smells like despair.

How many of the top one hundred contributor participate in forums anyway,in this matther i do not think %10 have participate, like Lise Gagn,Hidesy,Yuri Acurs,jhorrocks,ducan1890,Andresr,webphotographer,jgroup,enjoynz,etc,correct me if i am wrong those top earners makes the majority of sales with IStock....

Hi maco0708,

What is your StockXpert username? You can PM it to me. I'll see what I can do about expiditing the removal of your images from photos.com and JIU, but it usually takes a few weeks for this to happen.

Thanks,
Steve
This is well written on the StockXpert web site that it could takes up to 60 days to remove all the files from their reseller sites the day you claim your files. That's why in my case i deleted all my files from the site in early November.

Sylvie,
Where does it say that? I briefly looked around but I could not find it. I am surprised that this wasn't mentioned in the "preparing for exclusivity thread". I wonder how many people actually knew about this. I wish I did. Oh well, I guess I will wait and try to bug them in my free time.
I don't have an account there anymore(3month ago),but it is somwhere in the affilate program...but i am not sure...Thre are some other reseller of StockXpert you should check they maybe have some of your images left, i think you will find this in the affiliate program, like clipartconnection.com,animationfactory.com jupiterimages.com  comstockcomplete.com and of course photos.com

just curious ...
were you always this mad at FT and StockXpert?
or is it only now that you're going exclusive with IS that you're so pissed off?
did you make any sales with FT and StockXpert?
if so, were you this mad at them then?   ::)

I never particularly liked fotolia because they rejected more of my images than any other site. I was pretty happy with StockXpert. I had decent sales at both places but lately a lot of my sales were subscription sales. I personally think that 30 cents for a large photo is not enough nowadays. That's why (and other reasons) I am going exclusive with IS.

I deleted my pictures and I wasn't warned anywhere that my images can be still showing up at other sites. My exclusivity application was denied because of this. Result is:
1.) I have to take care of it.
2.) I am losing the exclusivity bonus for sales that happened these days.
I think I have the right to be little aggravated.

The main reason why I posted this was not to bash the agencies. I wanted to figure out how to take care of it (party done) and find other potential sites that also did not delete my images (also done). Also, I think this thread will be beneficial for other people who want to go exclusive (with whatever site).
Could not agree more on 30 cents for a large photo is not enough....

Were you also opted into subs at StockXpert? I am still getting sales from Photos.com & Jupiter with some files I deleted months ago.

This is why I LOVE this forum. It is truly an indispensable resource.

SURE ENOUGH, I found some of my files for sale at photos.com. I contacted both photos.com and stockxpert.com.

If anybody knows of any other sites please let me know.
Have you called IStock support,so im my case i did and the person that i spoke to is willing to reset my application...because if you go on your account check your account status thre is a waiting period of 90 days to re-apply..is it your case!Wich is not mentionned in the email application rejection.

I would suggest trying to contact pixmac to get them to remove your portfolio from their end.

That is a good idea Leaf. I just contacted the support at Pixmac. Thank you.

Anybody else had a similar problem when trying to go exclusive at iStock? I just want to make sure that I don't get rejected again.

Also will you have to wait 90 days to re-apply,in case of rejection that is the rule,or if Istock will be cool about this..

So I am trying to become exclusive at iStock so I deleted all of my images from all sites I SINGED IN with.

I clicked the exclusivity button and I just got rejected because I have some live files at PixMac:
http://www.pixmac.com/picture/autumn-lake/000004291716

I always despised the affiliate sites of fotolia since I never knew how many there are,...

But this is REALLY annoying!

Thank got iStock was pretty cool about it and they just told me to take care of it and then let them know.

ANY OTHER SURPRISES FROM OTHER SITES THAT I SHOULD KNOW OF?

Thanks a lot guys. If it weren't of this forum I wouldn't even know that it was fotolia.

Same story here with pixmac,i contact them and they removed the thumbnails see a part of the email i got from them..If your files were deleted from fotolia they weren't available for sale see below....

Hi Yvan,
your portfolio has been deleted. The change will be visible tomorrow after
indexing.

Just for your information - your pictures can´t be downloaded anyway, as by
pictures comming from Fotolia we do not have any hires. By each download we
have to send a request to Fotolia and if the pictures were deleted on
Fotolia, it is not possible to download them from our site :)

congrats

for your payment

as soon as i get there i will delete my portfolio :-)

I received a quick payment within 24 hours, but they aren't so fast to delete your folio on request, i asked them to delete my folio last week, they are still selling my images,i understand their strategy more they wait more money they make without having to pay me...i took me 6 month to reach the first payment, they do not allowed contributer to delete any files,no way to to this with Crestock.

Contact helpdesk, there was a problem with the helpdesk mail server last week and some mails may have got lost in the downtime.

This is not a strategy to make money. Ask most people, we deal with every request as quickly possible.

I just  sended another email this morning to the helpdesk...my account is yvano...will see.
