Off Topic / Re: What is your dream car?
« on: January 04, 2020, 13:45 »
Any motorized covered vehicle that will never leave me stranded on the side of the road...ever. That is my dream car. Don't care what it looks like, color, cosmetics, whether it has a radio, gps, cameras, etc. Just an all-the-time 24/7/365 100% reliable car. Hey, the topic is a "dream" car, so I'll dream.

Love the reply they gave Thomas From France: "It's nothing to worry about and shouldn't happen too often." OK. I feel better now.

They're having technical problems today.

Shutterstock.com / Shutterstock helping China censorship (??)
« on: November 07, 2019, 18:45 »
Couldn't find if anyone commented on this already.
It appears SS have been kowtowing to Chinese government requests to censor anything that is uncomfortable to the ruling paty. A sale is a sale, I guess...

Happened to me on Bigstock a little while before they changed their payout method to  end-of-month. I got an email notifying me my email had been changed when I had not done that. So I signed in to my account (directly, not through the email) and changed my password right away. But it appeared the hacker had full access to my account thru the BS site directly because after I changed my p/word from a totally different physical location (different machine, ip, etc), then changed my mail back to the original, he/she changed it back to their russian one within a few minutes. I was in contact with BS for a while, and they finally fixed it, locked him out, etc. I've heard of A LOT of BS account compromises, so obviously there's a weakness in their security. Has not happened to me on any other micro in 12 years of being there (yet....)

I only got 6 refunds, so I should feel better than you, right?

And how is it that on shutterstock I never got a single refund in 12 years with mostly the same images?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Worst month on shutterstock
« on: July 22, 2019, 12:30 »
Jun was my worst month since May 2007.

So far July is even worse than that.

....
There's one problem: they represent around 25% of my revenue. So, like many people around here, I'm dependent on them, as I have some financial goals with microstock. The situation is deeply frustrating, but, well, I do stock for money, so I don't have a lot of options, even though I know that this attitude may make me lose on long term...

Many others are in this quandary. It's much like the abused wife who cannot leave her husband, for whatever reasons. It's a hard situation, and it's easy enough to advise the wife "leave him." Easy enough to say if you are not the abused one.

For some reason I really want to photograph my mural with a Mercedes car in front of it, just in order to promote my street-artwork.

This IS actually good news! For the CEO. Now he doesn't have to take a pay cut! I'm so happy for him!

Hope it will return soon. Based on my sales statistics, I am losing almost $0.002 per day.

Got paid today, at least. Istuck doesn't irritate me so much now.  ;D

Still seeing no stats on ESP.

Glad to see someone else thinks their numbers are late. I thought I got zero for the month. Wouldn't surprise me these days...

lucky oliver

If I remember correctly they had levels that included Carnie , fire eater and sword swallower.

luckyoliver....yeah...they were very interesting and a lot of fun....
In their short life I actually got 3 or 4 payouts from them before they turned out the lights and closed the doors. They showed more potential than any micro that started the same time they did. And of course there are others who've stayed around all this time but are still zilch earners just like when they started, if not worse. What a weird industry!

I wonder how featurepics is still alive after all these years. Amazing.

Couldn't sign on to BS today, but it's working again.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Bad july.. How was yours?
« on: July 31, 2018, 11:26 »
SS - worst month since Sep 2007.

DT - OK at beginning of month, but totally flat by mid-month, so below average.

Others - lower than average.

Headed for my lowest month since Sept 2007!!  >:(

At least I'll get paid, but back then this wouldn't even have qualified for a payout! They graciously lowered min payout a while back---anticipating this, I'm sure, so that at least their precious contributors could get paid at all.

Thanks for the guidance, kaboom.
As usual, they keep full support for buyers, minimal support for contrib's, especially financial.

They make great points about lawyers. The lawyers will take most of your settlement and you may get something to make you feel a little betterr.. The video title says "We made a copyright thief PAY!" but both the thief and the plaintiffs ended up paying---their lawyers!

Thanks for posting this.

Microstock Services / Payza indicted and shutdown in U.S.
« on: March 24, 2018, 00:34 »
Probly not a big deal to anyone here, but for what it's worth, payment processor Payza dot com was seized and closed and the owners arrested for running their currency transmitting business without a proper license.

I looked at the site's WHOIS entry and see that all registrant information is hidden through a proxy service.

Code: [Select]
REGISTRANT CONTACT
Name:PROXY PROTECTION LLC

Also, there is no imprint on the site as far as I can see.

This is a BIG red flag.

Sending your valuable content to an anonymous party would be a completely silly thing to do.

Good luck.

Lots of reasons to leave this one at the end of a 20-foot-pole, big time. Maui's point is one of the best ones.

Another good reason is "We had no idea if it would take days or months to build a catalog of sufficient size prior to launch...."  Oy vay!!

(Not trying to be nasty here, but business is business. Joining istuck would be preferable to this.)

OP, you make me feel like I'm watching a movie where a beautiful young woman is pounding violently on the door of a serial rapist's house and screaming demanding to be let in.
Just walk away, Renee.
