I have used in that order when hiking
E420 + kit lens
EP2 + kit lens,
EP2 +12mm+20mm+45mm
EM5 ( either with 14-45 +25mm when multi days hiking, or i add 12mm+45mm+75mm if day hikes )

At full size i have seen an improvement from E420 to EP2 to EM5 and from kit zoom to some primes,
But even the E420 quality is accepted from Shutter / IStock / Dreamstime etc... most of the time.
With the EM5 when its not accepted its never from the camera limits

i tried a few shots with LX3 and had some accepted on the 3 above, but it way harder.

That's logical. If you had a photo of an island, would you put 'sail' or 'sailing' in the photo (without a boat in the pic) even though you had to go in a boat to get there, or evenif it was a famous sailing venue?

point taken :)

keywording atm photos i have taken during the 2012 TGO challenge in Scotland ( 2 weeks coast to coast hike )  i resisted adding any hiking keyword !

Your file "Oqaatsut fisher village, Greenland" has been accepted into the main iStockphoto Collection. [.... ]

Addtional Approval Note:
The following keywords used for this file do not appear to be fully relevant to the subject.

{[oqaatsut]}

i am slowly learning what i can use or not with istockphoto

for example hike, hiking etc.. are not allowed if the landscape needs you to hike to photography it, but they are no hikers on the photo, event if its a famous hike, like the Laugavegur in Iceland, Torres del Paine circuit in Chile, Arctic circle trail in Greenland etc..

but this one was strange, Oqaatsut is the name of the village, its in the title, but not accepted as a keyword

is that the general rule or was it a mistake ?

when writing the question i was afraid not being clear .

ill try to do better with an example

my camera gives a file that is named P7975463.jpg
for other microstocks i keep the file name, but in the exif i put a title and a description + keywords, and when i upload the file i just check the are taken correctly into account.

from reading istock submission guide i was afraid they asked to rename the  "P7975463.jpg" as well in something like "enclosed balcony.jpg"

I just got admited on istock.
I tried 6 months ago, just a few days after reading about microstocks on a forum, and sent 3 landscape -> immediate rejection.
Last week i decided to try again, and i had the nice surprise to be successful, with :

a balcony, from a recent trip to Barcelona :

a landscape from an autumn hike in Patagonia ( i thought that as Fotolia accepted it he must have a chance with IS)

and for some variety, the cutest / best technically photo i could find of my son...

now the stupid question, but my english is far from fluent :

do you really need to rename all your file with IS, or do they just mean that you should put a real name + description in the exif of your photos like any other microstock ?

Just got all my pending files reviewed.

It wasnt harsher than usual.
