Veer / Re: Veer Marketplace Opens for Submissions!
« on: June 10, 2009, 00:20 »
I uploaded 10 yesterday for review and had all of them rejected for not suitable for stock lack of commercial appeal. I totally disagree with their reason. They have images on the site that are far less appealing and the same type. :-\

Same here... Not suitable for stock lack of commercial appeal

I even made sure I sent them a variety and my sellers from other sites... go figure.

I guess this is one pot I need to keep my fingers out of then... Right now I upload to 13 sites and that takes me forever... :-\

I've been having problems with a couple of the ftps as well... I think Fotolia was one of them. I will pay more attention next time I upload.

Off Topic / Where to FreeLance?
« on: June 01, 2009, 10:51 »
??? The economy is hurting the public school system along with my job of technology specialist... Basically I am out of luck and have to find a new job making a full time income...

I was thinking of going freelance and I need advice on where to look. I have found guru.com and oDesk.com... Is there anyone with experience on these sites and does anyone have any other sites to suggest?

I like these and the majority could be created in illustrator. Have you used autotrace
in illustrator?

[/quote]

I haven't used autotrace with illustrator... I have been dinking around with inkscape a bit... I do have some cowboy illustrations that I just finished that I was thinking I might be able to save each color layer and then combine them in inkscape and then convert them into a vector... I know that there is a way to convert them, I'm just unsure how right at the moment. I am open to any suggestions and brainstorming anyone wants to throw my way...   ::)

:-[ I just got emailed back and they are looking for vector artists. I don't feel up-to-par with my vector skills, so I mostly do raster.

Guess I'll just have to work on it over the summer and then try again.

Did you show them samples?

Yeah... I pointed her to my shutterstock account where one of my largest portfolios resides...

Dreamstime.com / Accidental Approval??
« on: May 29, 2009, 09:58 »
Dreamstime fixed my issue with the images not appearing when I hit the edit button in the pending area. Some of these illustrations were pending for over 3 weeks.

I am happy that they approved several of them, but then some of them were declined after they were approved... The reason was "Accidental Approval."

It was almost as if there were 2 or 3 reviewers working on my pending images and what one like the other disliked...

On a good note most of the ones that were declined were for "Not what we are looking for right now." I used to get just technical flaw declines.

I had to try three times and now they have been accepting 90% of my images... They are also the highest seller so far.

StockXpert.com / Re: StockXpert rejections...new trend?
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:34 »
My artist app just got rejected because "not interested in this subject matter." Blew me over because SS just swallowed nearly everything I sent them with a thank you and here is another sale...   8)

« on: May 19, 2009, 09:47 »
I always find the text pictures hard to read. It sometimes takes me 2 or 3 tries to login... Is it a 1 or is it l ... What a pain.

Well that is cool...

My entire portfolio is on there... :D

I'm using PicNiche too... Every time the numbers go up I'm doing a little "Happy happy joy joy" dance...

The only thing that I would like is to be able to program the stock sites that aren't the Big 6...

you know, featurepic, yaymicro... etc. :o

Bigstock.com / Re: How are you doing at BigStock?
« on: May 13, 2009, 09:53 »
I've had a $3.00 usd sale and a $0.50usd sale.

But then I'm still in the "thrilled someone found my images among the millions online" stage...

Featurepics.com / Re: Anyone selling at Featurepics?
« on: May 13, 2009, 09:36 »
I just got my first sale today with a volume dl... For me this is really great since I have a portfolio there of less than 30 and I've only been on for about a week...

Veer / Re: Content not good enough for Veer - confused?
« on: May 11, 2009, 14:42 »
Ok I just got an email from Snapsvillage (Veer Marketplace Team) saying that:

Unfortunately, based on the images you currently have on SnapVillage, we have decided not to transfer your work to Veer Marketplace. It could be that your images just need some polishing, that you chose subjects that aren't a great fit for Veer Marketplace, or that you hadnt submitted very many images.

I just received the same email... I think it might be because I had only just started uploading to Snapvillage and I only had 10 images in my portfolio. Truly not many. Probably would cost more to transfer than to just have me sign up and upload them myself....

iStockPhoto.com / Re: 5 Applications and still no luck!
« on: May 11, 2009, 09:34 »
Dude, You're not only one... Me too have problems with their illustrator application - I got 6 rejects up to day despite they've approved me as video and photo contributor in my first application!

I'm in the same boat... This is the 3rd time that I was rejected for my illustrations. All I get is a "not what we are interested in at this time" message. So I get to wait 14 more days and hit them again. It is discouraging that this is happening, but the good thing is that shutterstock has accepted nearly every illustration that I have produced.

It just lets me know that my stuff isn't all bad. I plan on hitting iStock again and again until they get tired of hearing from me...   ;D

New Sites - General / Re: Fotomina
« on: May 08, 2009, 17:28 »
Sorry to disappoint the skeptics but I'm just a newbie struggling with a tiny portfolio...

I decided to take the plunge and give them a look see...

The first thing that I can report is that their uploading system is annoying. One image at a time as well as having to fill in the title and description before upload. It only reads the metadata for the keywords.

Well I found out today that they will accept non-vector illustrations. That is a plus for me, so I will upload and see how it goes...

Dreamstime.com / Re: Duplicates will be removed
« on: May 08, 2009, 09:31 »
Perhaps this is what happened to my pending files... Though they are not duplicates of anything I have online. On Tuesday, they just vanished. The weren't accepted and they weren't refused (properly). I think that the Dreamstime graph shows them as being refused...

I emailed support, and they are looking into it.

Shutterstock.com / Re: SS initial evaluation
« on: May 07, 2009, 09:25 »
Yipeee!! 9/10 were accepted on my second try... Talk about being on the edge of my seat.

The first time I tried, I uploaded some photos that I thought was cool and SS was the first that I tried. None were accepted. In fact, all of the photos were refused by all the places I tried.

After a week, I smacked myself on the forehead and decided to try what I do best illustration... These are just plain rasters.

I'm happy that I waited instead of giving up. So keep trying.

Microstock Services / Re: Yuri Arcurs Keywording Tool
« on: May 05, 2009, 13:31 »
I think a couple of ads on the page wouldn't hurt. It would help pay for itself and any improvements.

I used picniche keywording tool the other day and threw everything out but 2. I keep more of the keywords when I use Yuri's. It is more accurate.

Ah yet another reason (as though I needed one) not to live in the U.S.!

I think I would go to Canada though it might be too cold for my hubby in the winter...
All depends on where in Canada you are talking about.  The west coast where I live has a similar climate to that of Seattle.

Aaah well that is just up the coast from me... The bright side would be more snowball fights with the kids...

Let us not forget that we have the first president that knows how to broadcast on the internet... He knows the ins and outs and as far as I know, congress still hasn't taken the veto power away from the prez.

;D Just imagine the mass exodus  of internet junkies leaving the US... It would take care of any over population problem... I think I would go to Canada though it might be too cold for my hubby in the winter...

These are so cool... I love the first one... I had to really study it to make sure it wasn't an illustration...

Awesome work.

Illustration - General / Re: Where else sell illustrations?
« on: April 29, 2009, 10:26 »
I can't really say. I sell my fine art pieces in an art gallery close to home... And you can post them for sale at deviantart.com (but I've never had anything sold there)...
