To Lynx

I was the first person who  posted in the madelaide thread about the garbage cans, that said I was uncomfortable about the public "lynching" of this individual. I also visited this persons portfolio of work at iStock, who turns out to be an accomplished Photographer.

Also I'm not exclusive at iStock, but I'm a long time Photographer, that has never encountered these bitter feelings. I'm used to Photographers being a breed of person who are very giving, encouraging and helpful. You are so welcome here, by the majority of us Lurkers.

That is why I spoke up to object about the comments in the thread. I encourage you, Lynx to stick around here, you are not alone and iStock exclusive comments are very welcome by me, so I can here balanced discussions in a free environment.

To madelaide

I understand what you were trying to say, regardless of whether I agree or not, please do not hurt your fellow Photographers. I also believe you will never win this debate, I have decided to play by their rules and when the rules change I bend and change to their requirements, because it is a dynamic marketplace I wish to be  part of, it is very profitable. I can only influence the things in my direct control, such as image quality, image content and image quanitity, this is what I spend most of my energies on.

Once again I believe this to be the season of Goodwill to ALL mankind. Peace

Thanks for the info on Copperhill, I also went on the Eclipse fluid site and they said that Pec Pads are NOT reccomended for sensor cleaning. They say to use Sensor Swabs.
Here is the linkhttp://www.photosol.com/padproduct.htm

Is the general consensus that pec pads are ok ???

Lighting / Re: What Fabrics Make Good Backgrounds?
« on: October 19, 2006, 12:13 »
Hi Rachelle,
I don't use fabric, I prefer paper. I use white & black. I know some photographers use black velvet, or synthetic versions, because it absorbs light without reflections.

Just remember that most camera light meters will try and render all objects to a grey colour, (18% grey). So if you shoot black or white backgrounds without exposure compensation you will end up in both instances with a grey background, perhaps this is what happened to the darker background you used.

It happened to me too yesterday....the biggest single rejection I have ever had at Fotolia, I'm also a silver level with them, so you would think I would know by now what they want.  ???

I've grossed twice as much on SX, but that is more a product of higher payouts. .22 doesn't add up very quickly.

It was 30 cents in September, 28 cents in August & July  :-*

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Worth continuing?
« on: September 08, 2006, 21:53 »
Why not continue, it's another store front that cost's you nothing on an ongoing basis, I have had 2 payouts from them. Ok they are not SS or iS in volume, but then again I don't make a $150 every 3 days at SS.

Canstock has a nice feel about the site, the people are kind & giving, any new RF contributor can learn a lot about the business as a first contact with stock photography, (I did). Canstock accepts a lot of your images and frankly gave me the confidence to try SS &  iS plus all the others, so I won't be pulling the plug on them any time soon.
