Thanks, guys, for taking the time to respond.  I'm not going to explain what you already know to be true -- that it's not always the most talented photographers or the prettiest pictures that make the sale.

Your competition has now grown to include soccer moms with entry-level SLR cameras and starving watercolorists who scrounge up enough money for a decent camera and know nothing more than how to shoot with it on Program mode.

And yes, it's true that we encourage those people to get involved in stock photography.

We believe the market is big enough for all of us.  We also believe in paying it forward.  Most of our instructors either had help getting into photography and so are willing to help others, or they had no help and a long, hard road ahead of them and so are willing to help others avoid their mistakes.

If it's not right for you, though, I understand.  But the proof is in the pudding and the photographers that work with us love what they're doing.

We pay $150-$350 for tips we can feature in our free subscription newsletter.  And the pay-rate for workshops and expeditions varies depending on what you can teach.  We're currently looking for a pet photographer if you know anyone.  Ren Netherland taught for us the year before last and he's the best.  It's been hard to find someone that can teach pet photography (and, of course, how to make money as a pet photographer) as well as he did so now that our standards are so high, we're not settling for just an average pet photographer who's not making a lot of money at it.

Anyway, if you're interested in writing or videoing for us, let me know.  Thanks!

Hi photographers,

The company I work for (AWAI) does photography workshops and creates products to help people learn to take and sell better photos as stock (as well as fine art and editorial).

We occasionally send small groups of people to far corners of the globe along with a professional photo instructor to show them how to take photos they can sell.

You can get an idea of what we do here: http://www.thephotographerslife.com

Right now we're looking for video tips for our e-letter and products.

If you have a tip to share with our hobbyist/beginner photographer readers -- on anything from taking great landscapes to getting natural shots of models to depth of focus to developing stock concepts... pitch the idea to us.

What we're looking for is videos that demonstrate the tips either in person, or presentation-style and run 2-10 minutes long.

If you're interested, introduce yourself and pitch your ideas to me in a a short email: bcaton [at] awaionline.com

Thanks, and good luck!

Bonnie
