This is one of current Adobe Stock best selling portfolio.
https://stock.adobe.com/contributor/286186/Rafa%20Fernandez

It's all AI generated images.  Very nice images.  You don't even need a camera.

I don't want to ridicule disabled people, but once quick glance at the top row in that portfolio: what's with her arm? I've seen horror movie monsters that have less distorted limbs.

;D I don't think any arms work like that.

It's all AI generated images.  Very nice images.  You don't even need a camera.  You can generate so many in hours rather than doing actual photo shoots with models and paid locations.  How can photographers compete with this from now on?  At the same time, AI is a new opportunity.  There are so many videos on YouTube on how to make money from AI generated images.  I got to be prepared what I should do with AI generated videos in future.  This is frightening.

How do you know this is a best selling portfolio? With just 600 images, and it looks like most of those are not AI but are regular photos.

Now, there is at least a chance to convert the people visiting for the free collection into paying customers.

Maybe, but there's a better chance of converting paying customers to the free content.  I mean someone who isn't likely to pay, who is drawn in by high quality free content might buy one or two of something they find missing in that tier.  But the paying customer, I would imagine, is more likely to not buy as many as possible and choose from the free section instead.

I agree. If I was a small or medium sized business with a subscription, I'd switch to the $29.99 smallest subscription plan today, and supplement the rest with free images. The quality is very good right now.   I do think they'll gain some customers through this though, and probably sell more creative cloud subscriptions through it by bringing people in.

I just figured this up the other day for iStock. RPD at 40%:
2008 1.85
2009 2.44
2018 3.59

40% of what for what? You know what they charge? How's your total income on IS since 2008?

My RPD Alamy is $50 only 2 sell a year, the number RPD means nothing.

Volume was much higher before 2012. Competition up, sales down, income down. But I don't feed the parasites or the race to the bottom, might be different for desperate people who put their work anywhere that will take it, probably worse for them. If you feed the bottom agencies you are stealing from your own earnings, forcing prices down.

The OP's question was specifically about RPD.

Realized I should have asked about total sales as well... Curious what the market was like back then.

Everyone has different experiences, so sometimes you'll get different answers all around. I was just a hobbyist in 2004 but went full time in 2009 after passing 5 figures in 2008. RPD for me was far lower before 2008, 48 cents in 2006 for example, but I wasn't exclusive then. RPD peaked in 2013 at over $10, but we had much higher priced collections back then too (TAC and Vetta). Then iStock subscriptions came in in 2014 which caused a big drop in RPD and $, but way up in volume. Downloads came back through subscriptions and money followed after a year or two. 2017 and 2018 were my BYEs in downloads and $, but I run a small team now. I don't think I would have seen the increase on my own only.

Looking at my remittance email I just got, I noticed some data on the bottom.  At first, I assumed it was related to my overall payments from iStock over the years.  But when I looked closer, I noticed the total was over 5.6 million (I assume dollars) -- and that's not all mine.

Do you think that's how much money they're paying everyone this pay period?  Was this information on previous payment emails and I just never noticed it?

This looks like the PayPal batch. I received the Payoneer batch with very different numbers.

I would hope it's a lot more than that...

Upload videos through ESP and photos through Qhero. Both are a thousand times better than the old system, and a bit better than deepmeta imo.

hmmm. my peak was 2013 so I guess I'm up since 2012. Anyhoo...

Most Americans trust successful business leaders far more than they trust politicians.

Bernie hasn't a chance, Hillary was anointed by the Dems a long time ago. The only thing that would keep her out is a trip to prison.

Simply NOT true! After last night Hillary only increased her delegate lead by 57, leaving Sanders plenty of room to eliminate her advantage in the 24 remaining states. A candidate needs 2,383 delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination, and as of March 16, Clinton only has 1,139 delegates to Sanders 825. All of the states most favorable to Clinton have already voted, and the states most favorable to Sanders are still on the calendar.

Feel the Bern!  8)

It's not over till it's over!

You must be getting your facts from a Bernie email. The count is 1,606 Hillary to 851 Bernie. She only needs 776 (33% of the rest) more to clinch it.

I don't like either of them fyi, so I have no dog in that hunt.

I don't understand the mentality. If people think the system is corrupt why vote in some super rich guy? Why not vote in someone that wants to reform the system like Bernie. Does the electorate think the solution is to only have super rich politicians from now on? And by the way rich doesn't mean incorruptible, they didn't get rich by not being greedy or knowing enough is enough.

Most Americans trust successful business leaders far more than they trust politicians.

Over 1 million? In microstock? Wow.  :o

Of course not seriously. It's called humour, people see that button and have to click it because they know it'll create a stir, which will amuse them. And although I asked for that button it wasn't me who clicked it. It can only have been Yuri

I know of 4-5 people who were making that 2 or 3 years ago, and those are only people I know of. Not sure if they are making that now though.

Credit Sales are not dead, but subs are clearly growing while credits have been decreasing. When it will level off is anyone's guess. Personally my sales are on an upswing now despite being down overall from 2014. Q3 and Q4 are both up from last year.

Some sites pay more than 50% for exclusive contributors. Fotolia 64%
...for Credits. Subscriptions at FT are 25% for everyone, so the average is much lower me thinks... even for exclusives.

General - Stock Video / Re: Video on istock - question
« on: March 03, 2015, 16:39 »
I believe the top 4 video sellers are Istock, getty images, shutterstock, and pond5. Exclusivity with IStock gets you into 2 of these markets. Going non-exclusive gets you into 3, but one with a reduced royalty rate. I was non-exc for about 9 months and have been exc for the last 8 months or so. I prefer exc at this point, but each has it's advantages.

It also currently gives you higher royalty on subscription sales. Again, only for exclusives.

« on: August 07, 2014, 18:02 »
Just noticed some PP sales on the first of July! What about the subscription sales? Do they come in as well?

Oh, just seen, my subs seem to have turned up already ... don't know if it is all of them, because they all get dumped into the first day that you get any, they aren't spread across the month as they ought to be.

I have a few for the 9th, no other days so far . . . . .

You can go to your downloads page, click on image subscriptions to see all your sales. Right now it's only done through the 18th.

I made $31 while watching that video :)

Did anyone report a 2,50 subs sales? The higher price option is being offered now, right?

Yes, nearly half of mine were... and most of my sub income was from 2.50 sales.
