Yaymicro / Re: yaymicro - new microstock site
« on: May 21, 2008, 08:35 »
What I love about YayMicro is that they accept DVD submissions.
With a portfolio of over a thousand pics and bandwidth at ridiculous prices in South Africa, it becomes * expensive for me to join a new site and get all my images online. Way cheaper through the post.

I do like their upload process. Uploaded a couple to test the process. Real easy. And after my DVD has been submitted and they start making me money, I'll be a regular contributor there.

And if somebody feels like spreading the love, here's my referral link:

New Sites - General / Africapic
« on: July 05, 2007, 07:57 »
I've been introduced to a new Stock site www.africapic.com
All those guys like me who have tons of wildlife pics, this is the place to sell them  ;D
And they pay in EURO!!!
50% commission!!!
Sounds like a great deal to me.
They have royalty free and Rights managed section.
For all the negative people... Before you start... I've only mailed my CD's today, so I have NO IDEA what sales are like, and yes you have to mail DVD/CD's but hell, they'll do IPTC for you. How easy is it to just cut all your pics to DVD and then put it in the mail. Thats that!!! No uploading for days on end (I had over 700 to sumit).
discussed moneybookers with the owner and he's investigating it as an option, same as FTP.
At the moment they do Paypal.
But enough of my rambling, just go have a look at the site. I actually qiute like their layout.
www.africapic.com
P.S. They are looking for ALL Africa related pics from ANY African Country.

I still can't find any upload button anywhere on the site.
I'm sure they've lost a LOT of business with this whole mess.

ImageVortex.com / Re: First sales
« on: May 24, 2007, 01:56 »
I've set my prices on everything to $150, so even if I just have one sale, that would equal a payout  ;D
Call me a greedy *insult removed*, but someday, somebody might just think the picture is worth that price  ;D
And seeing that you all have hardly any sales, with no payouts, I'm not really missing out on anything with my strategy.
And their HIGH rejection rate just peeves me off.

New Sites - General / Re: Microstockphoto closed?
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:52 »
Ruben: The response time on this forum is exceptionally fast, hence the post here :)
I'm still uploadng to your site and don't think I'll ever delete the photo's, just don't make no sense. Even if the site only kicks off in 2 yearstime, HELL... Even if it only kicks of in 5 years time... I've already done the work to get the photos up, so then I can just sit back and earn :)
I've only had one sale ($0.70) with 200+ images online for a while now, so sales are extremely slow.
But we have hope for you :)

Yes its within minutes from stocksites to moneybookers, but some of the sites take upto 2 weeks to process your cash-out/earnings request.

Something I would suggest you have a serious look at changing is the duration of the affiliate program.
6 MONTHS!!! ths is a joke for refering new photographers to your site, when you have done hardly any marketing.
If I refer a photographer to you today and they only get a decent size portfolio up in 2 months of constant uploading, that leaves 4 months for sales, but you have hardly any sales now, since you are still collecting a big database of images.
So in actual fact I might make 1 or 2 pounds in the first 6 months if I'm lucky, and thats the end of my referred photographer...

At the moment I refer all the photographers only to sites that I get a decent percentage for a prolonged period. Otherwise they waste their uploading time on sites I will not benefit from.

5p is not going to make you guys poor, to continue giving it lifelong, instead of 6 months, especialy in the initial phase of your site.

This is the single most important factor keeping me from signing up and uploading the 800+ images I have so far as stock images.
Please reconsider the period of your referral program.

Screw Paypal, I want Moneybookers ;D
Seriously now... Paypal isn't the greatest for countries that don't accept paypal. South Africa only accepts Moneybookers.

Anyway you can have those sites automatically translated from german to english in IE7?
I can sort of follow some of it (Because I'm Afrikaans), but not exactly 100%

But on the other hand, there are sites of mine with ZERO sales, at least there is movement  ;D

New Sites - General / Re: New microstock site in town?
« on: February 08, 2007, 02:06 »
You'll have to consider moneybookers as Paypal are not country friendly to us Sout African ppl and many other countries.
And some of your biggest Photographer portfolios in Microstock also come from South Africa(Forgiss, to name one).

This is the part of KeenImages that puts me off them:
'a contributor permits a buyer unlimited use of the photo'

This looks like a ONE programmer setup only working on the site over weekends.
I hardly see any movement in development.

Somebody at crestock had to have put the 'Dig this story' icon and link on the Crestock page featuring my pic.

Crestock.com / Re: Phonecall from Crestock
« on: January 11, 2007, 11:58 »
Usually I would be peeved about the no watermark, but in this case, I never even thought that image was stock worthy. I just saw it as a funny pic.
Now it's bringing attention and traffic to Crestock and my portfolio, so not too bad a trade off.
It's recieved 4809 views so far  ;D
Any case, the un watermarked pic is only 549 x 369 pixels, not much good exept for creating another chain mail of crazy images. Won't see that one on a billboard soon.
I never thought that i would contribute to the chain emails that I hate so much... Such is life  ::)

Crestock.com / Phonecall from Crestock
« on: January 11, 2007, 09:54 »
I was about to give up on Crestock, then suddenly I get this phonecall from an overseas phone number.
The man identified himself as from Crestock.
He just phoned to inform me that one of my images have been viewed more than 4000+ times and was being featured on a site called digg.com http://www.digg.com/offbeat_news/Nastiest_traffic_jam_EVER
Then he asked me some feedback type questions about the site and said they value my contributions etc...
What a major suprise!!!
Here's the pic:

LuckyOliver.com / Re: LO Website Expired
« on: January 11, 2007, 03:49 »
I'm only on $7.2 so far with LO, but then again I mostly do wildlife.
I do like the site and will continue with them. They have th personal touch, which I like in any company, simmilar to Richard Branson's approach.
