« on: July 30, 2008, 06:40 »
I have deleted a big part of my StockXpert portfolio... my best sellers elsewhere + my favorite images + all images with model releases...  I have deleted all images I was not ready to sale EL for $0.30...

This done, I am now ready to take some time to think about it without pressure...  and it seems that I seriously thinking about deleting everything there.

Also, it is very bad to do this while there is so many people on vacations. Really unfair, unrespectfully. This is bad, bad, bad.

Lighting / Re: What do you use for backing?
« on: May 26, 2008, 08:19 »
For isolated small subject, I have tried many kind of paper and fabrics, and finally prefer "avery graphic" bough at a big artist store. It is shiny vinyl with a paper on back that can be peeled to glue it. I don't need the glued back, but that's what I found best for now.

I'm not perfectly happy with it, but that the material that gave me the best result until now. There is no texture, just a perfecly sleek surface.

I will try those craft foam, it seems a good idea!  Thanks for sharing about it!  :-)

iStockPhoto.com / help on English text please.
« on: May 26, 2008, 07:26 »
Good day everyone,

There is a change on photographer's agreement that appear highlighted in red when login in Istock.  I have read it and re-read it, and still don't understand what it exactly mean. If someone would like to explain it in French or with very easy English sentences (just like if you were talking to a young kid... lol)  It will be very helpful for me.

the bold text is the part that give me hard time.

Thanks!

Lana

"Better than grabbing a photo off google images ... and more legal"

For me this mean that images are not perfectly legal, but just more legal than those find on google images.   Does more legal, mean completely legal?  I mean... if I grab images off google images, this is more legal than acking a photographer computer, but this don't mean it's legal.

Maybe it's only a bad translation in my mind... ???

I was very surprised to read this about StockXpert !  ???

For me StockXpert is a site where I get very few rejections since the start and it has not changed for me. I cannot say neither that my sales are lower than before, but you know... little less than just a little is less noticeable than less than much... lol

Shutterstock.com / Re: Trouble with initial acceptance at SS
« on: January 01, 2008, 11:15 »
Because there is a wainting time before resubmitting, I believe it is not a good idea to resubmit same images. I'm sure you do improve yourself while waiting the resubmission date... so your most recent images are probably your bests !  ;-)

Except for some occasional mistakes that can occur (they are only humans, just like us!), I believe most reviews at SS are similar and enough right.  If the acceptance/refusal are always different for some images, maybe your images are sitting just at their acceptable limits?!  It is hard to say without seeing it, and without knowing the rejection reasons you got.  Also, they are told more "capricious" for the first ten.

Also, each stock sites have their own criteria. It is hard to create photos that please totaly to many different sites. I don't know what subject you are usually shooting, but I believe human, food and business images will help alot to be accepted at SS first ten. Avoid flowers, landscape and animals; And avoid noise, they don't tolerate any noise.

Off Topic / Re: Neat Image ?
« on: December 22, 2007, 07:44 »
I have tried Neat Image (not as plugin), I feel like there is something I don't do right. I was not satisfied at all, it gave me too many artifact. It's probably because I have not took enough time to learn it...

Since I have tried the plugin of "noiseware professionnal", from "Imagenomic", I stick with it.

I have install it few months ago, and have enter some rules to avoid emails with specific words like "viagra" in body of message, and have done some test while sending message from my hotmail account and all messages with the word "viagra" has been received anyway.   :-\

I'm happy to know that you are satisfied with it; maybe I have failed enter my rules properly and should give it a new try...

I'll wait to see what other people have to suggest; anyway I have to wait until Christmas to receive my new computer.   ;D

Thank you very much for your reply!

Off Topic / your email/agenda softwares
« on: December 21, 2007, 08:41 »
Hello everyone,

I am not perfectly happy with email and agenda software I use, so I would like to know if some of you have suggestions.

I am looking for an email software that really applies my filters and rules, and agenda able to alert me with a popup.  I would prefert having both in the same software, like "Outlook".    Outlook seems the best I have found yet, but I had too many intermittent trouble sending/receiving attachment files with it, and filters and rules are not working as well as "Outlook Express".

I'm working on PC, Windows XP.

Thank you!

« on: August 05, 2007, 08:13 »
Huh!  Is my English very bad or there is a contradiction on there "about us" page???

The first say they pay up to $2 + $0.20 per download and later the say they pay $2.00 and no other fees to photographer!  Weird! Weird! Weird!

I just wrote them, to ask why there is a contradiction... will post their response... if I do receive one!  ;-)

Hi!

I had a look at your photos. They looks fine for me. If you are familiar with Photoshop, I would suggest you trying to clone the little "dust/hair" on his right cheek (mean left on the photo).

I believe it is not a good idea to submit three so similar images.

BTW your baby is soooo cute!  :-)

Good luck to you!
