If it weren't for the fact that I actually get sales there, I'd give up on them. Used to be one of my favorite sites, but now it's just aggravating.  Today, I got a rejection on a shot of Pirate's Alley in the New Orleans' French Quarter because it said it was an identifiable location.  Well...yeah.  *sigh*

I have one pending since the 29th, also.

I joined your site a few days ago and really liked the interface...uploading is a breeze...love the overall design...there are a lot of great things going for it.  However, I don't have a good first impression of the rating system.  As soon as I uploaded a batch of images, a single user went through and rated every one of them 1,2 or 3 with no comments on any.  Now, I know I'm no Ansel Adams, but some of these pics have sold over 500 times, so they must be useable.  It is very discouraging and unwelcoming.  Sure, it's only one person, but that's all it takes to make you feel badly.  If the feedback were going to help me in some way, that would be great, but since I have no idea what the objections are, I will just slink away with my tail between my legs and my head hanging lowwwww.....

use exposure compensation, or manual, or some other light metering mode.  :p it is not point and shoot camera.

Well, I certainly know it's not a P&S.  I'm not sure why you would think I'm treating it as such.  :-)  But that really has nothing to do with the fact that it underexposes, a known problem with this model...it just wasn't known by me until after I bought it.  All in all, it's a nice camera...I like the interface.  But, I'm seriously considering sending it to Canon to see if they can do something with it.  I've read that some people have had some luck with that.

I love many things about my 400D, but it seriously underexposes.  You may want to read up on that problem...wish I had.

Maco,
Hey, I understood you first time around.  :-)  I do the same thing as you plan to...carry my A640 all the time for personal snapshots and whatever comes up.  I've gotten some good stock shots from it along the way.  You should be able to turn off the in-camera sharpening, even in the P&S.  I use the bicubic sharpen when I resize in Photoshop and haven't had a problem, but I do have in-camera sharpening off.  My 640 has 10mp, so there's plenty of room for resizing.  I do get that dreadful chromatic aberration on occasions, sometimes irretrievably.  When that happens, it's a bummer...makes me wish I had my regular gear.  I do haul it around most of the time, but sometimes it's just too much.

I think LO has enormous potential.  I actually enjoy their reviews, even the rejections.  I know, I'm weird.  My downloads are picking up and becoming more consistent, even for my small portfolio.  I think they're doing an excellent job of building community, and I'm in for the long haul.  I feel valued. I'm proud to play a tiny part in what I know will ultimately be a huge success.  If they had a flag, I'd wave it from my front porch.  :D

My sales have really picked up at LO in recent weeks.  It's such a great site...I believe that time will prove it to be a success!

I think they're really cute, but you'll probably get a reject from IS saying that the on-camera flash caused flat lighting.  I'm still trying to overcome that.  :-)  btw, you may want to watermark those images...

I sent them a few of Mardi Gras parades within hours of the parade passing...they said that Mardi Gras wasn't news. But one of their examples of what is news is parades.  Sheesh!  I give up on these people...I'm waiting out my 6 months.

Adelaide, I just got lucky!  That doesn't usually happen for me, either. :-)
P, that sounds like a good strategy. That site drives me crazy...I don't know why I even submit there.  I actually quit for awhile, but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

I've been trying for a year to figure out what DT wants. I just had one rejected today for "lack of composition." It was accepted this week at 5 other sites, has only been up since Monday and has already sold 30+ times, plus an extended license. And it hasn't even been reviewed by IS yet, which is where most of my sales are. So, if there's lack of composition, no one else is "seeing" it.  *sigh*

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Different model releases for every site?
« on: December 20, 2006, 15:38 »
Even with all logos and specific references removed, Dreamstime won't accept any other company's model release from me.  So, I just don't bother with people shots with them anymore. As for IS wanting an ID, is it possible that your model looks under age? If so, they will require ID if the model signed rather than a parent/guardian.
