Back in the slide days earnings agencies paid annually. When I sold to publishers direct the terms were 90 days after publication, which could be a year off.
Maybe live stats does not accurately reflect how business is done. You would be counting chickens before the eggs hatched.

Well I got the email and it was just the same link to change my pw that I used before. So I changed it using the same pw I used this morning with the same link. And it worked. Also Deep Meta syncs now. Thanks for the responses and help.

I still can't log in. I reset my PW again today. I have to use my old email to do that which is an aol account. I get all my usual correspondence from Getty through a gmail account as aol always blocked my newsletters. I never recieved the email about this recent log in problem. If anyone knows a fix, I need it.

When I reset my PW it said I was now logged in and it gave me a link to Getty and one to the upload page. But I was not logged in and the new PW didn't fix the problem. I will try later.

Keep checking the Help forum on iS's forums for progress on this.
(Oh, but if you can't get in to iS/Getty at all, that's no use).
Maybe they'll manage to fix it for everyone by the end of the month.  ::)

Is there anything in the help forums about this now? I am not the only one? I thought maybe I got kicked out, although I have been uploading and selling regularly and otherwise behaving.

I tried a different browser (in my case Firefox instead of Chrome) and I could then just log in ..

I double checked my username, reset the pw and tried logging in with Firefox. Same message as on Chrome.
Also Deep meta is not syncing. There is nothing I can do now but wait. I was hoping to switch how I get paid.  Nothng to do now but wait for a response and hop it is a useful one.

I have been logging  on to the Esp Getty site since it's inception and never have a problem signing in. I use the numeric code they gave me as a user name and a pw that is normally saved on Google. I have checked and rechecked the user name and reset the pw twice and I still get the message that the username and pw does not match their records. I was able to contact them through a link on the page reset page and they said they will respond within 10 days!!
Has anyone had this problem? Is it a site glitch? Also I think this is affecting Deep Meta, although I haven't tried to upload anything since this happened. Deep Meta is not updating and I get a message to check credentials. I updated the pw and get the same message.

When I moved to that area 21 years ago I was already a sea turtle biologist and I had a keen interest in getting photos for my slide shows as well as stock. I found that the community frowns on loners going out and disturbing nesting turtles. There is no shortage of good photos of nesting turtles. It is not really worth it and without a flash you are not going to get anything truly stock worthy. Go out on a group tour with the Sea Turtle Preservation Society and try to get some photos with no flash. You will get some first hand experience on what to expect and will be able to see what you can do. The best pictures are taken just around dawn as the light is coming up. You would be lucky to find one then, but you would be able to photograph a turtle easily because once she is laying she is not going to move. Again any early morning observers are going to make you keep a distance so don't expect to get up close. Those days are long gone. You are talking about Archie Carr NWR. It is well protected and patrolled during nesting season.

Yes, payment actually came through on Thursday, though there are some ESP issues which mean we should be getting an extra bump.

Thanks. I see now I didn't make the minimum required for payment. Which never happened before. But maybe if there is an adjustment I will hit the mark and get paid.

Somewhere I read that we would be paid on the 25th of every month and if that was on a weekend then then payment would be the Friday before. I have not been paid and I have not found any notice that payment will be late. Should I be worried my payment got lost the way my  ESP notice did? Have most other contributors received their Paypal payments?

So I never got the email. But I learned thought the forums leaned that you can sign in at the web address and then use the forgot name link and they did email me a login name. When I got in I saw they had my email address incorrect. In fact I had changed it through a support ticket, because I was not getting all the stuff from Getty that others were getting. I had been using an AOL account that I used when I signed up in 2007. And I know that AOL has a spam block that blocks some emails from some sites from ever even getting into my spam box.  I have the same problem with Fine Art America. Certain emails never make it while others do. It is a known AOL thing. So any way when I finally got the email changed, I started getting notices from Getty again. But I had to change my email address in my ESP from AOL to my other email profile, even though it was changed a couple of months back and I was getting other notices. This may be helpful to others who have changed email since joining.

I got this also. But still no ESP and I am exclusive. I am not even looking at it until I get my ESP email.

12
No email for me yet. No ESP. I can't log in to Deep Meta. I am exclusive and they said all exclusives should have got one. I put in a support ticket yesterday morning.  I guess there is really nothing to see anyway.

13
Nothing. And I am exclusive. There was a message that all exclusives should have received theirs by 2/3. Based on that I put in a support ticket this morning. It is somewhat comforting to know i am not the only one. I don't know if any other exclusives didn't get the email.

Well it is Friday evening and I still have no sign in name or pw. I did finally get the Deepmeta update, but it requires the new login info. This is really putting the cart before the horse. I havent been able to upload for 2 days if I wanted to. Of course the update they promised this morning never happened and the day passed with no further comment. They did say they were overwhelmed by the number of non-exclusives on the site. By I am still exclusive, although it doesn't seem to make me feel any more important right now.

I also got the audio deprecation letter. At first I thought only my audio uploading privileges were being taken away. That is ok since I never actually uploaded any audio. But then I looked up deprecation and thought they were taking all my uploading privileges due to something they think I said in November 2016. I checked the audio forum, but I am still a bit nervous about everything.

General Stock Discussion / Re: 2015 Stock Photo Survey!!
« on: May 30, 2016, 11:38 »
I almost finished and then hit the go button on the keypad, which blanked out all the answers. On an Iphone 6.  Why have a go button then?if the survey software is glitched then the results are skewed.

17
It's deceptive because the All button shows the same files as the Essential button and the Signature button is disabled. (or the other way around). It's difficult to navigate out of that view and frustrating to keep hitting a button that is disabled. It makes it look like the site is broken. Why have the buttons visible if they don't work? How is that helping a buyer who wants to see them all or the other collection?

Print on Demand Forum / Re: FineArt America and Google Images
« on: September 02, 2015, 07:22 »
'You wanna know what else discourages sales of wall art? People being able to take FAA images from Google that are big enough to print an 8x12 with."
Hard to say if that is true or not. I know small images make up about 2% of my sales. For example last month i sold 10 prints over 20 inches. Maybe there are hundreds of people out there just downloading my 900 pixel image and making small prints. but i think that it is more likely it is fairly rare.

"the ROI was not worth having my work stolen for web sites."

They don't actually steal, they download a copy with no license. I am not sure where the loss comes in. As a stock seller I have thousands of images all over the internet that can be downloaded. Why would I not use my own images to promote my own products when I allow those who license my images to do so?  I am not going to stop making real money because of imaginary losses.

Up until recently I only had one photo taken with a phone. (iphone 5). I took it to try the Getty Moments app. It never went to Getty and after about 6 months it showed up on iStock editorial. It sold once but is very seasonal. It makes no sense for me to use that app now.

I took some photos last week with my iphone 6+ that could not have been taken with a DSLR. They were accepted right away. I didn't use the keyword "mobilestock" because I really didn't remember to use it. It does not have a mobile look to it. Camera phones have different capabilities than DSLRs because of their small size. Of course I am going to take of advantage that.

I am not even showing a balance now. Nothing for July so far. This never happened in the 8 years I have been there. I have to say I don't put any effort in. It's not worth the effort or expense to shoot microstock anymore. June was very poor and I received no payment from Getty either.

"By submitting images to Fine Art America, You grant to Fine Art America a worldwide, non-exclusive right to sell, license, sublicense, reproduce, prepare derivative works incorporating, publicly display, market, sublicense and sell any images uploaded by You and accepted by Fine Art America in exchange for specified compensation as agreed upon by You and Fine Art..."
http://fineartamerica.com/termsofuse.html?document=contributortermsofuse
Basically the license and sublicense only applies if you have an agreement and are compensated. I am no lawyer but that's how I read it.
Istock by Getty gave approval to the site for their exclusives. Although the TOS probably changed. I never heard it to be an issue and they only license if you agree separately to do that through the Pixels licensing site.

I can verify that the post by stockastic is correct in that the complaint is in the forums. I have made a hundred sales with no returns.
Most of your assessment is correct. Customer service gets in the woods around holiday time.
The automatic renewal is problematic for some. But if you just order a new CC the one they have on file becomes void and your account will close. You can then send in new info and it will reopen.

There is no inspection for copyright. They are not required to be the copyright police and are not providing a warranty for that. They only take down if there is a complaint by the copyright holder. This leaves it wide open for abuse, but 99% of what some think is not legal actually is. And I am speaking strictly about prints and not products.

Please correct your title and posts to say FAA not FFA. I mean if you are going to use just the first letters at least use the right first letters.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Is iS dead now?
« on: January 04, 2015, 13:01 »
My last download was 12/23. That's the longest with no dl ever since 2007. I have photos that I won't even bother to upload. It's over. I also had no Getty dls in October and I have not had a file moved to Getty in almost 2 years. I am exclusive but not sure if I will even bother to drop that and upload elsewhere. It was a nice run for a while but all things must pass.

Yes IS is dead.

Ok now that you named the person it is easier to understand. It's a lot easier to have strong growth when you are not in the big league in sales. That person is probably working hard and is in the part of the growth curve where efforts can show results. As some early diamonds saw there comes a time when you reach an equilibrium where hard work just keeps you even. That is even more so on istock now which is being flooded with new work while possibly actually losing buyers.

There is a certain black diamond I had the good fortune to meet 6 years ago when he had just turned diamond. He always reported growth while others were losing ground. He is a creative genius and full of talent and energy. As long as there is a camera in his hand he is producing. But I just checked and even he has reached the bad side of the curve.
