General Stock Discussion / Re: Your worst performer?
« on: March 13, 2007, 06:04 »
istock is my best by far, although they reject more of my photos than anyone else. BS accept more of my photos, and don't sell anything!

I've only been in microstock for a month, and I have least photos with istock (21), compared to dreamstime and fotolia (45ish), but my earnings are much higher with istock than the other two. So it might well be worth the pain...

congratulations! My portfolio is smallest at istock due to the newbie restriction, but most cash. Enjoy the site!

I'm a new user at istock - does this mean I should start manually disambugating (argh -sp!!) there? I have a teeny tiny portfolio, so it shouldn't be a problem.

hi everyone,

I'm just new to the microstock world, but would love to set up a creative network with other newbies so we can check out each others work, share tips, give feedback etc on istock. Anyone care to join me? I'm FionaMark on istock, if you want to add me to your CN.

thanks!  :)

General - Top Sites / bad stock day
« on: January 31, 2007, 06:53 »
I've only been in the microstock world a month, so naturally I'm trying to upload as many pics as possible. Such a bad day yesterday - 37 of 38 pics at dreamstime declined!!! And some were from exactly the same shoot that had been accepted a few days before. And then my second shutterstock rejection came through. What was even worse was that the pictures that they had accepted previously they now rejected! I failed even worse than the first time around!!!

I know I shouldn't feel that I am at the capricious whims of reviewers, and that the system is mostly fair, my ego is most definitely bruised.  :(
Better just pick myself up and take more photos!

New Sites - General / Re: StockPhotoSpot

I have to admit I thought it sounded pretty sketchy and would probably prey on people who don't have any experience with stock. Have no  idea how many members/pictures they have.

New Sites - General / StockPhotoSpot
« on: January 26, 2007, 18:43 »
hi all,

i've seen a lot of ads recently for stockphotospot, who offer a flat $2/upload, rather than a pay-per-download system. Anyone had any experience with them?

iPhoto doesn't do it. aperture does, but (a) I can't afford it, and (b), my wee ibook would fall over if I actually tried to load it up! Thanks for the help, and if anyone has any other suggestions, would love to hear them!

I think CJ mentioned that there is IPTC freeware out there. I work on a mac, and would love something nifty that will take out the pain of keywording. Does anyone know of anything?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock increased its upload limits

The new limits lasted for about a week - they are down to 15/168 for newbies  :(

Seems it will take an age for an absolute beginner like myself to make any money there. I did get 3 DLs in a week though  ....

General Stock Discussion / Keyword Generator
« on: January 01, 2007, 12:45 »
Hi all,

I've just started stock photography, and I absolutely hate keywording. It is such a necessary evil. I've just uploaded some pics on canstock, and they have a nifty key word generator. Does anyone know of a similar standalone tool? I run a mac, so would prefer it was online.

thanks!
