General Stock Discussion / Re: Big vs Small
« on: October 07, 2010, 06:40 »
Thanks for that info Leaf!! Its deffinitely a very interesting thing to think about- The whole smaller community feel does appeal to me alot! The small will never get bigger or improve their earning potential if we all shun them!  ;D

Im backing the small firms to survive. Although big firms do dominate I think the smaller ones that keep their costs down and business steady, like Photaki.com , will be a good bet! Although sales may sometimes be low, you can rely on the smaller ones to be competing and innovating constantly-purely because they need to to stay in the game. And we should be supporting that!!
 :) :)

New member and pumping photaki every post ? Never heard of them, maybe change your name to photaki.

Im relatively new to this whole thing- I was told about Photaki by a spanish friend (its a spanish company, probably why you havent heard of it) but i am fully open to everyones input on the best places to go to!! Maybe dont be so synical? I though this sight was welcoming to newbies!!

But I was more interested in this feed in terms of business models- im a big supporter of all small businesses in all industries, i dont like the giants taking over!

Hi all,
Im relatively new to all of this and just trying to find my feet. Ive been looking to submit to some of the smaller sites like Photaki.com, it feels a lot more like id have an identity there (as a client and as a seller)- but I really want your input on which sites really are best- Big or Small??
Id really appreciate your feedback!!!

New Sites - General / Re: Photaki?

The fact that they have both Rights Managed and Royalty Free licenses means profits can be a bit higher!

And like you said Alfonsodetomas, it could be worse!- and if you dont have many photos uploaded what else can you expect?- dont think we can blame the small sites like Photaki.com for low sales if were not putting it out there!
 ;D

Photaki definitely has decent commission rates! You can get upto 90% commission depending on how many downloads you get per image, which is obviously a bonus.
Also, they do an affiliate scheme where you can get a cut (10% i think) of the profits from any photographers you reccommend.
The site is deffinitely worth a visit.

To put a slightly different spin on things, although the big players are good on paper, it has been worth my while to go with smaller sites like Photaki.com. I felt like I got more attention and decent commission rates.

Maybe the big ones work for most, but I just wouldnt rule out the smaller companies without a thorough investigation!!
