« on: June 30, 2007, 08:33 »
yeah it looked good to me until I realized they sell ALL the photos at $1 no matter what size .......

This was my question too. Jon from Albumo send me this :
"● Why is there different price availability for various images?
To best serve to our customer needs and to keep low prices, our images are offered in different sizes for a different price.  Image ranking system also allows us to reward our artists and to encourage the creators of stock photography to upload only best images.  Here is a brief example of our image ranking system.

If image was purchased (downloaded) less then 5 times its only available in its Original size for 1 credit.  If it was purchased more then 5 times but less then 15 its being offered in two sizes Large and Original for 1 and 2 credits respectively, and so on.  Please keep in mind that all our images can be purchased for as low as 1 credit (or 85 cents).  "

 902x600 pixels
(12.5x8.3 " @ 72 dpi) 1 credit(s)
 1805x1200 pixels
(6x4 " @ 300 dpi) 2 credit(s)
 3610x2400 pixels
(12x8 " @ 300 dpi) 3 credit(s)
 4309x2865 pixels
(14.4x9.6 " @ 300 dpi) 4 credit(s)

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Declining trend?
« on: May 22, 2007, 12:25 »
Surprisngly, the past three months have been my best months ever on IS.

Shutterstock on the other hand, has been steadily declining.

same with me.

Same.

I really dont like the idea to have to pay to sell more photos. Like a majority of us, I have only very few ( 8 ) downloads on LO what is nothing compared to downloads on IS, SS, DT, FT. I still upload on LO because I found this site contributors friendly. Now its a little bit different. I think that a big part of us is in microstock not only for the money. Theres also a part of competition, creativity, marketing ideas, chance (be in a good place in a good time), photo and post-processing technique, and simply pleasure Better photographs and better keywording are the right rules for this sport. Money that we earn is some kind of measure how good we are. If we pay to sell more this measure will be false.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Scanning
« on: March 12, 2007, 07:56 »
I've Coolscan V for one month. It's a great scanner. IR anti-dust fonction works very good. For instance I scan only my slide films, like you mostly Kodachrome 25-64. I have very good acceptance ratio on IS, DT, FT, BS, FP, LO. Only SS doesn't like them, 100% rejected  ;D

It would be more logical (and faster) than a new member add the old one. You have the complete CN list above. ;D

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Isolations at iStock
« on: March 01, 2007, 08:12 »
I'm going crazy trying to get my isolations accepted at iStock.
All of a sudden I'm  getting rejected for jagged edges.  I think one of the reviewers there is checking the isolations with zero tolerance. Thats plain silly. Even the very cleanest of isolations, once they are compressed, will show slight jagginess at 100% with zero tolerance, so I think its impossible to upload a jpeg-ed isolation that would be clean enough under those conditions.

I have the same problem and no solution. I'd posted a topic on IS forum - no response.
On SS forum I had some responses but no real solution. Here's a link to SS forum topic:

I think it's about numbers. By selling big size images cheaper, they sell more. More downloads --> go higher stage faster (bronze, gold...) --> more pourcentage for exclusives and less upload limits.  And more traffic to the portfolio.

StockXpert.com / Re: New Community Guy at StockXpert
« on: February 16, 2007, 07:03 »
Hello Steve,
I'm sure that Community Guy can be very useful. I'm  new in microstock world but not new in photograpy. Before uploading a lot of photographs, I try to analyse and understand how MS works. I'm never sure at 100% if an image will be accepted , but I think that I start to know very well what each site is looking for (IS, SS, DT, FT, LO, BS...). Every site but not StockXpert! It seems like you change yours standards every day. And it's not quality problem. I still don't know what kind of image you want. Your technical rejection reasons seem to be "random" reasons.
If your reviewers have to work very fast maybe it's better to have only 2 options : YES - NO. So we don't waste our time to understand what are you talking about. You don't like it - it's OK.  Maybe you can send us a newsletter with a list of categories that you are looking for. Be clear it's better for contributors and for StockXpert.
I hope that you understand my bad english.
Thank you.

Any security issues related to giving the software our passwords?

???
Prostockmaster looks pretty good but what about security ? You give 8 accounts with 8 passwords. Anybody knows this company ?

I didn't know about it either. It's funny how you can miss something that's staring you in the face (at least, I seem to be able to  ::) )

Hehe, I'm blind too.
Thanks

1.   Ranking. If you rank somebodys photo - be honest. Rank only a few images, not entire portfolio. I will be happy (maybe happy its not a good word  ;D) even if you rank MY photograph 0/5 if you really think its a crap. If we want to have real results we need real data.

- A non-5 rating will send an image pretty far down the Best Match order and basically kill any sales potential.  The first images that show up on the Best Match are ones with all 5 ratings.  So if you have ANY non-5 ratings, then you will not appear in the first batch of images at all.  So I would suggest refraining from rating an image lower than 5.

Ooops, forget my stupid idea.

It works! I have added yingyan0 and snem to my network and earned 100$ today !  ;D (yesterday only 3$)
Feel free to add me too, same username.
Thanks

Wow, a 100$!! Thats a lot! Do you sold a lot of Els, or how does this increase happened? I myself had my bestday (without ELs) ever on IS.

Thanks guys!
Sorry, it was just a joke.  ;)
Now the serious things. English is my third language please dont misunderstand me, Im not arrogant guy, just not good to chose the right words.
Im quit new in micro stock word and I think that CN maybe a good way to progress. We can help each other and better understand how this business works. I would be happy to how a ranking system works, importance of categories, titles, description So the real question is if we want to take advantage of CN to analyse this system and have feedback or just to have a big number of members. I propose some rules, Id be happy to know what are you thinking about it.
1.   Ranking. If you rank somebodys photo - be honest. Rank only a few images, not entire portfolio. I will be happy (maybe happy its not a good word  ;D) even if you rank MY photograph 0/5 if you really think its a crap. If we want to have real results we need real data.
2.   Messages. Ill be happy to help you if I can. Ill try to respond all serious post, but write in English is painful for me so:  Ill not respond to all happy birthday, French fries vs. freedom fries messages.
3.   Reviews. Take a look to others portfolios. If we find wrong keyword, category or copyright problem PM the owner. Suggest new-better keywords.
4.   Feedback. Inform each other about influence of changing (ranking, keywords changing ) on downloads
Thanks to try to understand me.
Regards,
Jacus
