Guess the voice in my head was wrong.

Maybe I should stop listening to it.

Same here.

How often do you guys upload there?

A voice in the back of my head is telling me I once read somewhere that if you don't contribute enough you don't get the contributor bonus.

But I'm not really sure.

They are very inconsistent. I've had rejections for the same reason and I just reupload and they get accepted.

There's lot of angry people on the Envanto forum.

Which forum? Can't seem to find the thread.

You have to be logged in to read it.

I sell on Elements and I am logged in but still no access.

I got the email from Envato but the link to the forum doesn't work.

All it says is: Sorry, you don't have access to that topic!

I wonder if people got so angry that they decided to shut down the thread.

« on: August 04, 2017, 13:16 »
I don't think they ever had a button.  I searched in my old emails and I had contacted support to opt out.

I think it was about 3 years ago, so for those who don't know, DP had a partner deal with a site called Shotshop that was selling our images for $30 and contributors would only receive 30 cents for each sale.

Envato / Re: Mystery Payout
« on: July 26, 2017, 14:47 »
According to this help page, Elements is Australia based for payments.

https://help.contributors.elements.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/229335967-Why-has-tax-been-withheld-from-my-earnings-

The payment comes through as Envato USA Inc, which is the same as PhotoDune.

I'm in the USA
I have 0% withheld on PhotoDune
I have 5% withheld on Elements
I have 10% withheld on Canva

I'm confused.

A quick search on Google did turn up this page though:

Shutterstock.com / Re: Questionnair on submission process
« on: May 09, 2017, 11:39 »
I just got it this morning.  I think it is kind of poorly put together.  There are sections where you give a number rating on how important different features are and 1 is the most important and the higher numbers are the least important, which I think is kind of counterintuitive.  I almost put all my answers in backwards.

There is only one small section to add your own comment.  I just asked that they don't ruin file submissions the way they ruined the dashboard and the earnings pages.

Shutterstock.com / SS Dashboard Fix
« on: February 17, 2017, 17:28 »
I just haven't been able to get used to the new dashboard on SS.  They added a bunch of stuff to the top of the page that I don't really care about.

Profile picture front and center?
Unpaid earnings......right under unpaid earnings???
All time earnings in gigantic letters stretching all the way across the page?

I decided to make a Greasemonkey script to fix some of it and I thought I would post it here in case anyone is interested.

Here is a summary of what I changed:

It completely removes the following - the div element with the profile picture, the div element with unpaid earnings, the div element with all time earnings, and the div element for additional resources.

I also took the left hand column and floated it to the right.  This has two advantages.  The first one is that it moves uploads and announcements to the right hand side of the page which is where they were before and where I prefer them to be.  The second is that it moves the map over so that it is front and center where it should be.

The last thing I did was make the Unpaid Earnings button at the top right link to the earnings page like it used to do.

I made this based on my personal preferences and am providing it as is so if you don't like something about it fix it yourself.  :)

In Greasemonkey select New User Script
In the Includes box add the line: https://submit.shutterstock.com/dashboard*
I think Name and Namespace are required but I don't think it matters what you put in those.
Click OK and then copy and paste the following:

function doStuff() {
  document.getElementById('monthly-earnings-dropdown').href = "/earnings";
  document.getElementById('monthly-earnings-dropdown').removeAttribute("data-toggle");
  var x = document.getElementsByClassName("col-md-6 col-sm-12 hidden-xs");
  x[0].style.display = "none";
  x[1].style.display = "none";
  document.getElementById('earnings-summary-container').style.display = "none";
  document.getElementById('resources-blog-container').style.display = "none";
  document.getElementsByClassName("col-md-3 col-sm-4")[0].style.cssFloat = "right";
}

window.onload = doStuff();

iStockPhoto.com / Re: ESP
« on: February 10, 2017, 21:24 »
I got that linkless email and managed to sign in to ESP with my Istock username and pasword...
Did work and immediately went to royalties because it would be nice to receive some info after two months waiting:

No data available
Royalties data will not be available until your first transaction has occurred. Please try again next month.

Looks like it's going to take another month before something shows up, if there were transactions.

Allegedly we're going to be paid on or around 20th Feb.
You can see how many files you're selling (credits, subs and GI/G+ [NOT PP}) if you're in ESP, by clicking on Account Management and riffling around a bit.
Deeply worrying (for me) if it's accurate - I seem to have sold 2 or fewer licences each day this week - including subs.

Where do you see these stats in Account Management? All I can find is "downloads year to date" under the Profile tab and I presume that's only credit sales.

That's the ones.
Admin says on their forum that that is all stats except PP.
(Only number of sales, not $$)
If it's credit sales, I'd be laughing, it would be well up on last year, but if it includes Subs, I'm down.
Also IF DM2 credit sales stats are accurate, then the downloads year to date are a lot more than DM2 is reporting.
For example, yesterday ESP downloads YTD reported only 2 new sales, and DM2 reported one credit sale, so presumbly I got only one sub*.
Today ESP has risen by one, and DM2 hasn't, so presumably all I've had today is one sub*.
*or GI/G+

I was already getting fewer subs per month than I used to get credit sales, but now ... and earning me "as little as 28c".

Only exclusive contributors can see their number of downloads so far, right?  There is still nothing if you are non-exclusive?  This is so confusing.

Did anyone else get the email titled, "Royalties and stats update overview?"  In it it says that we will receive a detailed royalty statement for January on February 20th.  What about December?  Am I the only one that still doesn't know how much I earned in December?

AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock - New earning table design
« on: February 03, 2017, 17:17 »
I honestly don't see how anyone can like this change.  I suppose the monthly view is ok but it is kind of awkward to have the all time total and the monthly total at the top instead of the bottom.  Once used to it it will probably be just fine.

The daily stats view is terrible though.  I had to visit 5 different pages to see what I sold today when just this morning I could have seen it all on 1 page.  The old view also sorted images with the oldest on top and the newest on the bottom which made it easy to quickly scan and see how your whole portfolio was performing; old, new, and everything in between.

Anybody else having images getting hung up in the queue?

I have one pic I uploaded on the 19th and two that I uploaded on the 20th still sitting in review.

All my other pics, including a batch from the 21st, have gone through with no problem.

Some On Demands, one 4K video sale, so it's a nice start of the month for me. Not in terms of download numbers though.

How can you know that a video sale is 4K?   I don't see the size at video sales

It was a sale in the $50 range, so that can only be a 4K sale.

There is really no good way to tell.  I've had videos sell for around $100 that are not available in 4k.  The only way I know of to tell if it was a 4k sale is if you make $59.70 because that is 30% of the listed 4k price.

They never got posted.

The last blog post was about the 2014 results.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia no longer accepting contributor accounts
« on: December 04, 2016, 18:00 »
Does this mean soon we will only be able to check stats, request payouuts, and upload thru Adobe?  I haven't bothered getting set up on the Adobe site because we were told we could keep using Fotolia.  Mat?

It makes sense they would phase out Fotolia to eventually have everything branded as Adobe.

If you're not on the Adobe site you should definitely get set up on it.  Regardless of what happens to Fotolia it is about a million times faster to submit through Adobe.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Copyright Infringement by "AlexeyWork"
« on: November 29, 2016, 19:57 »
joann, its an immense job for an agency to check millions of submitted images dragging them into google images one by one and then check through every returned result to see if it is legal usage or an infringment, not saying you are wrong, just saying its an immense manual job i am not expecting them to do.
Is it really that hard to automate it and find the people that are uploading stolen images from lots of different portfolios?  I would of thought someone would be capable of coding something to do that.

Shutterstock recently sent an email to almost every contributor threatening us to change our spammy titles.
Bigstock tinkered with their categories earlier this year and their system stopped reading metadata.
iStock....bleh...nevermind
Alamy has been working all year to simplify their upload process.
123RF won't even review files unless you write them an email asking them to do it.
PhotoDune can't even accept new photos anymore.

You guys really want them to try to automate catching cheats?  Seriously, what are the chances any of them could pull that off without accidentally banning half their contributors?

123RF / Re: Review time at 123
« on: November 26, 2016, 14:01 »
It has been like this since at least January.  It isn't a temporary thing because of increased traffic, this is just the new normal for them.

I don't think I've had a single review this year without having to contact support to ask for it.

Videos I uploaded in April weren't reviewed until October.  Six months!!!!!  And the only reason they got reviewed was because I wrote to support.  Who knows how long it would it take if I hadn't contacted them.

So frustrating.

I got a $0.41 LEL today as well.

They really make a mockery of what you would expect from an Extended License.

Software / Re: Nik Software Free
« on: March 27, 2016, 18:32 »
I do wonder why they are giving it away free now though.  Google is a corporation and won't do anything unless they can somehow make money from it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting ready to roll out something similar but better.  Maybe they know that whenever CC 2016 comes out it will break the current Nik tools and they want to get everyone hooked on it so they have to pay for a similar but better plugin for the new Photoshop.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Special Characters
« on: March 26, 2016, 14:32 »
Sao Paulo is a standalone city and does not require the country or state.  You also don't need to put the year in the beginning but should include it somewhere in the description.

For example:

SAO PAULO -  FEBRUARY 7: Blah blah blah in Sao Paulo on February 7, 2016.

I don't know if it matters, but the dash that you are using is a different length than the dash that my keyboard produces so maybe that could also be considered a special character.

List of standalone cities is in the link:

Thats a good write up.

I just want to point out that going from 70% to 30% is a 57% percent decrease, so saying it is a 40% decrease actually makes it sound less bad than it is.

I know this is old but I thought it was worth commenting on rather than starting a new thread.

The article is from January but I just found it today and never saw it mentioned here and I think it is something people will be interested in.

Not enough people vote for it.  Only the sites with numbers have enough votes.  If it does end up getting enough votes I wouldn't be surprised if it went straight into the top tier.
