I had 2clip sales for 0.34$ each! And 9 sales of images to get around 1$. After that I deactivated my images and videos  :-[

April was my worst month since December 2011, when I had only 40% of the portfolio I have today

Comparing 2015 to 2016, my income in SS decrease in 12% and sales in 10.7%  :'(

The increase of my port there in 2016 was 10.8% (total of ~3500 files in the port)

Yes, but what was the increase in Shutterstock's TOTAL portfolio? And the market? Those are the interesting numbers.

Hi increasingdifficulty,

Yes, you are totally right. 10% of portfolio increase is too low comparing to SS database increase in 2016. I guess it's the main reason why I experienced this decrease for the first time even if I uploaded more than in previous years.

Cheers

Are your sales good there? I have no sales since 2 months. It never happened to me for years.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Have PP sales for July definitely finished?
« on: September 29, 2016, 03:40 »
My total earnings increased for about 4$ yesterday and I don't have a slightest clue, where is this coming from....I checked PP sales and that hasn't changed.
And this is not the first time. Sometimes my earnings increase and I go back a few months to check my monthly totals and they haven't changed or increased, so I have no idea where is this money coming from....

Same here! I don't like this lack of transparency ???

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!
« on: September 20, 2016, 10:02 »
I like the layout of the new site.

One thing that I would like to know: As there is no category on Adobe site, wouldn't it be a problem for the Folotia search if we index the files on Adobe?

A very good improvement on the file stats would be the total earnings by file  ;D

Cheers!

All other agencies simply tag image as editorial type and do not require special treatment.

The editorial captions are also required by DP, BT and IS.

Pond5 / Re: Pricing on Pond5
« on: September 14, 2016, 02:57 »
I Price my 4k footage 200-250$ and HD -50% of that and I get regular sales with them.
My videos are nothing special. Couple days ago i sold a clip of me driving on a winter day.
A video that anyone could have made for 250$.

Rise your prices and enjoy the money.
Im so tired of people selling nice footage for crazy low prices like 10-50$, when they could get lots more.

You are completely right! P5 is a rare microstock site where contributors can chose their prices. And yet people put the prices very low. I raised my prices and I hope I can see some good results soon (it can't be worst than last month).

I don't have the same experience in FT. My sales there are only around 5% from what I have on SS  :-\

Maybe I don't have the type of images that sell well there. It can also be the quality of the images, but in SS I perform quick well. On FT I have around 1.600 files (half of I have on SS) and I'm around the 7000th position on the general ranking.

Have sold this video more than any other but haven't sold it in quite some time (weeks definitely maybe even months). I've had some strange video stuff on the map before just never this exact combo. I did send an e-mail in to SS about it so we'll see what they say.

This happened to me last month. I saw some video sales and those videos haven't been sold for a long time. I really don't know if it's a bug or something else  ???

Once I wrote them about this kind of issue and they just replied to me saying that the map "is just for fun".

What happens to be very often for videos is that I have a sale, it appears on the map and then, after some period (sometimes days), the same appears again on the map, but no sale is reported.

Did you have a sale for this video in the past days?

Cheers

I received the same email and I have already wrote to ss. This is very sad. After years working with them, I was shocked to receive such a threat for something that I never did!

Newbie Discussion / Re: Shooting editorial - any point?
« on: May 23, 2016, 12:46 »
From my experience in SS:

- I have 10.52% of my port with editorial images
- They make 6.82% of my total earnings

So, for me at least, they sell as almost well as the RF (specially if I exclude my best sellers RF).

I thought SS only sold RF, whether editorial or general. Have I missed something?

When I wrote RF, please read not editorial  :P

« on: April 25, 2016, 09:33 »
But these are stats in the same browser on the same computer. When I looked 1/2 hour ago my earnings page showed two more sales than earnings by date, but just now, earning by date shows two more sales than earningsbut both still show fewer sales overall than I had three hours ago.

Yes, it happens to me too. But even if you are in the same browser, each time you refresh a different server will be targeted. SS does not have a single server. Maybe the discrepancy is also being caused by a backend process they are performing (backup, server migration, etc...).

The most important is what Dumc said, the sales must show up again later on!

I noticed that if I refresh the phone app, some times I have some difference. I guess theirs servers are not syncronized and some are more uptodate them the others.

My Paypal payment is still blocked! Did you guys had to perform any action to unblock it? I replied Paypal in the incident twice and I'm waiting.

I would always keep 2 backups of everything. 2 different external hard drives with the same set of data. 3TB portable hard drives are so cheap these days. Your time is clearly more important than $100.
Wow, buck up for buck up - buck up. Hmmm, funny ;) ;) Do you have time for living? Just kidding ;)

It's very boring and time consuming to back up. But it's worthy! I do the same system with more than one HHD. But there are other automated alternatives, like building a NAS.

Here the classic view was not available for a period. Now it's back, but with a message:

"Our classic search is going away in a few months.
We're continuing to refine our new search experience as we listen to your feedback."

In 2015 I had an average of 2 EL by month.

In 2016 I had only one in 8th January, just before the comission policy change  :-\

4. Concentrate also on the RM direction.

Hello authenticcreations,

Do you suggest not to add RF and only upload images as RM? Do you think that it's OK to have RM in alamy and the same image in microstock or would you avoid that?

Thanks in advance for any advice  :)

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 review times
« on: February 18, 2016, 07:36 »
The only good thing is that they review everything you have in the queue at once...

Unfortunatelly they have different queues for footage and images. I had my photo queue reviewed today, but my videos are still waiting...  :(

General Stock Discussion / Re: 500px beside microstock ?
« on: February 16, 2016, 11:01 »
Oops! Too soon! 500px is not giving up! Another massive $175 sale. 4th sale for this month. It only has 74 pulse, so not a "popular" photo ;)

Congratulations for the sale! Was it an exclusive 500px photo? I'm wondering if I create an exclusive portfolio or if I mix with some microstock stuff I have.

Cheers!

Thanks and no: I don't have exclusive photos there.
And btw, SS is back on top again  :D

I'm starting a portifolio there. Thanks for sharing your experience!
