General Stock Discussion / Re: 123RF- Low Sales
« on: January 10, 2013, 21:21 »
Sales there are a little slower lately, but they seem to be a bit slower on all the sites, at least slower than they were in November and December. But they're already picking up a bit this week over last week. (Except BigStock; they've gone comatose. :P)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Image size?
« on: January 10, 2013, 21:14 »
It's too much work to make different sizes for different sites, except as jsnover noted, a panorama might be too large for a particular site. So they all get the same size from me.

OK. Thanks. Haven't really done much on my profile page yet.

...it works!

Newbie Discussion / Old newbie here
« on: January 07, 2013, 18:22 »
Hi all.

I guess I'm an "old" newbie: been involved with microstock for 7+ years, but new to this forum. At least I think so. I tried to sign up with the screen name I use on most sites except SS -- "Papabear" -- but found it taken. Hmm. Then again, I vaguely remember signing up on a forum years ago and then forgetting it; so that might have been me.  (If not, will the real Papabear please stand up!)

Looks like a good place to drop by regularly. Already I like the format for posting better than on any of the stock sites.

Cheers,
Ken (Papabear; on SS: digigandalf)

...why not directly draw on screen? why limit yourself with ancient graphic tablets...

Are touch-screen PCs up to speed wit the graphics tablets yet? Last time I looked, there weren't any options available that had the pressure sensitivity and other features that the tablets had. Maybe that's changing though.

As for tablet recommendations, I've heard good things about this one, but haven't tried it myself yet. Supposedly it's very comparable to Wacom but at a fraction of the price.

I bought a Monoprice around a year ago for about $30 and used it for less than 2 months. It wasn't that hard to get used to, but the pen felt scratchy and seemed to skip a lot. But the worst thing was, it needed a battery, which lasted no more than a week. Even when storing it as instructed. Big waste of money, just glad it wasn't much!

General Stock Discussion / Re: To Quit or Not to Quit
« on: January 03, 2013, 20:34 »
Everyone has probably felt that way at one time or other (well, maybe not the top earners).

Rather than quit, when you start feeling burnt out by stock, just take a break. Do other photography. Helps keep stock in perspective. Then come back and work some more at it. In the meantime, your portfolios are still earning money--maybe not as much as you'd like, but it's something.
