Symbiostock - General / Weird activity on Symbio
« on: September 01, 2014, 14:52 »

Can someone explain the weird activity on the Symbio forum to me? Why is that happening?

Thank you,

Thank you Ron. FAA  looks interesting!

Thank you Tony I will check out that site

Awesome. Some researching to do!

I am going to wait until I get my payout and delete my store. Made 45 dollar in 13 months. Not worth my time. I am doing better on FAA, which suits my images better. Thanks for the update.

What does FAA stand for?

Thanks Tony Ray . I was also considering zazzle.

Did you ever find a better alternative and better experience else where?

thank you leaf. :D

This helped a lot.

What do you call a website that sells photos  and illustrations? Microstock website? Stock website?

What do you call a website that sells photos, illustrations and footage? Production website? Media website?

I am a little confused and tried to google it. it didn't help.

admin edit: edited the subject to be more descriptive.

Thanks for the reply Leo. You guys are doing an awesome job in here!

I checked out Leo's symbiostock website and have been observing this forum for a while.

I would like to sell my illustrations and photos. Eventually learn videography and sell  footage.

Can you sell footage using Symbiostock?

Thanks indvance

why do you need our help quickly?

Sorry about the title. I forgot to explain the title because I needed to go to complete something.

The reason for the title is because I submitted pieces of work at a big stock site and now I am considering pulling out my work.  But I need to get in contact with the company soon and make a final decision of actually pulling it out. Before submitting my work I was not aware of the option of building my own stock website. I wanted to know if this can actually come to life and work. The search engine is great but I need more info to make a decision. And I have to make the decision very soon before they upload my work.

I hope I make sense. Thanks for the replies

selling your work yourself is great, except that you don't have a boatload of customers knocking on your door.

Maybe I could do both. Just considered that now. But I needed to know if I can actually create site that can function and if I can manage it on my own. Thanks

There's ktools too
Thanks for mentioning it. I found it on google. I will look into it further. Are there any members on the board that use it?

You're right about the artist's share of the sale being so low that in most cases, it's just not workable if you're trying to make a living.  The reason I'm not selling on my own site is because it takes a lot of time and a herculean effort to design and create the site, but the biggest obstacle to me is the marketing that would be required.  I don't want to compete with the large, established sites.  It would be like opening a convenience store and trying to compete with Wal-Mart.  If I had a specialty niche, it might be different.

Because we are finding ourselves in a race to the bottom, I'm moving away from microstock / RF in favor of RM exclusive.

yes. My concern is if I can manage the site on my own site, understand the business side of things. Thanks for pointing out what else to consider.

Gilian and  Microbius --Sorry again about the confusion :-\ My bad

Hi Everyone :D,

I am new. I wish I came across this website sooner.

So I am have been working on graphic illustrations for long time now.  I would like to sell my work. Or should I be saying  "license" my work?

I am considering my options on different stock sites. What's bothering me is that amount of money  that I would receive from the major stock websites. They would be receiving really big dollars and I would get cents. It doesn't seem fair.

This forum is great. I came across discussions that we have the ability to build our own stock websites and sell our own work. So far using the search engine I have come across
WordPress -Sellmedia,

Are there other options out there that you guys can suggest? Any threads I should read?
