Well, P5 has asked me to agree to giving video clips for free. Even after I said no, they continue to ask me to reconsider, saying they would give away 1-4 clips per artist, and that's minimal in their mind.

If we give away our work for free, we would also lose copyright control over our work. We will no longer be able to tell if it was a copyright infringement or not. Even if an agency sells for $1 or less (that's terrible, too), there are paper trails of transaction and license agreement in place.

The particular clip they want to give away was a time lapse from a very unique location. I have said explicitly that I would not permit any of my work to be given away for free.
It is always sad to see one's profession belittled in this way  >:(

They are indeed sold on Shutterstock too, but not at a lower price. We are talking about single purchases, not subscriptions

Recently I got two sales of HD videos, and my commission was $1.06 each. The price listed for the videos on Pond5 is 40. Shouldn't I get at least 40% commission? How is this fair? I thought Pond5 was embracing fairness toward contributors as its core value in opposition to other agencies like Shutterstock. :(

When they come begging on their knees offering lots of sales and a good percentage and no funny business with accounting.

So in other words, never.

Hi! Have anyone got some clues on when will PD submissions open again? My portfolio has been deleted due to their quality assessment process, but I think I could try again with a more accurate selection of my work. Thank you in advance  :)

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy- Tips on getting Sales
« on: September 30, 2014, 10:22 »
Okay, I've tried everything I can think of on how to get better results (sales) on Alamy but nothing seems to work for me.  Any tips on how to keyword or if I should include more information on the other areas?

Thanks

We're selling more images than ever before in our 15 year history so there is plenty of opportunity for revenue with us.

We are very different to microstock so a different strategy is needed. We sell licences from $10 up to $10,000+ but the average price per sale is around $100. You can expect to make fewer sales than you do on MS but for higher value.

You don't mention how many images you have or the type of work you have in your portfolio so it's impossible for us to give you any specific advice but if you want to post a link to your collection here we'd be happy to give you some pointers.

The photographers who do best with us submit well edited work regularly and keyword (relevantly) and thoroughly...

Cheers

i have the same problem, only 4 sales in 2014, nevertheless my images sells very well elsewhere. here is the link to my portfolio: http://www.alamy.com/stock-photography/FF28B93F-E889-44A4-ABD5-C7FBDE2EC00A/1/Dario%20Lo%20Presti.html

am I doing something wrong?

thanks in advance

the strange fact is that my images are well positioned on fotolia with kw in alphabetical order, but not on istock

17
iS used to say it didn't matter.
A few weeks ago, without any announcement or explanation that I saw, they said on upload that keywords should be listed 'in order of importance'.
However, as their system seems to reorder files on arrival in their database (or still did the last time I uploaded), I have no idea whether or how much it matters, or might matter in future.

yeah, i know about Fotolia... but is a pain for me to reorder the kw after uploading or with another software other than lightroom... i'm wondering if is worth it

Hi! does someone know which agencies use keyword order relevance in their search algorithms? and which is the weight of the keyword order among the other factors?

I use lightroom for managing my workflow and, as i learned, there is no way to stop lightroom rearranging in alphabetical order the kw i write in.

Thanks in advance!
