This is strange. I can understand that Leo wants to move on but why drop everything without a notice? symbiostock.org all of a sudden out of the air, I know that costs money to upkeep but I can hardly believe the site is paid per day. Why didn't he give a notice on symbiostock.org that it was closing down and he was stopping?

Strange.

Twitter images now work for me after the update!

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Twitter error code:195
« on: September 05, 2013, 05:20 »
I would like to use the Twitter possibility from the Batch Editor. I select the individual "Tweet Selected Images (1)" and this does work but only if I select the option "Link Only" in the Twitter config.
If I use "Large Preview" and "Minipic Preview" I get the following error:

Error(s)encountered:
code: 195
message: Missing or invalid url parameter

I did search google for this error code, but...
Any ideas?

Thanks for taking your time to clarify my search trouble.

As I was looking for a solution I stumbled over "daves-wordpress-live-search" plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/daves-wordpress-live-search/
I installed it on my site and it looks great and makes searching fun but it is not the solution I was looking for. I have just started uploading images so I haven't thousands of images but with my 100 images it works nice.
Try it here:  http://www.jbstockimages.com/

Ron,
I tested it on your site and the compound search does work great. That's maybe the difference between premium and the open source package.

The thing I don't like is the difference between the keyword "clouds" and "cloud".
On my site the keyword "cloud" doesn't find my "clouds" images and the other way around. To be found I need both keywords for every image. Strange!

You are correct, its the premium version with the updated search. But you can configure the search as you please.

It can search whole words, part words, and title and description, but you can toggle the settings as you please.

Just one note of importance: If you set it to search partial words, for example, sex, it will also return images with essex.

So if I search, with the free open source package, cloud doesn't find clouds images and vice versa. If sex returns essex this trick should work with cloud(s).
With the premium package this does work?

Is their a solution for keyword search? Is it possible to use a different search engine, maybe a WP search plugin?

I mean if I search for "clouds" I think that images with the keyword "cloud" should be found, which doesn't now.
Also compound keywords, which I have a lot, doesn't work as mentioned.

Just want to do things correct.
I submitted the following sitemaps, generated by YOAST, to Webmaster Tools:

http://www.jbstockimages.com/image-sitemap.xml   2013-08-30 20:30

That's what you mean?

BTW, the thumbnail and watermarked images do have captions, description, Focus keyword, etc in the Media Library.

11
So you think it's better to SEO the generated thumbnails and watermarked images.

That means if you have 1000 images you have to SEO every image 3 times. 1x on the image page and thumbnails and watermarked images in Media Library.
That's 3000 times Focus keyword, description, etc.

I just have 100 images uploaded and that took me a couple of weeks due to lack of time. :-[

12
I do mean the watermarked images in the Media Library. They are the images that google sees.

The images in symbiostock_rf_content I SEO offline, this can't be done via Wordpress I think.

13
Thanks I'll add them all.

It's on the edit image area no wonder I couldn't find it.  I was looking for that information on the actual image page.

This ought to be fun to deal with.

Not sure what you guys are talking about. Besides the SEO on the image pages do you also SEO the individual images in the WP "Media Library" folder?

14
I do 3d as well and was thinking about the 3d files in the future for sale.  Only thing I can think of is making them available as zip files but not sure how we could show off extra views of the model or a 360 turn table unless we put them on YouTube or something.

I suppose it can be done with a zip file, not sure though.
To show off the file you could make an animation and images and add it to the 3D file page via "add media".

your photo topics: Landscape, nature, environment, 3D
what you're looking for: I suppose related to my topics. I am adding at a slow pace 3D images and maybe 3D files (if possible).

I doing my best to get my hands on the network thing. I just added symbiostock.info as this seems sensible to me, not sure if I did this correct.
Only 90 images uploaded just now but slowly but sure more will be added.

Happy to be with the team!

Image Sleuth / Re: Used my image by pencil tracing

Thanks again for all the advice!

I have decided to handle this gently, so I wrote a polite email yesterday. Still thinking nothing would happen I was surprised to get a phone call from S-France this morning.

We had a nice chat where she deeply regretted the big mistake she made. She just didn't realize that she would ever have a problem with this. She couldn't afford losing her logo as it was already well-known.
It never came in my mind to go that far. She couldn't come up with a solution so I suggested a case of wine. She'll send me a nice mix of white and red wine!
Isn't that great!!

I think I have gained a nice connection to S-France. It did help that we both could speak Dutch. So, how to turn a bad situation into something nice.  I am pleased!

Be sure to check the Terms and conditions of the agency/ies you have sales of the image. Many agencies forbid use of images as logo. If that applies to the relevant images, point it out if the attorney says you would only be entitled to the normal piddling royalty for an 'artist's reference'.

I have checked that. You are not allowed to make a logo with a standard licence.

^ I believe in general, but may be wrong in the specific instance, that the agency rules about "logos" are about "logos" which would be specifically registered as trademarks. The point being that trademarking an image as a logo would be part way towards claiming ownership. So, for example, the original brilliant Twitter logo by Simon Oxley was probably not technically a logo. Because it was a royalty free vector from when he was with iStockphoto. IIRC.

Many small vineyards often running on very little money will use a design on the labels which though it may superficially look like a logo may not actually be a logo in the sense of being trademarked.

If the wine is any good perhaps you can get her to send you a few crates to make you go away :)

Thank was my thinking. I am not here to ruin a company but our work should also be respected.

Thanks for the comments.

I live in the Netherlands and the winery is in S-France and the lady boss turns out to be Dutch  ::)

For me it is hard to believe that a company makes a logo for their company and labels for their bottles with a stolen image. I was completely wiped out when I found out. I mean you invest a lot of money to build a brand and you do this.

It's going to be hard but as the image is so clearly mine I am going to write them a mail to see if we can settle this. I have no high hopes so if not I'll be making some calls tomorrow for help. I do have an personal insurance but not a company insurance, I'll find out tomorrow if my insurance is ok.

I do have, a few streets down, one of the most well-known attorney office in the country, might try to bump in them on the street  :D

I found an image I sell used as a logo by a French winery. That should be nice news but it isn't. The image has been traced by pencil and used as main part of the logo. It is also to be found on their bottles.

I had contact with her and she wrote me she found the image on Google and weren't able to contact the owner  ???
She sent me the drawing, after I showed her a link to my image, and told me it was her creativity. The logo is not my photo, she says.
I can overlay the two images and it is a perfect copy but only she hand traced it with pencil and paper.

It is so obvious it is my image but I don't know what to do.
I don't feel I like the idea of letting the hounds of the stock company loose to tear this winery apart, what's in it for me. I get my $1.50 and they walk away with loads of money.
I would like to settle it with them, even though it will be hard.

Any advice?

Ok, Happy, happy  :D

Maybe I should not say this but don't use the Sandbox! No, do try it but success rate may not be high.

I was really fed up with Paypal sandbox. I called a friend if he could make a live purchase for $0.01 and that worked great. Within a few seconds we had emails and a box to download the image!

Tested the sandbox one more time, just to be sure, the financial transaction went ok but no mails or a download. No idea why.

Just for the fun I sent him the $0.01 back.  :)
At last I can start building the site. Hurray!

I am having real trouble to get Paypal working. I am near the point of giving up this project.

I have wiped out my site and started all over again, so now only use the defaults, default plugins, default master theme, etc.
Wordpress 3.6 and SS 2.5.6

I made a Paypal Sandbox and started testing. Payments all go through, this works!
After the "thanks for payment" message from Paypal it doesn't return to my site, so I press the Paypal link to return to my " Customer Licence and File Management Area ".

Here I see the message:
 Thank you for your purchase!
Items still in your cart, and not in your download area?
Wait a few seconds and refresh the page. Sometimes paypal takes a few minutes to notify us. If you still have problems, please contact us.

I get no email or no email is sent.
Mail does work on my site and I use the correct mail address.

So in short:
Sandbox payments work. Image is paid for but customer gets no image.
Help   :-[

22
I have the same thing but with Sandbox. No email sent or recieved and no download available for customer.

version 2.5.6
WP 3.6

23
I have the same problem testing Paypal Sandbox. bschell, do you have this working now?

What is supposed to happen?
Does the customer suppose to see a link in the "Customer Licence and File Management Area"? Or do I have to make a download area?

This is what I have:
 Thank you for your purchase!
Items still in your cart, and not in your download area?
Wait a few seconds and refresh the page. Sometimes paypal takes a few minutes to notify us. If you still have problems, please contact us.

Should have read this thread more carefully. Found this by reading the errors and google.

But switching 'WP_DEBUG', true still gives me lot's of errors. Don't know if this is a problem for the functionality, lot's of nav menu warnings:
nav_walker_mobile.php on line 61

I'll just switch off DEBUG  :)

25
I changed line 1645 in wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/network-manager/network-manager.php from

ajt_network_search_all( & $query_list, $this );
to this:
ajt_network_search_all( $query_list, $this );

Have no idea if this is good to do, I suppose it isn't ok  :)

And it works now, but... changing define('WP_DEBUG', false); to 'true' gives me massive errors on screen. See attachment.
Using WP 3.5.2 and are going to upgrade to 3.6.
