General Stock Discussion / Re: Robert Harding

you should know about September sales only "in the month following", that is November...

That's correct. Next month I should receive a sales report, considering that my total net earnings were above GBP 100 (which I assume they would be or I'll be depressed) :)
Good luck! But guess you might be depressed... I joined Robert Harding recently like you and got my first report after last quarter. Half of the sales were for less than 1GBP... Not even 1 big sale. But heard big sales take longer to report, so still have some faith ;) Oh sales report came by traditional post together with a check, need to contact them to change my payout method...

Well, sales for less than 1GBP are numbers of microstock. But at least in microstock you don't have to be exclusive. Also, if the minimum payout is GBP 100, could takes a very long way to reach it.
Anyway, it's strange because many pictures are selled on RH site in a price range for 70 to 590. Since the standard commission for contributors is 30%, you should at least earn 21. By maybe your sells are made by other agencies that marketed RH pictures (Alamy, Fotolia) and so there are other commissions...
I'm really looking to know about Brasilnut sales report... for sure I will not upload anything on RH to earn less than 1GBP!
Had 1 direct sale, rest was through distribution channels. Unfortunately some big distributors, like Getty, do whatever they want and can sell the same photo for a price starting from cents ending on hundreds/thousands... So far to be honest I do not see much difference in prices between premium agencies and microstock...

My girlfriend signed up yesterday and to my surprise she has a new system on her account, her 3 test photos are still under QC so the funcionality was locked, but looks promising. My account is still the old version... Hope they will roll it out to everyone soon...

Anyone having the same issue? It seems to only happen with editorial photos... Yesterday spent couple of hours to put dates in my captions and today all editorial photos rejected with "File Transfer Error -- Please check your file and resubmit."
Makes me want to cry  :-\

1st, sounds like you are editing online?  you'll save a lot of time by adding iptc info once - then resubmitting isn't so hard

I've had this error too, for both ed & non-ed -- between 1 and 10 images in 100 when it happens

s

I use iptc, but as other websites do not recquire dates in caption I enter it manually when submitting on SS, this time was more than 100 photos so took me a longer while... All non editorial I was submitting in the same time went through fine I believe, some of them are not showing on the website still, which is weird...

5
In my case all non-editorial photos in the same submission went through, but only ones marked as editorial got this error...

I also got rejected. "Many thanks for your interest youve got some great work however we are not looking to take on editorial content at this point". I was hoping Alamy would be the best place to sell my editorial videos, but they are not interested at all in editorial.

I got 30 pounds by the begining of the month. Claimed for two publications, one in magazine, the other in the book.

I'm ok if they sell my videos for 15 cents as long as I will be getting around 20 dollars per download ;D

SS and Pond5 are the best for me. Istock was good in the begining of the year, even outperforming SS, but after their changes I haven't had even one sale and I also stopped uploading there, because their new pricing is ridiculous...

How are you doing on ClipCanvas? After almost a year of waiting I got accepted as a contributor there, but the site looks like a bit mess, on one page they say I can set up my own pricing and royalty is 50%, on the other page I had to accept an agreement 40% and fixed price $78. I cannot find any CSV keyword upload option, do they have it? I also heard that they were having some financial problem.

Anyone on Clipdealer?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stockbo

I had my very first sale 18th of August:
https://stockbo.com/17763
medium size - $5 for me :)

I got today "Partner Program Recoupment details". It seems like all sales I made with a royalty higher than 0,28(image packs, extended licenses) were cut down to 0,28. It is very strange!!!

General Stock Discussion / Re: January results
« on: February 01, 2014, 07:34 »
My earnings are quite stable since October 2013. January a little down compared to my BME, but after iStock PP can beat it.

Best earners:
1. Shutterstock RPD 0,58
2. Fotolia RPD 0,52
3. 123RF RPD 0,53
4. Istock RPD 0,75 - probably will go up to 2nd place after PP
5. Dreamstime RPD 0,98 - strange, cause normally I get only subscriptions here

Nobody know them?  LOL....I suspect this is a personal vendetta of some sort.  You do realize that Alfonso (CEO of AGE) is president of CEPIC?

I agree with Ron, if they are so well know, why don't they appear nowhere ? According to Wikipedia, the president of the Cepic is    Christina Vaughan not Alfredo...

All intelligent people know that Wikipedia is not the best source of reliable information.

not a footage sale but still very very poor (photo sale from today)

You are still very lucky. Most of my sales on Dreamstime are subscription downloads...

$2 from 285 old files :P Stockxpert was my 3rd best earner after Istock and SS when I was starting. It's a pity Getty put the site down... :(

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock PP has started for November
« on: December 29, 2013, 17:35 »
Looks like it's over! 65% down compared to Oct PP $. It's obvious that Nov PP stats are fake (read cheating). Just can't go 50-70% down to everyone overnight. Strange very very strange situation >:(

For me 44% down, but in October I had one PP extended license and one crazy day with 81 PP sales(seems like someone bought one entire set from La Palma island) when normally I have 5-20 PP sales/day. I don't see such a fall in sales... and see it rather stable.

Next steps:
1. Remove restriction on structured caption/description
2. Auto-transfer to editorial when image when image seems to fit criteria (like few other sites do)

Melastmohican - thanks.  Can you explain the 2nd bullet in more detail?  Examples?

Thanks!

Scott

Editorial caption is a lot of pain. There are sites like 123RF, Dreamstime, Lori.ru that move suitable images to editorial, when reviewing submitted content and do not require special caption for that. You could extract the date from metadata.

Try to implement sth like this: when submitting files make the checkbox "If submitted image fails approval to standard RF collection, I agree to review it for Editorial collection".

Simple? Would be a pain saver. If your editorial painful caption is a must you could propose an universal caption that would be accepted to both collections.

You could even go further and connect OFFSET with Shutterstock. Implement a distribution to both sites when making submission, for example making a checkbox "For your consideration to OFFSET, OFFSET Editorial, Shutterstock, Shutterstock Editorial Collections." Your editors would pick up the most suitable photos to each of these collections. It would be a nice thing to maximize the potential of each collection so that our revenue. In my opinion there are a lot of photos on Shutterstock that could go up to OFFSET and probably a lot of submissions to OFFSET that are rejected, but would be ideal for microstock.

Personally, I have many doubts whether to put my travel photos to standard RF or Editorial, so that I submit all photos to standard RF first and resubmit the ones that failed approval to Editorial. In that way most of my photos are accepted, but it takes time... I would be happy to have some of my photos distributed in higher prices. Automatic selection to OFFSET should be optional so that selection to Editorial(in case someone would like to place his photos only in microstock), but I would opt-in for sure!

Scott, please think about it ;)

iStockPhoto.com / Re: November and December sales
« on: December 19, 2013, 18:41 »
I have never had a Getty Images sale on iStock. Is it only for exclusive images or Vetta or sth?

24
Pictures of the atomium can not be used as RF see more info on their site http://atomium.be/AuthorsRights.aspx?lang=en

"The rights are managed by SABAM and by Atomium asbl, both appointed by Mr Andr Waterkeyn, in his lifetime, and now by his trustees. Consequently, any use of the image of the Atomium must be submitted to the organisation before it is published.

Prices depend on whether it is to be used for a cultural, educational or commercial purpose."

But uploading to stock site is not publishing, is it? What I mean, if someone bought my photo, let's say want to use it to make a postcard, he is the one that should ask the organisation for permission before it is published, is he? If he doesn't do this, he is the one making legal issues, not me, am I right? Should I delete my photos from the sites that accepted it as a regular RF?

Oh, sorry... I wanted to put it in General and by mistake posted in Symbiostock-General. Could someone move it, please?

EDIT: Thanks for moving my topic  :)
