"But my original question is whether there is a business in paying to e.g. Midjourney to then 10 cents on a picture?"

I am not sure you will recover the 10 cents an image. But you will earn knowledge of the simple AI that is available now. The AI will clearly get better and better. If you have some knowledge of it I think the 10 cents fee is a bargain... I for one don't like the AI for our future but none of us are going to stop it. Not only for our images but how about the Wall Street Stock Market. If everyone ask AI what are the most likely stocks to go up in the near future. Then you will only have winners. Without losers I am not sure what Wall street future will be.

I still upload a few images each month. Clearly my income from stock has decreased a lot in the last 17 years. When I first started I could sell 100-200 images a day. Now if I get sells on 5-10 images a day that is a good day. Some days this year I have received zero sales. This is my first year to get zero sales on any given day. So is it worth it....not sure...But I still enjoy the thought that someone somewhere in the world is using and publishing one of my images.

Not sure what software is best. I would guess Adobe Photoshop AI when it is truly ready for public will be the one. Time will tell. Many of you on this site may not agree but I think AI will be the way. It may be a hybrid of you putting your image in and having it make you a dozen different images. The AI I have seen is really amazing on the creative use of AI. On some of the AI images the details like hands sometime have issues. Just in the few months I have been playing with AI I can see software improvements. I think this will be like when digital took over film. Many of us did not like digital at first but now all of use use digital...... AI baby. That is the future.

Just got a few of my AI images approved from Adobe. It took nearly six weeks to get six out of 110 images approved. Good news some of the six are selling. The rest of my images are still waiting in the box for approval.

Twenty days and holding on reviewers for me on AI. This is what Adobe say...."Thank you for your submission, your files will be reviewed by the moderation team within the next few days"...Question to the group. Has anyone had their AI approved and how much time was involved. Thanks, Scott

Anyone uploading AI images to Adobe and it is taking a very long time to get approved... 13 days for me on some images.

If you are uploading AI to Adobe. Is it taking a very long time to get approved ?

For Real....The smart phone is still just not good enough. I will use it if I have no other camera. For me maybe 30 % of the sites will take the small images from the phone. Now for video most all the sites will take the phone video. The video is for most of the time if in good light very good quality.

Good photos sell, bad photos don't...I have good photo's from 15 years ago that sell today and bad photos that never sell. I have bad photos that I shot yesterday that most likely will never sell. Most of us know what is good and most likely will sell. I still make good walking around money from stock. I still have fun with stock. When the magic of a good photo happens it always puts a smile on my face. It is really easy to shot bad photos and really hard to shot good one... We all became photographers to show our work to the world. That is what stock dose , you just might publish ever once in a while a good photo to the world. I am a photographer and will always be a photographer, how about you....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Idea, don't make fun
« on: February 11, 2021, 12:30 »
Uncle Pete I like the idea of being paid in gold but hard to ship gold. Yes Bite coin is very risky but as our stock royalties shrink it is  little risk to our bottom line at this point. If bite coin goes up and you don't spend it you might make some real money . Then again if it goes down we lose our sorry photo stock royalties.

Or just take your royalty payment and buy bitcoin?  Am I missing something?
Sean you are correct you could buy bitcoin yourself but if it were an option, other form of payment it just would save you a step. With PayPal and Pioneer and the other forms of payment you pay a fee for using their services, Not sure if there would be a fee for Bitcoin. Don't think there would be any international exchange rate fees also.

With the price of royalties falling from ALL stock sites. Here is a idea that just might make your payments go up. Now before you make fun of me have an open mind to this. I do hope Mat is reading this from Adobe as this would be a first for Adobe and would get them a lot of publicity which might move Adobe Wall Street stock price up. Have an option for payment in Bit Coin. From the stock contributor side what do we have to lose when so many stock sites are paying 10 cents a sell. Yes Bit coin is very volatile but that can also work in your favor. I for one would take the Bit Coin for payment in 2021.  if this was 2007 no I would not take it as we all made a lot more money in Stock at that time. Adobe what do you think ?

General Stock Discussion / Claymon Countdown
« on: January 29, 2021, 12:28 »
Today at 3-4 ET   Jon Oringer from Shutter Stock will be on Fox Business News interviewed by Jill Claymon. I wonder if he will talk about the great new news for contributors ?

I have never filled out the poll but it is pretty much spot on for my sales. I have viewed it for years and it has been pretty much correct for my sales for many years. So yes at least for me it is very much reality.

19
Not to be ugly but their photos are very simple and very, very average. I would rate what I looked
at their online site and give them a 3 on a 10 scale. Maybe that is the way to go....Clearly what I am doing is not working at this present time.  I do hope they are making lots of sales.

20
Im really loving my $4 sales days now.

Sean you are living good. My sales days now are 80 cents on SS. Soon we will get the free Biden phones and free money for all each and ever week. Let the good times roll. Reparation's for all Americans. No man/person shall go with out a new Cadillac. Sorry you can't say the word Man anymore. Person I guess.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stupid Question?
« on: January 02, 2021, 12:58 »
I put them on both. Not really sure it takes sales away from SS. Big Stock sales are low but I get a few sales most days.

22
The seller and the buyer can be sued for misuse of photos. Even if buy is at no fault they can still be held liable. The good news most photographers that I know are broke. It is really hard to get money out of a broke person. Then if the buyer has money and assets that is were the lawyers will go. Then the buyer can sue the photographer but again if photographer is broke , hard to money out of a broke person.

Newbie Discussion / Re: 1099 Taxes based on payout or earnings?
« on: December 27, 2020, 13:32 »
Mat is this something new. I may be incorrect, as my wife says I am most of the time. I thought in past years I  was only charged taxes on what I received payments for in that year. I thought money not collected that year was taxed deferred to next year or until I cashed it out ??

24
If the average price for SS sells was 3.55 per image. What was your average per sale ?  Maybe 5% of 3.55......????

25
Nearly 2 months after requesting a check payout I finally got it last week.
Yes this happened to me 10 years ago or so....Never ask for a check. It will take lots of time. Not only did it take a couple of months for me to get check, but worse because  Canstock is based in Canada my bank charged me 200 bucks to cash check as I am in  USA.... Always do PayPal or some form like that....
