Hi all,

Now sure if I just don't see the option or it doesn't exist anymore, but how do I edit my keywords with published images?
I also can't find a way to delete images :-[

Please, help!

Thanks

General Stock Discussion / Re: AUGUST SALES
« on: August 21, 2017, 09:21 »
Did anything happen to Fotolia this past week? I mean in addition to "It's August"?
They were good the whole summer for me, doing better than SS at certain periods and then suddenly silence :(

I get most of my sales while I sleep, but that's because I sleep in Asia and most of my sales come from Americas ;)

We should go for drinks!

;D If I'm not mistaken you're in Cambodia, well i'm a couple of thousand km away ;)

Suddenly much higher rpd than in May (more or less the same # of downloads but twice more in $), and very few "tiny" sales this month, hm

Ok, I see, thank you all!
They changed the date for the payment a couple of times, but now as the balance went back to 0$ I assume they are going to pay :D But I didn't get any congratulations letter from them..

One more question about the Alamy payment - my cleared balance got back to 0 (they promised to pay on July 3). However the money is not on my Paypal yet - does it take a while to appear on the Paypal?
Thank you

  - I used to have one buyer (i think he was one of my followers) from the north of Mexico, who would stop by nearly everyday to buy a few photos from the same North of Mexico series, actually even buying same photos over and over again, they shopped in my port for about half a year at least. not sure why they needed to license the same photos and who they were, but I miss them ;D

Have you ever thought about doing a google reverse search(or Tineye)  on those images and trying to contact that buyer directly? You would effectively cut out the agency and earn 100% of the commission and potentially commissioned work.

nope, never thought of it actually..

I'll share my numbers too then (they are on a small side though :D

Last summer I got well over 200 dls a month and I thought it was good because i had 300 something photos in my port, my rpd was between 50 cents to 1 usd.
Now I've got 580 images (and 4 clips) and I sold only about 150 images in May  :( my rpd was above 1$ though in May due to a few nice sales, but still... it doesn't look like it's going to be better in June.

But there are a few things that changed for me over the last year:
- I used to have one buyer (i think he was one of my followers) from the north of Mexico, who would stop by nearly everyday to buy a few photos from the same North of Mexico series, actually even buying same photos over and over again, they shopped in my port for about half a year at least. not sure why they needed to license the same photos and who they were, but I miss them ;D
- last April when there was a huge offshore scandal in Panama, I uploaded a series of about 10 images from Panama city, mostly nightscapes, they sold everyday, and around autumn it kind of stopped.. And these are not my only bestsellers that stopped selling.
- I used to sell more series (until this last winter I think) - not sure how you call it, but when a buyer gets several of your photos at once? It happened a lot before and then something changed in the search I guess and I don't see it happening as often.

So, I lost the buyer, I lost some of my all time bestsellers and haven't uploaded anything that would make up for it, boo boo boo

Good start to the month of Thursday and Friday. I had a terrible day on Saturday though, but there was a double shadow-transit of Jupiter from Io and Ganymede... so that would explain it. Things seem to be back to normal now.

 ;D ;D

I had another Monday like Sunday :( I mean SS, but yes other agencies are slow too.
My weekend was actually pretty good

Somehow managed to become my BME on SS (2 years submitting) - I was lucky to get several big sales there (the biggest was 80$) which makes a difference as I have a small port.
FT was good
10$ on BS which was good for BS ;)
DT  - I didn't have a single sale for 2 months, wrote to the support just out of curiosity, they said I should've uploaded more, but then the sales came back ;D
123 was the worst performer of my agencies

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy- Any success??
« on: May 24, 2017, 23:06 »
After a year plus with Alamy they started to throw rare but attractive sales at me (between 40-80$ each, gross), better than what I get at dt, 123 and BS anyway. I have about 550 files (250 are with "poor discoverability"), more zooms lately and my ctr is higher than before, although i'm not sure whether it affects anything

i am afraid i wont exceed 10 downloads today. its that bad

How many files do you have at SS?

I expected for sales of the second week of May to get back to normal, but my Monday was even worse than the last weekend and the 1st of May. Tuesday was slow too, saved by my first ever video sale (I have only 4 unedited embarassing clips in my port :D).

I don't think its search algorithms its more simple the current flood of new images means its very hard to anything new to get noticed and start to climb the ratings. The only way this could change is a stricter review policy or a reduction of contributors bored with low returns.....

The flood started a while ago, but in winter the new files still sold pretty well until a couple of months ago, if i'm not mistaken. And like this every few months, so I'd say it's both ;)

I don't mind the critique, but you're right, and I'm well aware of my level, kind of working on it ;D

Me too, always improving is the key! :)

Do you post-process your images because many seem like they just came straight of the camera on JPEG. Some could do some with lighting adjustments, especially since the scenes are generally well-lit.

I do post process them, it's just I suck in this too apparently ;D ;D

I normally don't submit a lot, maybe it'd be better to just hold off until they switch the search again and then submit all in bulk?

I do like the range of your images of markets and local people. In particular, it's great that you are getting portraits of local people which is something I should be doing more. Keep doing that.

You didn't ask for a critique, but I just think that, in my humble opinion, many of the shots look like snapshots. I can see that often the crops are too tight and you're cutting out key elements.

I don't mind the critique, but you're right, and I'm well aware of my level, kind of working on it ;D

I just marked 2 years with Shutterstock and I know that when the new sells at SS my new stuff sells well too, then it's back to "old stuff" mode and hardly anything I submit sells quick enough...

Just wondering does it even make sense to upload with such a terrible performance by the new content?
