Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock just became iStock 2.0

Starting contributors will gets less, as minimum was 20% (up to $80) in lifetime, now it will be 15%.

Well top agencies and biggest contributors and photo/videa farms with selling more than 2500-25000 will get 35% and 25000+ sells even 40%. But not that easy to get there, as they split foto & video. You want to get 40% for both? You have to sell 50.000+ together 25k+ photo and 25k+ video each year.

I am quite angry because of this. I will get less for photos 25% instead of 28% and 15% instead of 30% for video.

Reset every year instead of keeping some average, or floating average for last 12 months is extremly nasty. So every January Shutterstock will get more many even from biggest contributors and pay you minimum for first sells.

Do you have paid free plan or paid? Cause free has 33 submission per month. You can upload more, but sumbit only 33 per 30 days.

MicrostockSubmitter / When free tarif reset submissions?
« on: October 05, 2017, 12:00 »
I am using stocksubmitter first month from September, I submitted about 30 photos. In August I tried to send other 6 photos, but I am over limit and it tells me wait 30 days? Does it means in free tarif I have to send all possible images and then I have to wait always 30 days? Does it not reset counter every month? Is this same for paid tarif? I am quite confused. My expectation was 33 submissions per each month like September 33, October 33 etc.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Help me to choose my first DSLR
« on: October 13, 2015, 16:39 »
sooner or later you will uploading more, then  rejection comes, noise can be problematic .   you need shallow depth of field, sharpness, colors,...

buy good 50mm lens also.

Well 50mm lens could be good for portrait and because is cheap. But rest is not true. He is not shooting sport, fast movement in bad light, wild animals. Almost everything he described to shoot is possible capture easily from tripod or with aditional lights, reflection etc. So ISO and noise will be not problem. Dept of field, sharpness and colors are good on all cameras he noticed. Pro equipement does shooting a little easier sometimes, but not always and more important are ideas and hands that holding camera ;)

Nikon D7000 is great camera, much more better then 3000 series (2 lvls higher). Not sure about Canon as I am shooting with Nikon. Main question is, do you have people around you (family, friends etc.) more Nikon or Canon? Can you borrow some equipement from them? If so, do they have Nikons or Canons? Because Nikon and Canon quality is +- same. Just need to choose one system, based on what people have around you so you can share/borrow some equipement. also someone can be a little more comfortable with one brand controls, someone with other. Maybe go to shop, try them in hand and maybe you will choose Nikon vs Canon quite quicly. Than choose model you can buy.

It really depends what are you selling, if illustration, photos or video. For statistics I am using my spreadsheet, it's free for download http://microstocktools.com/excel-statistics-microstock/, feel free to use it if you like it. Based on this, in this year

Shutterstock: 45,39 % of income
iStock: 16,73 %
Fotolia: 15,44 %
Rest of microstocks I am using is between 3-5,6 %
