Bigstock.com / Re: How Much I can Make with 500 images
« on: July 19, 2015, 18:58 »
With 500 photos you make a money - but just a small one.

I started 3 month ago with stock and now just have around 20 - 100 photos online - but that are the numbers for 13 agencies now.
I am not in a rush with earning, I do this thing slowly - maybe I will upload 200-300 photos a year, but I will do this constantly over the next years and if the market isn't going down the drain totally I will earn some money each month in about 3-5 years from now.

If you need to earn money fast better go work in an office :-)

As iStock seems not to cooperate with picworkflowI used DeepMeta now - but why should I install a separate software for that if a FTP account is common for all other agencies?
Some agencies really know how to **** people :-(

Luckily from 70 uploaded pictures 62 are already accepted - maybe I'm a genius hehehe ;)

Shutterstock is very strict - it took me 5 attemps unless I was accepted.
On other sites like iStock I was accepted immediately and also my first uploaded pic was accepted directly.

When I started I tried to enhance my images with lightroom, sharpen them and work on the lighting settings.
Most of those pictures were rejected because of technical reasons.
Then I changed and now leave my images mostly unaltered - and most of them get directly accepted.
For me this shows that if you get the original shot right you have no trouble later :-)

As I use picworkflow for my workflow I don't see any benefit for using DeepMeta - I can use the FTP upload instead if picworkflow wouldn't be supported.

I am new to iStock, just recently I got approved.

After the approval I thought that I can use picworkflow for uploading so on Thursday last week I added all 73 pictures to the queque and let it run.
After picworkflow finished I only found 1 file on iStock - the 72 others were rejected with "Upload failed - Your submitter account at iStockphoto may not be approved".

I don't find any information on iStock about uploading limits after approval
There's no email address visible for customer support - the one I found was for tax inquireies and they only answered me by giving the hopefully correct email.

As I like to upload my pictures I like to aks here if someone can explain the mystery of uploading after approval to me  :-)

Hi all,
I am quite new in microstock business but even my portfolio is more like mainstream (landscape, holiday, travel) I made it already into the "big earners" with some dozens pictures.

I also learned that uploading and keywording to 12 agencies is a lot of work - so I will use picworkflow soon to reduce my workload.

There comes my question now - there are so many so called "low earner" sites in their portfolio that I ask myself if it's woth the effort registering to them and uploading there too. I would go from 12 to 40+ agencies - but how about my earnings?

I am focussed on landscape/tourism like fotos from the philippines - maybe in next year I can also look into specialising to get more content people look for - but I will maybe upload 200+ pictures a year.
So how about my workload compared to my earnings on those "low earners"?

Ok I can do it and then tell my experiences in 3 years ;) but maybe some of you already have done this and can advise me.

My goal is to earn maybe 250$/month in 3+ years from now.

I am also new to the scene, but my first batch of 70+ pictures is already good accepted at 12 agencies.
I also do mostly travel and landscape but I found one big difference in my pictures from the mass of others - if I enter "Philippines" or "Tropical beach" as a keyword I get lots of photoshopped pictures with colours like a psychedelic movie.
So formyself I can say I found my "niche" with producing "real world" images.

I am now at 12 agencies and will expand to around 25-30 - then I will look up my sales until end of 2016 to see where I have my "market".

My goal is to have 200$ every month in maybe 3 years from now.

Funny that I have 93 at 123RF - because I accidentially uploaded some twice and got them approved :-)

On may 14 I uploaded 82 pictures at clipdealer - 2 days ago I asked their support to check because they are still in "uploaded" status thus waiting to be released for editing.

Till now I not get an answer and my pictures are still not released.

Is clipdealer releasing pictures only once a year or what ?  ;-)

My "best"  rejection just 2 days ago:

- uploaded around 10 iceberg pictures to SS
- used only the keywords from SS' own keyword guessing tool
- get all 10 rejected because "too many irrelevant keywords"

maybe they test some kind of new artificial intelligence there ...

Hi all,

I am new to the stock agency market but happiely I also have already 24 images at shutterstock :-)

My question is about street fotographie - because I often shoot at festivals in the philippines. So I have many people visible on the pictures, mostly the artists/dancers performing.

I know about "model releases" - but if a group of 100 people is on my picture how to do that MR ?

So that's my question - how to deal with those kind of shootings with the agencies?
The attached picture is only a basic shoot with my cellphone and just gives an example.
