Software / Re: Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan and Lightroom Problems
« on: December 04, 2015, 14:28 »
Is anyone running Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan and using Lightroom. Last year I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan when it came out and it was not compatible with Lightroom 4 and PS CS5. My entire system went down. I had to restore my Mac back to its original operating system and I have not upgraded to the newer OSX. This bothers me because I would like to be using Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan but I need my Adobe Software to work.

Thanks

This is a known issue with both Apple and Adobe. I have several hours invested in talking with both companies tech support. It is an Apple El Capitan issue. Bridge and Lightroom are both affected. The last message received from Adobe is they are waiting for Apple to upgrade El Capitan OS.

El Capitan is a crippled OS.

Now we are getting somewhere. At least you received an answer. Ill go do the same. What is screwy is their catch-all replies are nonsense in so many cases.

Hi, Rod. My sentiments exactly. Thanks for starting this thread.

On my website where I now only license images as RM I got a $450 sale a couple days ago. And 100% of $450.

I understand the idea of making it easier for buyers to buy. To make more sales. But is the end result really more money in the pocket of contributors?

Paulie, Would love to see your site. I'm busy reserving URL names, planning etc. Thanks.

Ditto. TIA

Adobe Stock / Video on Fotolia

Question - what is the time range for submitting video clips to Fotolia? Are you submitting 10 second max? 15? 20? or more.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Resubmitting Rejected Content
« on: September 08, 2015, 18:19 »
I've done that. Re-processed image in PS that looked much better then the first time.
Do they accept two differently processed versions of same image?

Yes, that can happen.  When resubmitting an improved version, make sure that the new one gets approved before deleting the old one.  In that case you will have two versions of the same one until you delete the old one.

A few years ago I noticed that I had submitted some with a wrong color profile.  I prepared a bunch of improved ones and resubmitted them with a note that they were the same as previously accepted images just with an improved color profile.  I was surprised when some of them were rejected for focus, lighting or other reasons, even though they were fine and sold OK even though the color was slightly off.  I had assumed that improved versions of previously accepted images also would be accepted, but that was naive.  I was glad I had not deleted the original ones first.  After that I decided resubmitting improved versions was too much trouble and not worth the effort.

Yesterday, I had a rejected image for the reason of data, keywords, or keywords that did not fit the image. So, I was upset enough to go ahead and delete from the FT site before resubmitting. Now, when resubmitting, I have to rebuild the keywords. Not too big of an issue. BTW, they are all relevant and accurate. I should have waited to delete in order to save a few steps.

Its a lesson I won't forget.

I just don't see how the subscription plan can NOT ultimately lead to stagnation and overcharging.  It's a classic cash cow situation.

It's also a great business model for Adobe. Futuristic.

Hi All,
This one is my image on pond5 & client purchased last night. They want me to give them the source file without any additional cost. Can you suggest what we should do?

Regards!
Tan

Your answer should be no. Simply no. How did the client get to you in the first place?

I think they meant over a lifetime it would add up.  At least they can get a half a bagel with the savings every month!

So you save $24. Lifetime, no possible way.

I would think at 450 years old a property release is mandatory. It is art, therefore, intellectual property. What's the big deal? Get a release to protect yourself. After all, that is the ONLY reason for obtaining a release. Don't tell me the release applies to other entities. The others are riding on your coat tails. You should get into the frame of mind that the model release protects YOU. The others count only if you make the decision to include them to.

best,

CEC

General Stock Discussion / Re: Scott Braut Moves To Adobe

Sounds like a very very smart move on Adobe's part. Badmouthing change gets us nowhere. I have the faith in Adobe management.

Nothing wrong with Nikon service. Expectations enter the equation. Just be a little patient. Stick with the Nikon due to the fact you already have experience with it. D810 is the superior product. I have owned one since they came out. Stick with Nikkor glass or upgrade to Zeiss. The 50 mm Planar is a perfect combination for go to everyday shooting. :)
All the best,
cec

. . .  And that's where this forum could have been helpful instead of jumping on the 'lecturing the newbie' bandwagon.

Rather than mentioning anything about getting rich or doing so quickly, s/he merely expressed curiosity about trying it out to see what the experience would be like.

Good words, thanks. I'm a newby here and wanting to learn. You post is right on target IMHO.
