I remember well, when i stock started the whole sh* people here were warning that other agencies will follow if contributors stick to istock. How right they were! And yes other followed as Alamy etc. and now shutterstock. And this will go on if people continue to contribute under these inaceptable conditions.

Anyway my account is completely deleted not only suspended.!

its always the same and will always be the same. i left i stock and 123rf and I am leaving shutterstock now.

Complains are senseless, they do what the want. Only actions count.

I am not the slave of Stock agencies.

Sorry if this had already been covered.

I'm reading the legal agreements. As far as I understand stocksy is a cooperative with contributors applying for membership with Stakeholder Group C.

What I like to know is how much / how far contributors are held liable. If there were any financial problems or bankrupt are Stakeholders Group C held responsible for liablity of the cooperative?

Generally, (in most countries), being a shareholder in a Cooperative means liability is limited to the value of your shares and, as you would only own one share, it would be very limited, and certainly not cost-effective for anyone to pursue you anyway. In the event of the holding company going bankrupt, your share would be worthless , so liability = zero.

I'd be glad if Stocksy could confirm my understanding here to be correct?

Yes at least in Germany this is true for a "stock company" (Aktiengesellschaft). Concerning a cooperative german rules are different. Normally all members of a cooperative are liable with their personal assets unless there is a written agreement that they are not made responsible. I'm not a native english speaker, if this passage appears somewhere at stocksys legal agreements I'd appreciate someone ponting me to them.

Anyway it's a good idea if Stocksy can clarify on this.

General Stock Discussion / Re: RF editorial, RM and ?
« on: August 26, 2017, 06:18 »
sorry I didn't intend any game but didn't want to complicate things even more.

Meanwhile I stepped back from my application because I don't understand what they are doing.
The german agency is imago.

I had a couple of phone calls with them getting information but finally what was written and what was said on phone wasn't the same - as far as I understood it though.
One of several issues is that there is no transparent pricing system. Obviously they negotiate prices with clients. So it's up to me guessing to what prices my images are sold. They gave me a sort of vague idea on phone but nothing written not even on their web site. As the minimal pay out is 250 it may for someone starting at the agency take at least a year before getting any information about which images were sold for what price.

Another point is the question as what they sell RM or RF. Reading the general business terms I think they sell RM but I never got a precise and definite answer to my question. Just the information on phone "neither RM nor RF". welllllllll......

boiled down unfortunately very very confusing and I decided to leave it.

has anyone worked or is working with imago?

as I said I asked, they don't give access to terms for clients  :o the same goes for prices, they don't reveal their price system for clients
Which agency?
Why would you want to join them?

I don't want to make the name public, well I want to join to sell images, they appear in quite some magasines, newspapers  etc. but I have really a problem understanding their system because information is lacking

any idea concerning RF, RM and?

General Stock Discussion / RF editorial, RM and ?

Hi  :)

I recently applied to contribute to a photo agency which sells only editorial images.

There are a couple of things I don't understand and ask for your support:

When asking if they sell their images as RFeditorial or RM they said 'neither'.
I don't get that. As there are no information about licenses for clients on their website I can't go into that further.

I mean this is an issue because I can't upload RF images at one agency as RM to another and vice versa.

My question is if images aren't sold neither as RF editorial nor RM how are they sold then?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I really don't know

Fascinating. It seems that bots already create and upload files which are later inspected by other bots.
I hope they will soon introduce also bots buying my files, because human buyers have not been very reliable recently.

:)  thank you for the big laugh  :)

It looks like iStock and Getty get hated on pretty hard here... but doesn't anyone think this might be a change for the better?  A one month inconvenience and transition to ESP and they might just be creating a more user friendly interface.  Maybe I'm just hoping here...

Hope dies last ...

got a new mail  :o ::)

Weve announced some big changes in the past few weeks so we thought it would be a good idea to step back and address some common questions we are hearing from you.

Exclusive vs. Non-Exclusive

We value your non-exclusive content and we believe that iStock can play an important part of your revenue mix if you are uploading quality imagery.

Were also open about our desire for exclusive content. From January 3rd well have a new exclusive application process which no longer requires a minimum number of downloads or an acceptance ratio it will just be subject to editor review and that you meet the conditions of the Exclusive ASA.

Minimum Payments for Subscriptions

There has been a lot of talk about the minimum payments under the new price per file download rates. Please keep in mind that:

You will enjoy higher royalty payments than you currently receive from subscriptions where customers have lower utilization, with no maximum payments (unlike under the previous system).

Full utilization of high volume subscription offerings are rare.

Customer Utilization of Subscriptions

The number of files downloaded per subscription differs from customer to customer and is highly dependent on the type of subscription they have.

For the most part, the higher the allowed number of downloads in a subscription, the lower the utilization.

However, the lower download subs (like our 10 download per month products) have a much higher price per file so even though these subs have higher utilization, you will see higher royalties, on average, from those subscriptions.

There have been questions about how we calculate annual subscriptions and subscriptions where there are rollover downloads.

All subscriptions are calculated on a monthly basis based on the monthly price paid for that subscription and the number of downloads made against it in that given month, including any rollover downloads.

This means if a subscription has a low utilization in a particular month it will result in a higher price per file for those files in that month. In a subsequent month the roll over could lead to a high utilization and a lower price per file for those files.

Statements and Stats

With the move to the Getty Images royalty platform we are splitting file performance into two very distinct parts:

Licenses and royalties will be reported on the 20th of the month after the month in which the transactions take place and will be paid on the 25th of that month. The statement is static but the data is exportable in PDF or TXT formats. You will see additional detail on subscription payments made via gettyimages.com on these new statements, increasing transparency.

Stats will be shown in a new interface via ESP from January, which will give you the real time data you need on downloads and other customer interactions.

ESP

Our new submission platform will significantly improve time to market! ESP brings:

    Batch submissions.

An improved workflow which allows you to fix issues in the existing submission rather than needing to resubmit from scratch.

A brand new editing process for inspectors which will be far more efficient.

The move to ESP and the Unification project in general is a very significant investment in the future of the company. It will get your content to customers quicker so that you can concentrate on creating more great work.

In order to reflect the new process that ESP provides, we have updated the ASA. The changes will come in to effect on December 1.

Summary

To continue to be competitive in the market we must attract and retain the best content.
To this end we are:

Paying out more royalties to contributors overall.

Investing in our contributor tools and upload platform.

Bringing more transparency to royalty statements.

We hope you continue to choose to upload your work to iStock and benefit in all of these investments.

Many thanks

The iStock team

Newbie Discussion / Re: similar images
« on: November 15, 2016, 09:17 »
Hello everyone,

I am a newbie in stock photography and I am realy curious if you can help me with the problem I have on Adobe stock regarding similar images  :(

how are these images similar...I understand that the background is the same but the product is different and what makes me wonder is why do they reject both of them because of similarity ?

It's all up to reviewer, that one definitely wasn't Italian :) If he or she is holding a pack of potato chips and Coca-Cola can while reviewing... Well, it's all the same pasta then, not fettuccine or tagliolini :) Try uploading similar images in several days, Fotolia has very short review times and it's easier that writing emails to them about incorrect reviews.
Nice pictures by the way.

writing e mails about incorrect refusals because of similarity is a mess. Meanwhile I insist, that they tell me to which image a refused one might be similar. (Count days before you get that issue settled). Before I get that information - if I get it at all - I have to write countless e mails always getting a standard blabla reply. Anyway they often refuse because of similarity although there aren't any similar ones.  BTW similarity refers to images of the contibutor not to all fotolia images. If that were the case we could stop uploading anyway.
Be careful about reuploading. I don't do that. They easily suspend accounts for similarity.
