DepositPhotos / Re: Suspicious email« on: November 07, 2019, 10:11 »
I just wanted to post an update. Turns out it was definitely a scam. One of those "Nigerian" ones where a widow has millions of $ and needs get them out of the country (South Africa in this instance) and I would get $600k for helping her.
This person also sent pictures their friend who allegedly has cancer. These pictures were clearly staged stock images and actually looked quite good. ![]() 3

Hey gang,
I just got an unussual email from someone claiming they got my email address from DepositPhoto: "Greetings! My name is Masja Stokkermans, I found your e-mail address from [ http://depositphotos.com ], I hope we can have a positive correspondence and also we can work together? Best regards, in anticipation to hear from you soon. Masja S." I suspect that is a scam espacially since it was sent from an email with another name: [email protected] Has anyone ever received a similar e-mail? 4

I had my last batch of images accepted over a week ago and now have over the 300 required images accepted for 2019. I haven't heard anything from Adobe yet so I was wondering if I need to just be patient and wait longer or if there's anything additional that I need to do. Thank you Mat! I appreciate you replying 7

iStockPhoto.com / Re: August numbers are out and all I can say is wow.« on: September 20, 2019, 09:13 »
So I managed to send them a ticket now. I'm curious what they will say (if anything). I stopped uploading to iStock since they started refusing StockSubmitter submissions but I still have quite a few images there.

I got a bunch of refunds as well, from Australia (Partner Portal) and I ended up with around $3.60 for the month. I've never seen anything like this before. What's going on? 13
General Stock Discussion / Re: List the agencies that you've dropped in the past year and reasons why« on: August 26, 2019, 16:36 »ridiculous rejections. I've often had 1 image pass and another that was similar rejected for a stupid nonsensical reason. Let me give you an example. I uploaded three images of a colored liquid in a beaker. It was the same image and I only changed the color of the liquid using Photoshop. The images with the green and blue colored liquids were accepted but the one with the red liquid was rejected for "Poor isolation". Another example: I uploaded a image of a mountain range. It was shot in a National Park and there weren't any people in it. Just mountains and a dramatic stormy sky. It was rejected because: "There appears to be a release missing for this file. A model release is always required whenever there are identifiable faces present. A property release is required when an file includes private property. Please obtain any necessary releases before re-submitting." 14

I've just dropped CanStock for the same reason as everyone else it seems - very low sales and ridiculous rejections. I've often had 1 image pass and another that was similar rejected for a stupid nonsensical reason.
The other one I've dropped is Zoonar. In over 2 years, with almost 2000 images, I've made a grand total of 18 cents. 15

Cameras / Lenses / Re: $50 Insurance saved me $2,400« on: July 29, 2019, 17:27 »
I don't know if it's true because I have no first hand experience (and it would be an expensive experiment to try) but I heard once that a broken filter isn't proof the incident that caused it to break would even have done any damage to the lens had the filter not been there. The reasoning behind this is that the filter ring is just a thin piece of aluminum or brass and that the glass in the filter is quite thin, whereas the front element of a lens is much much thicker and tougher. It was even argued that having a filter on a lens may damage the lenses filter threads and the broken filter glass may scratch the lens in the event of the filter receiving an impact and breaking and that it was better to use a lens hood instead.
Again, this is just something that I heard but it does have some logic behind it. 17
MicrostockSubmitter / Re: Stocksubmitter and editorial videos« on: March 06, 2019, 11:47 »
I saw the same thing recently and I think the problem is on Shutterstock's end - someone had a brain fart. Uploaded 4 editorial videos through StockSubmitter and one was rejected because of visible trademarks. The four videos were all variations on the same subject (with more or less the same visible trademarks and all were marked editoral yet one was rejected.
I resubmitted it with the same setting and it was approved right away. 18
Software - General / Re: iStock/Getty no longer accepting submissions from Stocksubmitter« on: July 17, 2018, 15:47 »
I wonder if iStock will see a big reduction in uploaded images because of this. Personally, I don't want to upload images to each site individually...

General Stock Discussion / Re: So How was your May?« on: June 01, 2018, 11:23 »
My May has been my best month ever. It's kind of misleading though as I've only been at this since August and I'm still growing my portfolio as fast as possible.

New Sites - General / Zoonar earnings?« on: May 27, 2018, 22:07 »
I'm wondering if other have a similar experience with Zoonar or if it's just me...
I have a portfolio of 1000+ images on Zoonar and I have been with them since August 2017, but to date I have 0 sales. Also, looking at my images, it doesn't appear that any of my images have been released to the partner sites. 23
General Photography Discussion / Re: How was/is your April compared to March?« on: May 01, 2018, 23:32 »
My April was my second best month ever and was only beaten by this March where I sold a couple of video clips on Pond5 for $75. Mind you, I've only been at this since last August so I'm still trying to grow my portfolio as fast as possible.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Anyone selling something on storyblocks ???« on: April 17, 2018, 10:54 »
I have about 1000 images and videos there since October 2017 and have exactly 2 sales.
