Wouldn't you need a US address?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: New Exclusivity Bonus Estimator
« on: November 06, 2008, 13:26 »
I just checked my numbers on the Estimator  :o

I started uploading to istock in January this year.. I only have a tiny portfolio (100).
As an exclusive, I can look forward to earning 79% of what I earned Jan-Oct during the next year... >:(   If I don't go exclusive the figure is 63% for the next year.

I might as well just stop uploading all together.  :'(

Just curious.... as of today, how many of your sales have been taken away by the "not downloaded yet" situation?

I just looked and I have one that dates from 2/2/2008.  :o

It never showed "not downloaded yet" before.

You got my vote.

I got the Manfotto 190ProB and it's alright.
I thought I had done my research but I'm not happy with the little 486RC2 I got with it. It's not enough for my Nikon D200 with an old 105mm on. I would definitely go for a bigger head now.

At least in seems as if MP are willing to remove the impact of votes on the index

http://www.mostphotos.com/forumviewthread.php?thread=1049&page=2

where Arian says

"I suggest for the voting to still be ... But that it wont effect the index. . a lot of members here actually enjoys the votings. It is a part of the community. But like I said I suggest we remove its impact from the index. What do you guys think of that?"

Although it doesn't solve the problems with no reviewers....

On this page: http://www.photoarte.co.uk/bookimages.php?page=02

he writes:

Here are some examples of our work

He obviously claims these photos as his own work.

Mostphotos.com / Re: Who has had sales at MostPhotos?
« on: May 17, 2008, 07:41 »
Here's what MP's Arian had to say in the MP forum:

@Mostphotos are for the moment putting all its efforts on advertising in the Scandinavian market.

To be honest the crew are working like crazy to increase the revenues, and the only obstacle that we face from buyers is that they need to see more photos on the site. Else they love the site in every aspects.
So at the same time that we are working with sales, we are putting efforts to get more photos to the site.
Sales and and the number of photos goes hand in hand. Mostphotos have as of today approx 220 000 photos online and the goal is to have several millions. We are working really really hard to increase the sale figures, trust me.

What the site needs from the contributes is for them to do their part, uploading more photos.

It has a lot of stray pixels around the guy, especially along the back and around the head. Fotolia would surely accepted it. You might want to clean it up for SS.

iStockPhoto.com / Best Match with 0 dls
« on: April 18, 2008, 13:24 »
Since a couple of weeks, I've been checking the Best Match result for "book AND nobody."
Yesterday I was surprised to find a new image with 0 dls and only 4 views to show up as number one in the search. It's still there with 10 more views but still no dl.
How is this possible? Is it just because it's an image by an exclusive?

I have also noticed that you can get any attempt to isolation accepted at Fotolia.
It is everything else they reject...

The search term for this one was "evolution"

I can see the connection between evolution and fish but evolution and breaded fish with peas and coleslaw?  :-\ I guess s/he got hungry.

SS 36
IS  31.5
FT  9.5
StockXpert 8
SV  4.5
DT  3

Cre 1
BS  2

For what it is worth. It is my first real month on micro. An average of 88 pics in the portfolios with a per image result of $1.26 for the month. Now if I had 5000 in my portfolios with the same result, I would be pretty happy!  :D

I live in the UK but unfortunately I registered on the US site (didn't know there was a UK site...). I wrote Fotolia and asked if I could change but nope, can't be done -- maybe they would have let me change if I had been in the US and had registered for a non$$$$ Fotolia...

Photo Critique / Re: Help with IS rejection
« on: February 22, 2008, 11:50 »
I've only submitted 2 flower pics but they were accepted by all (SS, IS, StockXpert, 123rf, DT, BS and others) but Fotolia (took one only).

Both times I thought they would be rejected so you just never know.

Since I uploaded them in January I have only had downloads at SS.

Mostphotos.com / Re: Questioning the No edit policy
« on: February 22, 2008, 05:51 »
Every view ups the index 0.1 points so it might increase significantly thanks to this thread  :D :'(

There are a lot of images on MP getting really high ratings from lots of people but that don't deserve those ratings -- especially technically flawed images that only look good as thumbnails but that are unsharp, noisy etc.  Those will show up high in the search right now and if the buyer doesn't inspect the image at 100% s/he might be pretty disappointed with the quality...

Crestock.com / Re: What is your acceptance rate at Crestock ?
« on: February 18, 2008, 11:33 »
I joined there last month and only got a small portfolio (86).
About 7% rejection but funny enough all but 2 of the rejects were accepted at IS and SS.

I decided to be proactive and attached property releases for my dog on some images where the dog was not the main subject and pretty far away.
They were rejected because my PR did not include the phone number of the owner (me) but only address and e-mail.
They probably would have been accepted without PR in the first place...
