I was alerted by another agency this week with which I'm exclusive, that one of my videos is still for sale on Shutterstock. See https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-1008267766-aerial-flyover-small-town-beaufort-south-carolina
I shut down my shutterstock account months ago. They removed my name from the video and kept it up for sale. Anyone else having this issue. If they don't do anything about it I'll be taking legal action.

I had a sale on Fine Art America the other day. When I checked the website, I found out there is an option to sell stock images through them on Pixels.com. You can set your own prices. Anyone had any luck with this site?

Shutterstock.com / I refuse to join the dollar slave club.
« on: May 29, 2020, 09:15 »
I've been with Shutterstock since mid 2005. I have file numbers in the low 6 digits that still sell. I've seen things get better and get worse. I currently make more with Shutterstock on a monthly basis than any other stock agency (until May 2020 anyway). But I refuse to be treated like Shutterstock has said they will and be put into their dollar slave club. I will disable my account June 1st. I may not receive any money from them anymore, but I will retain my dignity. Those who remain will eventually lose both their money and their dignity. Better to leave now. It was a good run while it lasted.

I've been doing stock for about 15 years now. I do a lot of travel photography. I might be late to the game, but as long as I'm traveling, I decided to start shooting a youtube channel while I'm out shooting other stuff. It seems like I'm having trouble getting watch hours and subscribers. Does anyone have any experience with this, and if so, how did you get monetized?  Here's my latest video as a sample.

After shooting stock for 15 years, I decided I need to start traveling to get more content. So I bought a teardrop trailer, started traveling a bit more, and started a Youtube channel. I'm going to cover photography and the experience of traveling in a small camper. Let me know you thoughts on this, and (shameless plug) if you do like it, please subscribe. Here's the latest episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvTVqhP1aco

General - Stock Video / Optimum length for video clips.
« on: August 01, 2019, 11:25 »
I create and upload quite a bit of video content. I'm just curious what people's experience is with clip length. Is there an optimum clip length that buyer are looking for, or does it even matter? What's your experience?

General Stock Discussion / major milestone
« on: February 28, 2009, 18:57 »
Yesterday I passed a major milestone. I passed the $1000 US dollar earnings mark for a single month, on the shortest month of the year with a day to go. Here's to many more!
When I started this whole thing, I thought it was a fun hobby, and could never have dreamed it would go as well as it has. My friends aren't laughing anymore.

Off Topic / Check out our new studio
« on: August 17, 2008, 15:30 »
Exciting news. I'm moving with my partner into a new studio!  We're going from a tiny space to an 8x16 meter studio with 4 meter ceilings! Stock contributors are welcome to stop by if you're in the South Carolina or Georgia area.  I'm including links to our websites, where you can get on our blog and see pics of the space as it's progressing. I'll keep it up to date as changes are made.
