Shutterstock.com / Contributor Dashboard down?
« on: September 15, 2023, 03:45 »
I can't seem to access the contributor dashboard on both my desktop and app. Anyone else having the same issues?

Shutterstock.com / How many people hit Level 6 on earnings?
« on: July 25, 2023, 12:37 »
Curious to know how many people manage to hit Level 6 on image and / or video sales. Does anyone know? The highest I've managed to hit is Level 4 on images, and TBH, I think it's unlikely I'll hit Level 5.

Pond5 / Setting prices for photos on P5
« on: January 03, 2023, 07:53 »
I know that most people go to P5 for videos, but I thought I would have a try uploading some photos on P5, so I'm going to submit some photos that have sold well on other stock sites.

For people who submit photos to P5, what price do you set your photos at? I see P5 set $5 as a default price, but what do you set them at?

Shutterstock.com / Not Editorial use?
« on: November 02, 2022, 08:15 »
I think I know the answer to this question, but I've just discovered a photo of mine that has been used on a cover of a CD. I've only sold it once through Shutterstock (I got 10 cents for it). It is marked as editorial. As the image is of a sculpture with wording from a poem on it. I would assume that usage on an album cover is not classed as editorial, but commercial?

I am going to write to the person concerned to ask where he purchased the licence (the shot is with 2 other libraries), but what would you do under these circumstances?

Shutterstock.com / Coincidence...?
« on: September 14, 2022, 10:35 »
For the last 5-6 weeks, I haven't uploaded anything to SS. About 2 weeks so ago, sales started to decline rapidly, and any sales I was getting were mainly 10 / 12 cent DL's.  Late last week I uploaded some new content and within a couple of days, sales rapidly improved, with far less 10 cent DL's.

This is not the first time this has happened. It's happened on a few occasions. Do SS algorithms favour contributors who regularly upload content, or is it just a coincidence?

Shutterstock.com / Political campaign video usage
« on: July 11, 2022, 03:22 »
In the UK, our Prime Minister is stepping down and there are a number of Conservative Party MP's who are campaigning for his job. Some of them have released publicity campaign videos. I have noted that one of the candidates (Penny Mordaunt) has used a clip of mine that was bought through Shutterstock. The video can be seen here: https://www.pm4pm.com/. My video clip is designated for editorial use only. Is a political campaign video of this nature regarded as editorial?

Pond5 / Sales have crashed on P5 - what am I doing wrong?
« on: May 04, 2022, 06:48 »
I joined P5 about 18 months ago, and despite having a very small portfolio, I was getting sales - about one every 10 days, which I was generally happy about. However, over the last year, despite adding hundreds more clips, sales have fallen through the floor, to the extent that I'm lucky to get a download once every 4 months. I'm not selling them at ridiculously high prices - typically $79 for HD and $120 for 4K.

Whilst sales have crashed on Pond5, the same video clips put on other stock sites like Shutterstock have increased very nicely, so I know there is a demand for some of the content I'm shooting.

So where do you think I might be going wrong? Or is it just the stuff I shoot doesn't appeal to people who use P5?

Adobe Stock / Submit as Illustrative Editorial?
« on: April 29, 2022, 05:32 »
I've got a load of shots of old houses in a popular UK seaside town, where the house names are clearly visible (see an example below). I have in the past had rejections due to 'intellectual property' reasons, because a house number was visible in the photo. Should I submit these pics as illustrative editorial? I don't want to clone out the house names, as it's an integral part of the building.

Adobe Stock / Mark as Illustrative Editorial?
« on: April 08, 2022, 12:30 »
I've just reached my 100th DL on Adobe, which means that I can at last start submitting illustrative editorial work.

I have quite a lot of images of houses, which sell quite well on other stock sites. I submit them as editorial there, as I don't have any property releases. See sample pic below. To date, I haven't bothered uploading them to Adobe, as I would assume they would reject them for 'intellectual property' reasons (which they have done on similar shots). Am I right in assuming that these type of shots would be classed as 'illustrative editorial'?

Adobe Stock / Time for a redesign?
« on: March 25, 2022, 03:47 »
I'm lead to understand that there are some people here who frequent this page who are connected with Adobe? If that is the case, do you know if there are any plans to redesign the Adobe submission/keywording page?

Out of all the stock site submission pages I use, it is in my view that Adobe Stock's submission page is one of the most poorly designed. The whole process of having to spend an age re-arranging the keywords in order of popularity - of which you have to scroll up and down the page constantly,  is unnecessarily cumbersome and time-consuming.

Whilst Shutterstock have many faults, they have a submission page that enables you to submit images far faster and easier than Adobe's submission page.
